Work Text:

"You're awfully quiet today, Cerulean."
Azure looked over their shoulder as they laid on the grass, staring at the blue-haired Robloxian sitting besides them.

"...It's nothing. I was just...wondering what we'd do over the next few years, I think." Cerulean looked down at their feet, fidgeting with the friendship bracelet around their fingers. "I appreciate the concern, though. I'm happy that you invited me to go stargazing with you though. It feels...nice. Don't you think so too, Azure?" A sigh escaped their mouth as they finally looked up, looking at Azure with glassy eyes.

This wasn't the first time the two would go stargazing together. They've been on dates together to numerous places, but Cerulean just seemed so nervous, seemingly for no reason at all. Their hands continued to fiddle with the bracelet albeit their (poorly disguised) attempt to hide their stress.
"Cerulean? Are you okay?" Azure asked meekly, afraid to disturb the teenager in their state of rumination.
Cerulean didn't respond. They seemed anxious, though for an unknown reason. They were completely lost in their own thoughts, their breath growing heavier each second as their hands began to shake. Sweat formed on their forehead as they tried to find any semblance of control over their anxiety.
"Cerulean!"
They blinked once, twice, then looked at Azure. The realisation dawned on them that they have been spaced out for way too long, possibly for a minute or so. This was weird. There wasn't anything that caused them to be this anxious before, and they only just started acting like this when Azure was besides them. They didn't know what exactly got them so worked up.

Cerulean brushed the thought aside, turning to face Azure with the friendship bracelet in their hands.
"I made this for you...I'm not the best at making things like this, but I hope you'll still like it."
Azure's eyes lit up, their hands clasped around Cerulean's. "It's fine. You're my best friend, and I'll always appreciate everything my best friend gives to me!"

"...Yeah...anyways...do you ever think we'll stay friends for the rest of our lives?" Cerulean asked with a shaky voice, still a bit anxious from their train of thoughts. "I really want to spend the rest of my life with you...and I just really enjoy spending my time with you. I'm not saying this just for you to keep liking me but because...I care about you, Azure."

Azure giggled, a smile across their face. "Silly you. I know these words come deep from your heart! Of course we'll be best friends forever, don't you think so? Even the biggest of hardships will never tear us apart...no matter how serious it is, I care for you, too."
Another sigh escaped Cerulean's lips. They're not certain if those words would truly be enough, nor be something that could make the link between them unbreakable. Still, they hoped those words would sink in, be the anchor to their friendship, for the rest of their lives. Perhaps they were overthinking too much, or just desperate to stay best friends with the one person they considered so.

But one day, they truly hoped to make those words a reality.
