How is one able to keep their edges sharp when someone else always tries to soften every part of them?
Everything that surrounded Avery seemed to change, similar to the way things feel unfamiliar once you've been away from them for years. This included the people whom he had held close to his heart, those who he had shared personal things to.
Things seemed to change now, maybe to become harsher than they were before— but, for now, between him and D3rlord3 were only sweet feelings. Mutual, sweet feelings at that.
Avery was an angel, and that is something that anyone who had the fortunate blessing of meeting him would be aware of. Everything Avery had was hard to explain, if not impossible — but they weren't bad things, he carried things with himself that would make anyone fall hopelessly in love in a matter of seconds. Avery was, — and is — the type of person anyone would gladly lose sleep for. They're sweet, the manner they have of telling jokes is fun, the way his voice sounds so soft is utterly enamoring.
Angels must suffer, and that is inevitable.
Avery was currently facing down away from their lover. It had become a habit for him to face away from him if he was feeling withdrawn, or just not as talkative as he usually was. So, being aware of this; D3rlord3 touched the back of their shoulders gently, making sure not to startle them.
Even when Avery wasn't sure what to say, even when they feared to stumble upon their words, to end up saying too much when their heart just wanted to be free like a small river with gentle crossing water — their knight knew what to do. He will protect them, that's for sure, that's a promise. Love isn't something that only stayed when there were soft moments, even in moments where things felt messy and harsh; adoration always showed itself, even in those moments, especially in those moments. Avery deserved to feel adored, with his emotions being soft and peaceful or full of anguish and pain, he was loved, he would be kept safe forever.
Even when their words cut themselves mid–sentence, when his feelings tried to hold their throat to keep them back from speaking, they would never achieve that; the knight's hand would always be wrapped around their collarbones, holding their gentle form with love and softness, protecting their own feelings to never overwhelm them, Avery would not be in pain, as he had someone to protect him now. Avery is loved, would always be; constantly, unconditionally. He is loved, not for what they can do, not only because they're just pretty or talented; they were loved for themselves, with perfections that disguised themselves as flaws or not.
Avery deserved to feel seen, to feel heard, to feel loved, and that they could rely on someone whenever their heart was almost shattered. Even if they didn't want that, then D3rlord3 would keep loving them, caring for them.
It's Avery, and everything would always be about them.
