Chapter Text
Praetor,
My subordinate gave me this video compilation of various scenes they glimpsed of the future. Or, at least, what they claimed was the future. It was so repulsive that there had to be some sort of sabotage of the time viewing machine involved. Naturally, I had that subordinate killed for their incompetency.
The first scenes involve a little human boy having his mother taken away from him and whining about it. It’s such a weird few glimpses. Besides, considering the restraints involved, no doubt his mother was involved in something traitorous. Every good Romulan would feel nothing but satisfaction to see their criminal parents taken away.
Then that ugly Starfleet captain says she’s been looking for the boy for fifteen years. That’s quite a long time, but I suppose I should expect that sort of thing from humans; they don’t tend to be very capable. A truly excellent Tal Shiar agent like myself would be much more successful at locating someone. After all, I watch our population very closely.
Then there’s the school — which is apparently also a starship. Evidentially, it was so repulsive to the humans that they couldn’t put it on Earth, which makes sense. I would never want to go to that Starfleet Academy. I’d rather blow it out of the sky. Our Imperial War College is far superior. Or perhaps it’s just Starfleet's attempt to disguise their military aims. By bringing their young cadets aboard a starship, they are no doubt corrupting them into warriors like their Klingon allies, primed to attack innocent civilizations like us Romulans.
Then the playback shows several scenes of some very ugly humans. They don’t seem to understand that the Romulan form is far superior, rather than these fat people with waxy faces and rounded ears. That’s not even mentioning that mentally stupid cadet. If she’s so awkward, she shouldn’t be given a position among the elite like this. We Romulans know that it is wisest to kill babies with defects as soon as they are born. They are nothing but a waste of resources otherwise.
One of the inclusions that makes me sure this is falsified data is the inclusion of that half-Jem’Hadar, half-Klingon woman. She can’t possibly exist when Jem’Hadar are nothing but clones incapable of procreation. Besides, by this point in the future, Romulans will no doubt have exterminated them. And Klingons hybrids? Why are there more than one in this video? They’re such an idiotic race that should have died out long ago. It is the Romulans who are the superior race, after all.
The video is also full of audio clips of the sort of nonsense one expects from humans at this point. It’s all about social interactions and feelings rather than strict discipline. We Romulans don’t need to talk about our feelings, because the only feeling our military should have is duty to the state.
This is supposed to be the best of the best of Starfleet? If so, it’s a wonder we haven’t conquered them before. They used to be so exclusive and had high standards. If this is real, they’re letting anybody join in the future. There’s no way Starfleet could come back from something like this. They’re abandoning everything that made them a decent adversary in our current time. No doubt we Romulans will easily conquer them in the future.
Speaking of we Romulans, it is a racist travesty that they didn’t include a single one of us in this video! Could my former subordinate not locate us? No, Starfleet just has to act diverse when really they’re excluding the best race in the galaxy! It’s just their stupid DEI hires. What were they going to do next — include a Reman? Everybody knows that certain races should simply be excluded from high-ranking positions.
This is utter trash. I recommend we scrap the project and kill everybody involved.
Long live the Romulan Star Empire,
Colonel Lumek
