Work Text:

Gardenview was made to educate kids and show the young kids that they are special and unique no matter how left out or "different" they feel. Gardenview had each toon teaching a new subject of some sort. Every toon was created to have a specific personality that matched their character in the show that streamed for a few years but later got cut off. Now that they think about it, the toons always seemed a little TOO realistic for a kids museum. The thing is, they are made out of a substance called ichor, and it formed who they were. But behind the scenes, they all too felt lifeless.

Gardenview has been shut down. The halls of Gardenview are devoid of children’s laughter, which is no longer there. The toons have been abandoned, left with no sense of purpose. With toon handlers gone, nobody is there to keep the toons in order. After the shutdown, the once cheerful cast felt like downgraded shells of their former selves. The only comfort they received was from the perception of there being hope for the future. The hope will never come back.

[Time skip to a few weeks later]

Shelly…!" Vee called out to try to get any kind of response throughout the abandoned warehouse, but yet, no response. The silence was nearly deafening. She searched and searched for nearly 3 hours straight but to no avail.

She always thought about her girlfriend even more than usual due to her absence for several days; she seemed to be even more stressed about her. But despite this, she still needed to do the 6 machines on the floor. So she sat in front of the machine and tapped the valve until a few drops came out of the nozzle.

Dark ichor began to flow through the glass of the machine. The faint filling grew louder and steadier as the substance filled its core.

She tried to focus. The slow gurgling of the ichor nearing its finish, this job was supposed to be grounding, something steady and predictable.

She kept turning the valve until she came to an abrupt stop. She heard something. What could it possibly be? Who knows, but of course she just HAD to check it out. She followed the soft growling that sounded nearly dino-like until it led her to a room she had never been to before. She never even knew this spot existed!

Until she came across a cage that seemed to hold... something... After a long hesitation, she finally decided to use her microphone and show all the twisteds with a neon green highlight, only to see a distorted version of Shelly. A loud screech greeted her as she saw the twisted, demonic-looking version of her.

The top half still looked like her. But her pale face seemed... familiar, eyes burning with that same determined fire she used to have, but everything below her chest was completely wrong. Her spine stretched unnaturally long, skin splitting where it fused into a bony, scaled frame. Clawed limbs struck the ground with a predator’s rhythm, tail lashing with each stride.

It was obvious that it was her. The shine in her eyes grew as Shelly saw her girlfriend. Despite how afraid of her form Vee was, she stood still while Shelly was trying to sniff her for even a slight smell of her past self. Vee got an idea and started to rummage through her bright green bag to find her participation award from when Gardenview was open and full of kids wanting to learn about Shelly and the dinosaurs' ages. She pulled it out slowly and attached it to Shelly's broken goggles so Shelly could see and smell it but not grab it, for her arms were almost as small as a T-Rex's arms.

Shelly's eyes grew larger, and she smiled widely, but this time not in a fierce way. It looked more heartfelt than anything. Shelly slowly walked closer to Vee and sat in front of her with her ichor-covered tail thumping against the ground almost like an excited dog seeing their owner again.

However, the dinosaur twisted was trying to get more information about her past due to the ichor dripping out of her shell head; it most likely made her have brain damage to the point where she doesn't remember anything about anyone or anything at all. Not even her girlfriend. However, she did remember Vee's smell of stale air, dusty plastic, and burning electronic engines.

Vee seemed to have love for Shelly despite her twisted appearance.

"Come here, shells. I won't hurt you…" Vee tried to reassure the twisted that was once her partner that she wasn't a danger to her. Shelly slowly approached her with caution as Vee held a robotic arm up to her cracked shell; she could feel the radiation off of her. Vee's sensors would go insane amongst everything that has happened. if she didn't already turn them off beforehand. Shelly cautiously nudged against Vee's metal hand with a small whimper at the feeling of the warmth.

Vee's screen showed a question mark due to the sounds that the twisted toon was making. She had never come across a completely passive twisted. The only passive twisted ones were Connie, Razzle&Dazzle, Blot, and Rodger. Even then they only would attack when provoked. As Shelly made soft content sounds, her ichor-covered tail would wag speedily, splashing ichor on the walls around them.
