"I might just run another game as a thief... but I also want to try something new... Maybe I could consult Price Tag later?"
Nickel spoke to himself, no one around. Cake had gone to turn in his character sheet to Price Tag - with how they ran campaigns, everyone was expected to do everything except stats beforehand. Something about "making sure stats aren't cheated", which sounds like something Pillow would do to create another menace to society build. Either way, Nickel was alone in his room right now. His general idea for a character was down, but he couldn't decide what class to run. He knew his character's backstory to a tee. Class? He wasn't sure.
When his door creaked open, he knew his wonderful, amazing, sweet boyfriend, who was very sensitive, had returned, "Cake!"
Cake's response wasn't the usual happy one, but more solemn, "Hey Nickel."
Nickel immediately knew something wasn't right, "What's the matter?"
"Eggy, she, she asked me what I, you know, what I was doing... and then... she said it was "nerdy"... a- and that, well and that I was a nerd, and, like, no one would want, want to be friends with me..." Cake's eyes were full of tears, sniffles coming from his shaking body.
"That's not true at all," Nickel instantly hopped off his bed, walking up and leaning into Cake, "Don't listen to her. She's just jealous."
Cake nodded, a sob breaking from his throat. He couldn't stop himself from crying. He could hear Nickel's reassurance, but the words were lost to just focusing on his tone of voice. It surprised him at first, how Nickel would drop everything to comfort him. The first time he had, they had just met that day. And, while they were stuck in the elevator, he started freaking out. What if they wouldn't be able to escape? And yet, Nickel had dropped right next to his side and comforted him.
Since that day, Nickel had been someone Cake was rather reliant on. And, well, now Nickel was once again prove why. Cake would never be able to say just how much Nickel meant to him. They were dating now, they had been for a while, and yet words still didn't describe just how much Nickel meant to him. The feeling of Nickel's cool metal body pressing against him, the sound of his voice, it was calming. Reassuring.
However much time passed didn't matter to either of them, but eventually, Cake's tears dried, small sniffles being the only noise coming from him. His expression was softer, still a hint of him being upset, but clearly feeling better than before. Nickel's expression was gentle, kind, and warm. Protecting of his boyfriend, the care he has for him shining through.
"Are you feeling any better?" Nickel asked.
Cake nodded, "Yeah... thanks."
"No problem," Nickel smiled, "Now, do you want to help me decide a class for my next character?"
"Sure," Cake smiled in return.
Later, while no one is around:
"So, what do you need from me?"
"I need you to kill Eggy. Don't tell anyone it was my idea."
"And what am I getting in return?"
"15 games of Yoyle Chess where I don't question the rules at all."
"Hmmm... deal."
"Thanks, Pillow."
"Not an issue! I'll get started right away."
