Work Text:
It began.
Like a song of love that clings to me.
Angeldust paced his room in quick, restless strides, eyes flicking over each shifting shadow he cast across the walls.
He was in a mood.
Which is to say — not a good one. Not at all.
Unforgettable.
Thinks I am unforgettable too.
He dropped onto the edge of the bed, long legs folding over one another with practiced elegance that felt hollow tonight. One pair of hands clasped in his lap; the others dangled at his sides like wilted laundry.
His gaze stayed lowered — unreadable, yet strangely clear. Bleary, yet sharp in the way pain always is.
Unforgettable.
In every way.
His mouth twitched. A tiny downward pull, a distant frown that barely announced itself before fading.
And forever more, that is how you stay.
That’s why, darling, it is incredible
that someone so “unforgettable”
thinks that I am unforgettable too.
Tears gathered at the corners of his eyes, beading heavy, making that small, wet sound that he hated — warm, unwelcome, and disgustingly alive.
“Unforgettable.”
It rasped out of him. Gravelly. Thin. Resigned.
His eyes lifted toward the ceiling of the dimly lit room, searching for something he didn’t have a name for.
Never before has someone even more unforgettable—
in every way, and forever more—
that’s how you’ll stay.
That’s why, darling,
it’s incredible—
that someone so unforgettable…
He shot to his feet. Long legs carrying him across the room in a burst of motion as one right hand slammed the radio off. The sudden silence hit harder than the sound ever had.
He slumped down again — against the bed this time — folding in on himself like some sad Victorian child abandoned by the world.
And there he stayed.
Tears, his only company for the night.
Until then.
“Unforgettable.”
Was he.
