Work Text:
Someday your freedom will be your revenge. You won't be wasting your life away in here for a crime you didn't commit. If you had sung about national secrets while live, it would be a memorable moment DAMMIT!
Instead it is the opposite. You remember everything EXCEPT that.
Which makes it suspicious.
Not that it's a surprise. Everything about how you ended up in jail is suspicious. This jail itself is suspicious.
There are only two other prisoners in here. A man they claimed took siege of the metro police department before burning it down. And a man they claimed killed his wife.
You look at the supposed arsonist, and you can not believe it. Him. No! And the supposed murderer wants to die by execution.
You could almost respect that, if he wasn't a pig. Government suck-up. Wanting to bring back the death penalty even if it's his life on the line. It's almost metal, his dedication to a cause, if the cause weren't absolute garbage.
It's ultimately why you don't invite him into the escape plan you have with the curry man. You are not just going to waste your time, twiddling your thumbs in jail. No, you are going to escape. And when you do, you will sing your songs.
The music will be the true revenge. This time you won't perform live and get caught so easily. The only memento you will take is your name.
The name they gave you.
C38. An way for them to dehumanize you, even as they pin you for a crime you never committed. You aren't allowed to be human to them. So that is the name you will post your revenge songs under. Songs about arsonists, and spies, and maybe even the man who brought back the death penalty.
They say you have nothing but time left in prison, but it is not time you intend to spend idly. For you it is time to write songs, time to escape, time for revenge.
The next time you sing about government secrets, they will be ones you have stolen.
