Work Text:
Choromatsu had been alone at home for at least 30 minutes now. And all he's been doing is staring at this blank piece of paper. No, it's not like he hasn't written anything its just that everything he's written is in a crumpled pile beside him. The pen tapped at his chin in thought, not even knowing how to start something like this. Writing letters was hard, okay? It's not something he does every day. With a sigh, he started this page just as he had with every other.
"Hello,
"I'm addressing this to you for a very special reason,"
And then he pondered.
Being lost in thought about what to put on this letter for ages was exhausting. So he deemed it be time for a break. He climbed up from sitting, bending his knees individually to stretch them out again. And with that, Choromatsu made his way to the kitchen, popping the fridge open with that blissful suction noise. The contents inside we're extremely varied due to eight people all with different tastes, but surely there was something he'd enjoy. The first thing he noticed was strawberry milk in a cute carton. It has to be Totty's. Was his first thought, but upon further inspection it was a bit of a surprise to see the thick black marker and a scribbled 'JYUSHIMATSU!!!! MUSCLE!!!' on the side. "Too bad," he murmured, pulling the milk from the fridge and a cup following swiftly from nearby.
As the milk streamed out and into the cup Choromatsu sighed in delight, a certain man's rosy cheeks coming to mind. He closed his eyes to remember the wonderful sight. However that didn't last too long as his eyes snapped open remembering the fact that he was pouring milk. Hastily, he sealed the carton and placed it in the fridge, returning to his spot with the milk.
"I hope you don't mind me saying this on a letter, but I'd like to pay out some compliments!
"I like the way your cheeks tint rose pink after laughing too much or when you're embarrassed. I"
Choromatsu tapped the pen again. He looked around the room before he looked back to the letter with a gentle smile.
"like the way your laugh resonates and sounds like joy in a room, lighting it up instantly. I like the way I can hear the smile in your voice. I like the way your eyes shine when you're happy with that color nobody else has. I like the way that"
He was stuck again. The pen dropped in frustration, looking at the page. God, did Choromatsu hope that this wasn't awful. He liked the direction this one was going so far. It was cute, but it was still like him. At least he could hope it does. Oh well. As long as it didn't sound like Karamatsu was writing it, he'd be alright.
But that didn't stop him from being stopped in his tracks with this letter. What does he like, and what does Choromatsu like so much about him?
"Oh!"
"you always can say something back to what I say. You always know how to respond to me and I love that. I like the way you joke around for whatever reason. I like the way you're open to me.
"This may seem so foolish. I want to crumple this up and throw it away, but"
What the fuck was that? That's not something you put on a letter.
He crossed that out and kept going.
Choromatsu sat for another 10 minutes straight writing everything on that paper that came to his mind. He was happily smiling and lost in thought until he noticed he was trickling short and running out of things to say. Once he hit his wall for the Nth time, he looked over the page. "This is... A lot." He blinked a few times, looking over everything he'd written, his cheeks slowly tinting from the natural tone of his flesh to a vibrant hot pink. But with a determined nod, he pulled yet another sheet of blank paper from the pile he'd prepared in front of him.
And with the last swig of strawberry milk lingering over his tongue, he put pen to paper and created a final draft.
The entire time he was thinking his brothers would return and read his horrible attempt of a letter and laugh at him. Just like they always do at everything he does. Sometimes he really felt like a target, right next to Karamatsu. But that's okay. They'll all see how productive and intelligent he is when he hands this letter to it's rightful owner and--
Speaking of which, he should really proof read that letter before sealing it up.
"Hello,
"I'm writing this for you for a special reason, so please be careful with who sees this! (I apologize for sounding stingy).
"I hope you don't mind me writing what's to come down on paper rather than telling you directly... This is embarrassing to say, but I hope you don't mind me writing down some compliments and such.
"I like you.
"I like your voice and how it resonates in my ears. I like the way your cheeks tint pink when embarrassed or exhausted from laughing. I like the way I can hear your smile when you talk. I like the way your eyes shine bright when you're happy. I like the way you speak to me, always knowing what to say. I like the way you joke around with me. I like the way you open up to me if I ask (or even if you want to!!). I like the way you are truthful with me. I like how you worry about me just as much as I worry about you, even if you aren't as outright about it. I like how much you care about me, just as I about you. I like when you come to me first, even if it's hard to do. I like how you're never afraid to speak your mind. I like your creativity and spurts of ideas. I love how passionate you are with the things you love most. I love how you can always be depended on if there's nobody else. I love how you dedicate so much time into our friendship. I love the fact that you make me feel like I'm not alone no matter what's happening. I love how careful you can be, like walking on eggshells. I love how kind you are to everybody (unless you have a reason not to be). I love the way you speak to me, gentle and playful. I love your generosity even though I refuse to accept it. I love how we can share so many silly things with each other. I love being able to say almost anything I want around you. I love how I can speak my mind as well, and not feel judged. I love how we have such similar taste in so many things. I love how we always discover new things about each other. I love how your favorite color is green. I love that you like cold soda. I love how you need it as quiet as can be in order for you to sleep. I love how patient you are with things that would normally be frustrating. I love your dedication to what you love. I love the feeling you give me in my stomach when we part. I love the way you make my heart twinge when you compliment me.
"I'm sorry if that makes you a big disturbed . I just want to let you know that I like you.
"Choromatsu."
As he read, he realized that he didn't catch when the "I like" turned into "I love". Seeing that on paper made him blush again. But what made him blush more was the need to cap off this letter with the main purpose. Choromatsu picked the black ink pen from the table again, scribbling under his name.
"I love you."
He didn't give himself time to think about grabbing the white out before fiercely picking up the tan envelope and sliding the paper inside, licking and sealing it.
Choromatsu sighed in relief before grabbing the pen once more to write on the front: "For you."
