Silia has been offered a mission to infiltrate a mission during the Polar Night. Sylus offers to help her as they go undercover as performers.

Work Text:

Sylus was getting his morning coffee as he heard typing from the living room. He walked over and leaned against the side of the door, noticing Silia typing away. She let out a soft sigh. “Is everything alright, kitten? You're doing that …sighing and looking annoyed at a screen thing,” he mused as he walked over to place the coffee down on the dark oak table.

“This always seems to happen on a Polar Night. Every crime organisation is called to this one small ass island…They want my whole team there for a mission.” Sylus tilted his head slightly as he walked to sit beside her. “Well, I can send some of Onychinus as well. Our organisations are tied together after all.” He said, taking a sip of coffee.

Compared to Silia, Sylus looked so carefree as he wrapped a hand behind the sofa. He noticed how her usually neat blonde bun was slightly messy, strands falling slightly, framing her face. “I can't keep throwing your forces into danger like that…Onychinus has enough to do.” She leaned back, glancing at Sylus, who raised an eyebrow as she let out a laugh.

“What~? Don't tell me Onychinus isn't busy as well around the time of the Polar Night?” She comments as Sylus chuckles. “Well, Silia…you forget that I can move resources to have Onychinus help you.” Silia picks up her warm coffee, closing her eyes slightly in contentment. “You don't have to!” She knew he would give her all the treasures in the world if he could, but she was also independently stubborn.

Sylus leaned forward slightly in his seat as he fixed his gaze on Silia, a slight smirk on his lips. “Okay, sweetie…what does this mission require?” Silia narrowed her gaze, knowing he was pushing to help her, no matter how hard she said, she and her team didn't need it. “Sylus…” she glanced at his beautiful eyes as she sighed.

“Fine…okay…There's a club on this small island, and there are many high-profile people. Including weapons that could hurt evolvers…a big anti-evol group is meeting here.” She states as she brings up the map of the island, zooming in on the club where the event is taking place. “Granted, it's an undercover mission, but it'll be heavily guarded…Catarsis has resources, yes, but it won't be enough…even with Onychinus. If we are found, it's game over.”

Sylus leaned over to look over the plans as she nodded. “You know what, I could go in as a performer. An idol of sorts.” He raised an eyebrow, waiting for Silia's response as she paused for a moment.  “An idol? You? I don't think I've seen you dance… Ever? Maybe with me, but those are more traditional. Performance and stage dancing are very different.” She paused for a moment, trying to think over her options.

“Indeed, but I'll have someone teaching me. You are a dancer after all.” He says as he leans back, chuckling as Silia’s eyes widen. “Sylus…honey…I do traditional ballroom dancing, not performance-type dance. I can try, but…it won't be easy, especially in the time we need it.” Sylus grabs her hand as he moves the laptop, placing it onto the table. “Silia, you have faced more challenging things and run a whole organisation…teaching me will be a breeze.”

As Silia paused, looking down, doubt showing in her emotions, Sylus grabbed her chin, her eyes widening slightly before relaxing. “Trust me… I will be your most diligent student, and we will succeed.” She was quiet for a moment. “Okay… I will trust you, just make sure to work hard,” she said, grabbing her keyboard as she messaged that she would accept the mission.

Silia was awoken later that day with music, coming from below. She opened one eye, before rising to put on her pink dressing gown, and as she made her way down the hall, her footsteps echoed in the quiet. Making her way down the stairs, she enters the basement to see Sylus, her gaze softening. “Sylus~” She cooed with a sigh, reaching out to turn on the lights of the room.

“Go to bed. It's the middle of the day.” She says with a soft yawn. Sylus, who was already out of breath, turns around to see Silia standing there as he gets up, wiping his head with a white towel. “Silia…I want to keep practising.” He responded as Silia shook her head. She grabbed his hand and raised an eyebrow with curiosity.

“Who taught you if I wasn’t…” She paused as she closed her eyes and sighed. “Did Luke and Keiran teach you?” She asked, meeting Sylus' gaze as if trying to interrogate and get an answer out of him, silence filling the room. “Yes, I did; however, Kitten, I didn’t want to disrupt your sleep, and your reputation is on the line for this mission. I want it to be a success for you.” He responded as Silia shook her head.

“Sylus! I love that you care for this mission; however, I don’t want you burning yourself out because of me!” She walked closer to Sylus as she cupped his head in her hands, her touch delicate and supportive. She noticed Sylus’s eyes slowly widen, and seeing that, she peeked into the softer yet more fragile side of him that he would only let her see.

Sylus pressed his forehead against Silia’s as he took his hand into hers. “Alright… I will trust you in this mission. No more early morning dance routines.” Sylus said as he chuckled, as Silia tilted her head in a teasing manner. “Do you promise?” She said, her voice sounding like velvet, even with her voice still being laced with that initial worry.

Sylus cared for Silia and wanted to make sure she was happy, even if it meant him practising a skill he wasn't 100 percent sure of. Seeing Silia there, so worried about him, made his heart melt. Seeing the care that she gave to him made him, the Leader of Onychinus, feel like he could show weakness, and lean on her. “I promise I won’t push myself in this.” He responded as Silia leaned back, but still held his hand.

They started practising the next day with Silia having her blonde hair tied up along with Sylus, in a fitted tank top tied with his black shorts. Silia had her white sports top along with black leggings. The room had a lighting panel that Sylus had installed ages ago, but never really used, and it ended up being a space where Onychinus would make dealings in a more casual manner and with more newbie criminal groups.

Solia grabbed some water that had been sitting on the wooden table and walked towards the stage, leaning against the bottom of it. “Right, let's get started.” She said as she took a sip of her water. “I’ll watch you go over what you have learned, then we can go over step by step, what may need improving. You'll look like a professional in no time.” She said with a slight smirk.

Sylus nodded as he looked up at her. He got onto the small stage as Silia put on the atmospheric yet rudimentary lighting. Sylus danced across the stage as Silia kept her hawk-like gaze on him. She wasn't going to hold back on her feedback, even if Sylus was her boyfriend. Sylus moved across the stage dynamically, but she noticed that some of his moves looked slightly messy and incomplete.

Sylus locked his gaze onto Silia. This was almost more nerve wracking than being on any mission. To have Silia looking at him, someone he cared about, who was the one who would be giving that final result; it made him want to succeed. He had to remember that this was because she trusted him to make sure the mission was successful. This was not just something that put his reputation on the line… It also risked hers.

As Sylus finished dancing, Silia narrowed her gaze as if to ponder over what she could do to make the dance feel more fluid. “How was it, kitten?” He asked breathlessly as Silia walked over to hand him a towel. He grabbed it from her hand to dab his forehead. Silia, in her head, began to memorise the moves and the different details of it.

“It was good, but maybe we need to slow it down and go bit by bit.” She suggested, as Sylus turned around to look at Silia, nodding. “Let's do that,” he responded confidently. Silia nodded and began to mirror the moves, slowly. She had to keep in mind that Sylus had a different style and flair of dancing compared to her more elegant style.

“Follow my lead,” she said as she watched Sylus place the towel down. She did the moves from the top, making sure Sylus was following. There were moments where she would have to raise his arm or advise on where his feet were placed so that he could move swifter, and so the moves looked stronger but also more fluid.

After a few hours, Silia backed up, looking at Sylus. “Right, from the top!” she commands excitedly as Sylus chuckles and winks, “As you say, kitten,” he responds, mirroring her playful tone. He started dancing, and Silia nodded, that hawk-like gaze coming back as the lights went back up. Sylus was now in his element, taking in Silia’s feedback deeply.

He started dancing while Silia watched, noticing his improvement and how quickly he had picked up the dancing, even if it took some intervention from her to make it work. When he finished, Silia started clapping and he approached her to pull her into a hug, her eyes widening slightly. “I couldn’t have done this without you, Silia…” he said, his voice soft and almost triumphant.

Seeing Sylus being so open with her wasn't new; however, she was happy to see him get more comfortable with her, even if it was a long and slow process for both of them. She knew that this would challenge their trust. She knew that he wouldn’t do something like this if it weren't for her stepping in. She was happy that, even if it was small, they were making progress.

Sylus grabbed her hand as if to spin her around, and Silia giggled in response. “Haven’t you got a section in our routine, kitten?” He asked as Silia looked down and pondered for a moment. She glanced over to Sylus and raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure? I wanted the routine to be focused on you. Wouldn't that be ruined if I were a part of it?” Silia said as Sylus caresses her cheek, making her meet his gaze.

“It won’t ruin anything. You are a part of my life and a very important part at that,” he said as he held her hand with his free one. “Therefore, you should be a part of this performance with me. You not being involved in this would just feel wrong.” He sounded so sure as he said this. Silia sighed and slowly nodded. “Okay, maybe tomorrow we can work on a section with both of us involved.” She said with a bright, yet hesitant smile.

Sylus looked at her, chuckling. He felt very happy that she wanted to include him in her section of the performance. “Let's practice,” Silia added as she unfurled herself from Sylus but still kept hold of his hand as she slowly guided him to the stage. She saw Sylus' smile reveal itself as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

They both started practising together as Silia looked down, making sure her moves were in harmony with Sylus. Sylus, on the other hand, had noticed her and the way she was overthinking her movements. “Silia, focus on me and nothing else.” He said, his voice smooth as butter, as Silia looked up and nodded. She soon naturally fell into motion with him as they moved gracefully across the stage.

Sylus dipped her as she laughed, sounding like soft music to Sylus’ ears. As the song closed, he lifted Silia back up while keeping her in his arms. That night, Sylus heard the song that they were dancing to from Silia’s office, accompanied by soft cawing from Mephisto. He sighed, assuming Silia was most likely in her office working herself late, yet again.

Sylus knocked on Silia’s door. “Kitten~ Come on, you're working yourself to the bone again…” He said, opening the door. He found Silia asleep at her desk with Mephisto sleeping alongside her. His eyes softened as he glanced down to see the notes she'd written. He took a glance over them. They looked messy but also very detailed.

He lifted Silia delicately with one hand as she was too deep in sleep to notice. He felt his heart melt as he heard soft snores coming from her. He moved her into his room, placing her down onto the bed and tucking her in. After a day of rest instructed by Sylus, the evening came and went, and Sylus had been practising his own part here and there throughout the day.

They were soon back in that practice room; however, now Luke and Kieran were there as an audience. Sylus sighed as he glanced at Silia. “I thought you wanted them out of this?” He asked, leaning against a wall near the stage. Silia threw him a towel. “Well, we do need an audience. I just didn't trust them instructing you.” She said, not noticing the frowns evident from Luke and Kieran, not even with their masks on.

They both started dancing, focusing mainly on each other but also on the music and the moves that they had both learned together. This was the real test of their teamwork, not just in a sense of going on missions or into battle, but also in how to be in sync and have the synergy that they missed when they were separated.

Luke and Kieran watched Silia and Sylus dancing gracefully across the stage. They had also brought themselves glowsticks. Mephisto had joined as well, not with glowsticks, but he waved his wings enthusiastically to simulate a feeling of a wider audience being there. Even if it was silly, Silia felt like it really helped her and Sylus get into the zone.

The dance was fast, matching the more energetic pop sound that was within the song. Sylus held her like she was delicate, and would break if let go. Once they had finished the routine, Silia gave him a peck on the lips before walking off the stage and grabbing a white towel. She threw Sylus the second towel.

Silia looked over at Luke and Kieran to see their reaction as she raised an eyebrow. “You did amazing, Boss!” Luke cheered, then Kieran followed, saying, “Yeah! You both looked like idols!” This made Sylus chuckle as he met Silia’s gaze. “I think we should be ready for that mission. Don’t you think so as well, kitten?” He asked with a teasing lilt in his tone. Silia paused for a moment, turning her head around as she was caught off guard.

“Well… I guess.” Silia was overthinking every movement and was nervous that even with that, it still wouldn't be enough. Sylus noticed her debating with herself. He tilted his head and walked over to her. “Look, we can do this. We have faced harder challenges before, and this one will be no different.” He states confidently as he embraces Silia from behind.

Silia looked behind at Sylus meeting his crimson eyes. His gaze felt like a warm blanket of comfort for her as she nodded and touched her forehead against his. “Okay, we can do this.” She repeats, smiling and glancing at Luke and Kieran, who have their thumbs up in support. Silia laughs and Sylus joins in, filling the room with a warm happiness.

The day of the mission soon arrived. Silia got into the passenger seat and Sylus slid into the driver's seat of a sleek black sports car. Luke and Kieran had been ordered to go in a separate car. “We can do this…” Silia states as if to bring a positive light into the mission and lower her anxiety. Sylus covered her hand and glanced to the side at her. “Trust me. We will do this.”

Sylus looked towards the road as they started driving to the nearest hotel. The Polar Night had officially covered the sky in a beautiful darkness that blanketed not only the usually dark N109 Zone but also Linkon as well, which was something Silia was not used to. She looked out the window as they got closer to one of Onychinus’ bases near the venue.

As they drove, Sylus noticed how Silia was dazed, focusing on the beautiful night sky of the Polar Night. Her safe space for herself extended more than just the base but also within the car since she was alone with Sylus. “What's wrong, kitten? Is this about the mission?” He asks, concerned that she was wavering on being involved. “No, I’ve just never gotten to experience a Polar Night like this before. I was always hiding, or too busy, especially during the Polar Night itself.”

Sylus, who had experienced the Polar Night alone, was glad, deep inside, that he was able to share that magical moment with someone, especially with someone who hadn't had the experience before. “I will make sure that the Polar Night isn't just about the mission then, but that it's the best Polar Night of your life.” He enthused.

Silia paused as her eyes widened, and she turned her head to look towards Sylus. “T-Thank you.” She replied, taken aback by his response. He always promised the world to her, but this felt more special to her than any of the most expensive jewels and shoes he could offer her. “I would enjoy that a lot.” She says, blushing lightly as Sylus chuckles, revelling in the fact that he was able to get her to blush.

They soon arrived at the base. Sylus parked and Silia got out of the car. The day they both looked forward to and also feared soon arrived as they both got ready to start the mission within the venue next door. The venue was bustling with music, a band was performing on stage, the club busy with people walking around with their drinks in hand.

Silia was wearing a red dress with a corset around her waist, with Sylus matching her outfit, wearing a red and black suit with black trousers. They both walked in, ignoring but also revelling in the gazes on them both. People knew that they had been a couple, especially people from the criminal world, so the gazes were not a surprise.

The room was dark, with people yelling, dancing and talking with each other amongst the loud music. Silia and Sylus scope the area and the multiple floors of the club. “This place is bigger than any other club I’ve been to,” Silia said, voice filled with wonder as she glanced around, both focused and in awe. Sylus looked at her and shrugged, unimpressed, “This is elementary compared to any of the clubs in the N109 Zone”.

Silia looked back at Sylus as she giggled quietly at his uninterested expression, and he then wrapped an arm around her to nonverbally say, “You're sticking with me.” They slowly walked through the busy crowd as the music echoed through the walls and floors of the club. They headed toward the backstage. Luke and Kieran, before arriving at the club, had secured fake artist's passes that they would both use to get backstage.

Sylus and Silia both put their passes on. Once Sylus was done putting his on, he turned to make sure hers was secure as well. He then leaned down to her ear. “Trust me. We will not only win… We will triumph.” He whispered to her as he pulled back and winked at Silia as she playfully rolled her eyes and nudged him.

They walked towards the backstage door nudging through the crowds of people, as Sylus made sure that no one would touch a hair on Silia and that she was protected while wandering through the crowd. They both arrived near the door, two security guards in black suits were checking artist's passes to make sure that people were not sneaking through.

Sylus looked at the guard, his gaze fixed as if reading his expression, the guard looked down at both of their passes as if to analyse them. The guard then nodded as both Sylus and Silia walked through the back door. Luke and Kieran had texted Sylus regarding an empty dressing room, and Sylus looked behind him towards Silia. “Follow me.” He whispered to her while his grip on her hand tightened.

Silia followed Sylus towards the dressing room and they both walked in. It was initially dark; however, Sylus flicked the lights on as the room finally glowed with artificial light. He looked over at Silia as she paused for a moment before letting go of his hand slowly. She went over to one of the mirrors with lights around it, and she began to fix her hair and makeup.

Sylus stood behind Silia as she fixed her blusher and applied her lipstick. “You look beautiful… You always look beautiful.” He murmured as Silia blushed even brighter than the blush she was applying. She took a deep sigh in and out. Sylus had noticed this, as he stood behind her, reassuring, “We can do this.” He placed her hand on her shoulders as if to share his confidence with her and to boost her up.

“I-I know we will.” She replies, the worry she once had now replaced with a confident smile. It was a smile that Sylus was happy to see, now that she was finally ready for this mission ahead, and he was too. The dragon was going to make sure his queen shone like the brightest treasure. Sylus quickly used the mirror to fix his tie as they both got up.

They both walked onto the bright stage as the lights soon came up. It was Sylus' turn first before Silia would later join him on the stage. She watched as Sylus moved smoothly and was also able to captivate the audience. She was mesmerised by him. How quickly he had learned the moves had surprised her, but he was now nailing all of it.

Silia joined then, smiling confidently, thanks to Sylus’ constant praise. She'd never felt more like herself than when she was with him. She started grabbing his shoulder as they danced together, Silia throwing all her trust towards Sylus. She had ignored the cheers of the audience, her focus only on him as they moved together. She made sure she was not only confident and smooth in her moves but also in sync with Sylus.

As the song came to a close, Sylus dipped Silia, his gaze fixed on only her and no one else. The crowd cheered as Silia looked from the crowd and up to Sylus as she leaned up to kiss him. As they headed backstage, Sylus looked down at the texts by Luke and Kerien. “Good news, kitten. They have found the group.” Sylus says with a smirk as Silia turns her head, her expression matching his own.

After a busy night for the two, they had both woken up the next morning ready to head back as the Polar Night was soon to come to an end. Silia sighed. “I’m going to miss the Polar Night.” She said as she looked down and folded up the black dress in her hand. Sylus came out from the bathroom after brushing his teeth, looking over at Silia.

He was wearing more casual yet still formal clothes with a grey sweater and black trousers. “This doesn’t have to be our only Polar Night. There will be more in the future, and I will make sure each is better than the last.” He says softly, walking behind Silia and kissing her cheek. Silia giggled, feeling butterflies as she grabbed the red dress, folding it and putting it into the suitcase.

“You promise?” Silia whispered quietly as she continued to fold up her clothes. “I promise,” Sylus whispered into her ear. She continued to finish off her packing into a small black bag. Once done, they both headed off into the car. The sun rose as Silia looked out at the sunrise, and she glanced over at Sylus. Sylus parked up for a moment to look at the sun rising, bringing an end to the Polar Night.

“Goodnight, Sylus...” Silia said as Sylus then followed by saying “Good morning, Silia.” They kissed with the backdrop of the winter sunrise.
