Work Text:

Days in hospital were boring, that was true. It was the same routine as always: wake up, the doctors and nurses check, breakfast, silence, loneliness and repeat. Without mention the moments when same doctors and nurses would hurry whenever a patient need it.

The first months were like nothing thanks to the coma, but now Fox was awake, and that means that she sees and listens to everything everyday.

At least she could have visits of her Warriors; with an exact amount of time, but enough to cheer her up. Food would have cheer her too... If it didn't taste that bad. She have avoid eating it almost the whole time, throwing it to the trash or giving it to someone else. Thought nobody would notice. Of course, someone would do it.

"Knock, knock!" Said with a smile the shortest member, knocking the door of the youngest's room. Fox lifted up her head, and showed a big smile at seeing Cochise, "Co!" She exclaimed, clearly happy. "How you doing, little soldier?" Asked the oldest as she approached the chair and then sat down in it, "How have the doctors treat you?"

"Everything's good, althought a bit boring" admited Fox, looking at the window for a second. "How much longer would I stay here?" She asked, sounding a bit sad, "You know that the doctors have the word, they just want to make sure you'll be fine"

"But I am okay, I feel real good!" Answered the youngest, "Really?" Asked with an eyebrow raised Cochise, "Of course!" Responded Fox. "Mhm, well, you won't get better if you keep avoiding the food or throwing it away" Fox stayed quiet at that, trying to find a good answer, but before she could say something, Cochise spoke again "In case you haven't noticed, you look a little thinner and paler".

"Pfft, I'm okay, Coch, really" said Fox, but Cochise stayed serious. "Okay, fine, you win..." Admitted the youngest after a little sigh, "I might have been avoiding the food". "Why? You've always loved it, doesn't matter where we eat or if we cook it back at home. You even ate a burned cookie once" said Cochise with one of the most empathetic looks she have gave someone. "I ate the burned cookie beacuse it still tasted like something you could eat. Here the food it's... It doesn't have any taste! The teas have no sugar, the soup has no salt, and the vegetables don't even taste like vegetables! They taste like..." Paused the youngest, looking for the correct word, "Like dust or paper or cardboard".

"Well, if the food doesn't have salt or sugar there's a reason behind it" explained Cochise, "Yes, I know that I had some surgeries and operations, but that was a long time ago" said Fox, trying to explain her reasons. "True, but you're still healing. And if you stop eating it could affect you and make you stay more time", that kinda snapped something in the young girl, who stared eyes wide open to the oldest. "You can't be serious" she said, "If you want to leave sooner, then you have to eat".

Fox looked down, thinking about every posibility. Cochise noticed it, "I'll tell you what" she said, standing up, "If you promise me you'll eat the food from here once you get out of here I'll get you whatever snack or food you want". Fox's eyes sparkled at the idea, "Really? Even one of those Icee? And a burger and some fries?" She asked, And she's back, thought Cochise for a moment, "I do. Soldier promise" she said at the same time she gave a military salute, making Fox laugh a little.

"Fine, I'll eat the food... But just beacuse you said it and I don't want you telling Cleon that I'm not eating or she'll force me" said Fox, "I won't" said Cochise. "Oh, and by the way" said Cochise while taking off of her jacket some comics that she hide, "I think that you don't have these ones. They're new I guess" said the oldest while handing the comics to the young girl, who let out a exited gasp. "Oh, yes! Thank you Cochise!" Exclaimed Fox to then embrace Cochise, "Careful, little soldier" said the oldest while giving back the embrace, "You're still a bit injured"

"Who cares about that when you have a great friend who knows you well and makes you feel better?", Cochise gave a little smile at the comment. Even though Fox was injured, she would still embrace with all her strength. Who knows what they would do without the warm of them.
