Work Text:
A green-eyed Gryffindor walks into a bar
No lion’s strength or golden mane
Shoulders slumped on a haggard frame
Worn down weary under the enormous weight
Of a hero’s duty that just won’t abate
A red-robed Slytherin walks into a bar
The crowd parts as if he is still a snake
Unable to escape his past mistakes
No matter how hard and long he tries
To erase the burden of his past life’s ties
A Gryffindor and a Slytherin sit alone in a bar
Their lives unfettered and unfullfilled
So far removed from dreams since killed
Each a picture of loneliness framed
Holding onto a wish so far unclaimed
A Slytherin and a Gryffindor order drinks at a bar
Across a crowded bartop their eyes meet
Their history falling between them like sleet
But more than the bitterness of unshaken hands
Is the realisation that someone finally understands
A Gryffindor and a Slytherin stumble out of a bar
Pushing and pulling in a tangle of limbs
Emotions rising to wash away their sins
The world falls away under the sweet buzz of whisky
As they indulge in a temptation far too risky
A Slytherin and a Gryffindor kiss outside a bar
First an escape then quickly a need
As feelings grow from that first planted seed
Everything looks worse in the cold and dark
But love grows warm as a bright golden spark
