I will probably edit this over time as I come up with new ideas...

Chapter Text

★ To most, Ivor appears to lack intelligence. This isn't exactly the case; he is eloquent and polite with his language, but struggles with social rules, 'reading the room' and can focus too much on one thing, leading him to neglect the bigger picture. His habit of speaking/acting before thinking things through properly have gotten him into all kinds of hot water, and he has little danger sense.

His pursuit of strength has naturally meant that he lacks knowledge in other areas, but he's always open to learning new things. The good thing about Ivor is that he's not arrogant or cocky. He's happy for people to point out his faults, so he can find ways to work on them... it just seems to take him a little longer to make them stick. He has a low processing speed.

★ Ivor (and Gwynn, obviously) are originally from the Galar region. Their mother is Galarian and their father is Kalosian. They lived in Wedgehurst until Ivor was around the age of 7, but following on from the messy divorce of their parents, Ivor and Gwynn spent most of their childhood in Galar, visiting their father in Lumiose City during vacations.

★ They moved to Lumiose permanently when Ivor was 13 after their mother's untimely death. It was around this period that Gwynn developed a fascination with ghost-type Pokémon. Ivor never really processed this grief properly and instead threw himself into his training to become stronger, something that only intensified further after his traumatic defeat at the hands of Lebanne.

★ Ivor has always had a difficult relationship with his father, but it became a whole lot worse during his teenage years. Whilst his father was never outright abusive towards either of his children, he was often neglectful and emotionally distant, leading the siblings to become co-dependent on each other. Their father was more interested in touring the different regions of the world than being permanently tied down by his two teenage kids in Lumiose, and Ivor was expected to look after his little sister at home during these excursions. Gwynn became fiercely independent through this; it was usually her looking after Ivor as opposed to the opposite way round.

★ Their father moved away from Kalos when Ivor was 17, leaving them with the apartment. Neither Ivor, nor Gwynn, have seen their father in the flesh in years, he communicates with the occasional travel postcard. Gwynn receives slightly more updates via Rotom phone, but there's no real love lost there. During this time, Ivor continues to dedicate himself to his training (both his self-improvement and his Pokémon) and earns a decent living through battling and the odd cash-in-hand job on construction sites in the city.

★ In the wake of the Geosenge Town Disaster and Lysandre's defeat after firing the Ultimate Weapon 5 years ago, Ivor became almost obsessive over his goal of becoming stronger and being able to protect those most dear to him. It was through this pursuit that he purchased a training ground and created the Fist of Justice organisation. The membership consists mostly of women; Ivor is extremely mindful of his position as a positive male role model, vowing to be the strong, caring figure that he wished his own father could have been. He can be somewhat oblivious with social cues, but his heart is definitely in the right place.

★ His oldest Pokémon, Falinks, was caught in Galar when Ivor was 10.

★ The martial arts he practices is most similar to Taekwondo.

★ The age gap between Ivor and his sister is only 3 years. Currently, Ivor is 27 and Gwynn is 24.

★ Undiagnosed AuDHD. It's not severe enough that it disrupts his life/requires too many accommodations. Ivor is hypo-sensitive; he has an extremely high physical pain tolerance and most of his sensory seeking unknowingly revolves around pain stimming. It's why he's so into his martial arts and hand-to-hand combat with Pokémon. His emotional regulation is fairly shit and has trouble with volume control. He struggles with hyperactivity and impulsivity. He has a very strong sense of justice and can easily become so short-sighted on a goal that he neglects to see the impact elsewhere around him... case in point, all the trouble he caused for Gwynn during the Z-A Royale.

★ Ivor loves his sister dearly. Unbeknownst to others, it is actually reciprocal... Gwynn just doesn't wear her heart on her sleeve as much, and her affectionate gestures are far less pronounced. They've always been very close, even more so after the death of their mother and their father's neglect. Her tolerance for cleaning up after Ivor's messes have greatly diminished as she's gotten older. She wants him to become more independent, and has been known to show him tough love.

One of his favorite activities to do with Gwynn is watching random PokéTube videos with her on the couch, with her holding the Rotom phone. He doesn't care about what they watch, he just enjoys her company and her sardonic commentary. He respects that Gwynn likes to watch her Canari streams alone, though. He doesn't know very much about Canari and Gwynn would prefer it stays that way.

Of course, he also hugely values their training sessions at the dojo, as well as Pokémon battles... despite him being at a disadvantage against her ghost-types.

★ He has always related better to Pokémon than people, as much as he enjoys being a social butterfly and genuinely valuing human connection in his later years. His Pokémon seem to be able to sense how he's feeling without him having to express it through words and Ivor finds comfort in that. His Gallade and Medicham are particularly good for this, but out of habit, he usually goes to his Falinks first; the one that's been with him through thick and thin, his most loyal companion.

These days, whenever he has a problem or something he's musing upon, he'll usually consult one of his Pokémon first. Not that they can actually offer him any advice, but more as a way to collect his thoughts and order them in a coherent manner. They do try to physically stop him if he's about to do something genuinely stupid, however...

He grew up surrounded by Pokémon, which is why he feels so strongly about abolishing wild zones. As far as he's concerned, Pokémon have supported him more than some humans in his life. All captured Pokémon were once wild and therefore they have the right to co-exist in the same spaces as humans. Ivor isn't completely dense, and realizes that wild Pokémon can be dangerous. He firmly believes that the Fist of Justice can equip people with the skills to manage this... scarily optimistic in this mindset.

★ Ivor refuses to talk in too much detail about what happened when he and Lebanne were younger, only that it involved a battle and a physical altercation afterwards. He seems to be quite relieved about the fact that Lebanne is now under the thumb of Jacinthe. He is still wary of her regardless, frightened that the vicious girl she once was when they were kids might re-emerge at any time.

★ Coffee hypes him up too much and he generally avoids drinking alcohol, he doesn't like the feeling of being out of control. He eats clean and healthy, but is partial to a Lumiose galette as a treat. Ivor tends to stick to simple meals; less for him to screw up as he isn't the best chef, and he enjoys cooking for the people he cares about. However he will, on occasion, relent and order takeout however, if his meal plans end in disaster...
