ermm story for my sister who’s obsessed with draco for some reason, i don’t know much about hp outside of the movies so this may not be the most accurate draco written!

Work Text:

it was the middle of the evening, and footsteps roared through the halls as classes had just begun to finish, students chatted loudly, making their way to their respective dormitories.

walking through the noise was y/n, a faint scent of snail mucus lingered on her fingers, she had just stepped out of professor snapes potion class, green liquid dripped off from her robe, leaving tiny puddles on the floor.

“when i catch you potter..” she mumbled under her breath, her eyes blazed with fury.

she shoved her hair out of her face, and stormed around a corner, fully prepared to hex the next person who so much so breathed in her direction.

but while stomping towards the halls, still dripping with potion and seething, a familiar presence appeared in front, because of course someone had to witness this disaster.

draco took one look at her robe, and stepped back instantly as a droplet hit the floor between them.

“y/n…fell into the black lake on your way here?” he said, half horrified half fascinated.

y/n’s cheeks burned like a camp fire flame, “no malfoy i didn’t fall into the bloody lake!” she snapped, cleaning off the green slob that clung to her robe.

“potter decided my cauldron needed a little extra..explosion..happy now?”

dracos eyes flicked from staring at her face and to the puddle forming at her feet, “thrilled”, he said sarcastically.

he stepped closer a bit, and held out his wand, “hold still, you’re making a mess, and who knows what snape will do if he sees you leaking chemicals everywhere.”

the tip of his wand glowed, and a swirl of silver light washed over her drenched robe, the liquid vanished completely, leaving the fabric completely spotless as if nothing happened.

y/n flinched, her heart skipped a beat, but draco didn’t even glance away from her, she brushed off invisible specks of potion from her robe, suddenly noticing how close he was.

“honestly, potter acts like the world revolves around him like does he even try in class?” draco complained, turning back to walk towards the dormitory.

y/n peeked at him from the corner of her eyes, trying hard not to stare, “he does act like that” she admitted quietly, following behind him.

“exactly” draco said, a hint of frustration creeped in his tone, “and its infuriating honestly, how does he even breathe without making it about himself?”

y/n snorted softly, but quickly covered it up with a cough, draco glanced at her with one eyebrow raised.

“what was that?”

“nothing” she said quickly, “just…agreeing yeah.”

draco grinned clearly amused, and they continued to walk down the hall, the world seemed to slow down around them, leaving just the quiet echo of their steps.

at the stairwell, draco looked down at her, “you know”, he said, voice low enough that only she could hear, “if you’re not too busy avoiding potters catastrophes, i might… save you a front row seat at the quidditch match tomorrow.”

y/n stopped in her tracks, caught off guard by the sudden invitation, “oh? and why would you do that?”

“because”, a playful glimmer shone in his eyes, “i figured someone needs to keep the slytherin cheering section entertaining, or don’t tell me you’d rather watch potter fumble in the stands.”

she held another laugh back, and pretended to be serious, “well… i suppose i could make room in my busy schedule for that.”

draco’s eyes widened, but there was something softer in his gaze now, “good meet me by the pitch and don’t be late, first one there owes the other a butterbeer.”

y/n nodded, and giant smile formed on her face, “fine, but don’t expect me to go easy on you if slytherin loses.”

“wouldn’t dream of it” he said, stepping aside just enough to let her pass, and his gaze lingered on her a little too long.

as she walked back up the stairs, she couldn’t help but glance back at him, draco was already wearing that signature smirk of his, and for the first time, she felt a spark, and her heart beat a little louder then before.

they made their way inside the common room, and the sound of their footsteps faded from the chatter of other students, but the spark between them remained, silent and more mischievous, and maybe… something a little more.
