Work Text:

The three of them were walking through the eastern forest. The sun hidden behind dark gray clouds and rain poring from the sky It was almost… peaceful out after the burning of their land. Ash stretched her wings out her wings protecting the other two from the rain. Quinn looked up at her with a pained smiled. “Thanks Ash..” The drac nodded back at her with her own smile. The drac was big and tall thanks to her inheriting strength. . Her hair was still tied in scale knots (basically corn rows) that were short. She carried herself with confidence and pride. Her wings protecting them both from the rain. Red and blue scales spattered across her face, and long blue and red dragon tail. She even had claws and talons. She wore armor made out of red dragon scales. The drac had told her that she would have been performing if it hadn’t been for the fire.. but that was all she knew about Ash Hardly any of them could talk together.
They stuck together for safety. But What was there to talk about to began with!? The fact there land had been burned! The fact that Alian almsot died!? The fact Quinn had lost half her face to the same flamed that ate her mother! The fact she couldn’t look at herself without feeling hatred.

Her mind ate away at her.. she didn’t even know these people.. lucky that they were helping her! And should have left her to die. There was no use in helping her! She couldn’t do anything. She was in fact just a fat forest elf who now had half a face. She couldn’t do anything.. her thoughts trailed off as they walked. Her brain was a whirlwind. Thoughts of cutting herself open, and the pain on her face. Her face half burned off in the fire.. two days prior. She tried desperately to ignore it. But it was hard to ignore that she couldn’t see out of one eye. And the face she kept tripping over sticks. Sticks she tried to ignore. but gradually calming in the take in the sounds around her. She was glad Mist had taught her that trick.

The only sound around them was heart fox’s, and the other two walking. Alian was a quiet nervous walked she had noticed.. quick on his feet, an careful not to trip over the cloak he wore. She turned to him, taking in his appearance. She hadn’t gotten a good look at him, which was incredibly surprising. It had been a day since they knew each other. Finding him stumbling through the forest like a mad man. His hair was choppy and put on in two buns. Unlike the long flowing, or short choppy hair men normally wore. But he didn’t look normal in general. For starters he wore a long cloak like thing. But opening it was a big piece of gray fabric, that matched his gray skin, and gray hair. He wore very thin cloth like wrappings on his feet, and he looked bruised all over. And was just all gray. And sad looking. She didn’t know what to think of him. She didn’t really ever hear his voice either. But it was clear he was also just here for safety like them.

She looked up at Ash again. The drac was beautiful… she wished she looked that way. That confident in herself. It would be nice. “Ash.” Quinn mumbled nervously. The drac looked back at her and nodded “hmm?” Quinn looked back ahead at the forest. “What was it like in the kingdom of the sky dracs? “Well” the drac “well you mean Draigawyr? That’s what most places call it.” She continued “where called draigs not dracs…” Quinn turned her head to rolled her eyes. Why did the ‘draig’ not just answer her question? But still ash continued “you forest elf’s are an odd bunch straying away so much from the rest of the continent..” The drac paused to look up at the sky. Quinn turned to back to watch as the water pored off of her head “To answer your question.. it was hard. I trained all the time for war. Had to learn to ride the Cunomas (giant wolfs) from a young age… it was worth it though!”

Quinn just nodded and zoned out again. The drac fell silent and turned her head away. Quinn almost wondered if she felt sad. But in the end They all fell silent. She thought about bothering the cave elf (Alian) but decided to leave him be. They continued to walk through the forest and think about everything. It was probably the only part of the whole forest on this side of the mountains who remained decently untouched by the sky dragons wrath.
