Chapter Text
The Pride Ring of hell seemed to die after the moment Vox tried to lead a rally to storm heaven in some act of terrorism.
And after all of that, Hell was quiet, for a moment at least. But there were quiet whispers around the sinners that something was happening between The famed radio demon and the king of Hell. Everyone saw it after the almost-takedown. How close Lucifer and Alastor seemed to get to each other.
Something was going on.
But nothing was ever seen after that.
Alastor was seen around the Pride ring from time to time, doing his own thing, hosting his radio show, but that was about it. Basically, there wasn’t a king of Hell by his side.
And the sinners slowly began to believe that ‘Radioapple’ (as they called it) was no longer a thing, much to their dismay.
Alastor was no stranger to the whispers that happened behind his back, as people whispered that he and the king of Hell used to be a thing, now they were nothing. Maybe the radio demon left the king of hell, like Lilith did. Maybe they were never together at all. And the whole time Alastor could hear these whispers around Cannibal Town, he just looked on straight ahead, keeping the same smirk on his face.
And the rumour seemed to be heard the most in Cannibal Town. The ‘best friend’ of Rosie is running off with the king of Hell.
And Rosie… she didn’t like that rumour one bit, as the Radio demon stepped into her cafe one day. She sat there at the table in the far corner of the cafe, glaring right at Alastor over the rim of her mug as she was taking one long, pointed sip. Dark, menacing…
Rosie is not fucking around today.
“What is it about this rumour going around my town…” Her voice was dark, gritty as Alastor kept his hands clasped behind his back, and holding onto his staff tightly. His feet tap lightly along the floor as he walked over to the table.
And for a moment, he tried to feign ignorance. “What rumour are we talking about, Rosie? There’s so many of them…”
Rosie glared at Alastor as he pulled out the chair and sat down at the table. It was like he told the worst joke in all of hell.
“You know what rumour I’m talking about, Al.” She sighed as she placed the mug down. She then leaned back against the chair, pressing her hands together. “The one about… Radioapple. Ring a bell?”
Alastor kept the smile on his face, despite the slight twitching in his eye at the sheer mention of him and Lucifer being together. He heard the rumour around the Pride ring so much, the whispers that were heard whenever he passed anyone, the weird glances anyone would give him.
It was inescapable.
His ears pinned back against his skull and he rolled his eyes. “Don’t you dare remind me.”
But there was still no smile on Rosie’s face, the frown seemed to grow deeper. “So. Is it true…”
Alastor stared at her. “Who’s saying it is…”
Rosie stared at him for a few seconds longer before she reached forward again and picked up her cup. “Everyone, Al. Everyone is saying how the King of Hell is now in a relationship with the radio demon.”
Alastor glared for a moment, watching Rosie take a sip of her tea. He then crossed his arms across his chest. “Well, it’s not.”
Rosie took the cup away from her lips, glaring over the rim of the cup. “You better not be lying to me, Al.”
Alastor rolled his eyes. “Rosie,” He began as he leaned forward, pressing his hand down on the table, claws spread out. “We aren’t dating, and we never have.”
Rosie is quiet for a moment, placing her mug down on the table. She also leaned closer to Alastor, practically getting face to face with him. You better not have, Al. That could put you against your contract…”
Alastor let out a little growl, his signature grin growing sharper with his teeth barred. He leaned forward some more, lifting himself out of his chair as he practically came nose to nose with her. “And I’m not lying, my dear. I haven’t dated that… dickhead. And it will never happen.” He moves back, sitting himself back down on the chair, going back to the first position of his arms crossed over his chest.
Rosie was silent, sitting herself back down in her chair, relaxing against the back again. Through the silence, with her hands pressed together, she looked back up at Alastor from under her hat.
“So what’s the truth, Alastor…”
Alastor is silent for a moment, taking his arms away from his chest and pressing his hands against the edge of the table, pushing himself away like he was getting ready to leave. “I’ve told you it…”
Rosie cocked an eyebrow upwards. “Al…”
“I’ve given you the truth, Rosie. What more could you want?” Al said as he was about to stand up. He just wanted to get away and get out of this conversation. To never want to talk about it.
“I mean, Al…” Rosie said as she got to her feet, and she seemed so calm throughout the whole thing. Alastor took his hands away from the table, staying sitting down as Rosie stood there, opposite him with her hands clasped in front of her. “What really happened… you two didn’t date, fine. But what really happened?”
Alastor is silent for a moment before letting out a static laced groan, covering his face with his hand. He didn’t want to talk about the real story, wanting to push the memory to the back of his mind. “But this stays between us…” He warned her.
Rosie waved a hand beside her head. “Fine, fine. I get it.” She sat back down on her chair, leaning back and all of a sudden the smile was back on her face. She picked up her tea yet again, taking a sip with that same, deceiving smile. “Now, tell me the story…”
Alastor rubbed his hand down his face, letting out a sigh. He adjusted himself uncomfortably in his chair. “Lucifer and I… had some kind of lapse of judgement…”
Rosie tilted her head to the side with an eyebrow raised. “What?”
Alastor sighed yet again and gave her a roll of his eyes. “We got drunk after all the events that happened and before I knew it I woke up beside him in his bed, naked.”
Rosie went silent, staring at him with wide eyes upon the realisation of what the hell he meant. She let out a shrug and gave him a smile. “Wow… and here I thought you were nothing more than an ace in the hole.”
Alastor raised an eyebrow. “A what now?”
Rosie laughed, slamming her now empty mug down on the table, leaning back as she continued. It was like she had just been told the funniest joke in the world. Alastor didn’t see it that way though, keeping his ears pinned back and crossing his arms over his chest. He hated hearing this, and now getting a reminder of the night in question with Lucifer, even if it happened so long ago by now, and so much has happened since then.
And what was happening between him and the king of hell now is something no one would believe.
But once Rosie’s laughter decided to die down, she reached over and grabbed the teapot, filling her mug up for her second up of tea since Alastor got there. “So, that’s all that happened. The ace in the hole had a one night stand with the king of Hell…”
Alastor nods, crossing his arms once again, annoyed and completely done with thes conversation. As he was looking away from Rosie, ears pinned back yet again, Rosie cleared her throat.
“And nothing happened.”
When Rosie said that, it made Alastor’s ear flick slightly. He didn’t answer that, didn’t even look at her. He didn’t want to talk about this anymore as he brought himself to his feet. Rosie stared him down.
“Nothing happened, right, Al?”
Alastor paused when he turned around, and he glanced back over his shoulder, giving Rosie a glimpse of his smirk and the dark red glow in his eye. He turned his head away from Rosie, his ears relaxing and letting out a sigh.
“Something… did happen…”

“Something… did happen…”
“Lullaby! Duckling, you can’t chew on that!” Lucifer yelled out, prying the rubber duck from his daughter’s hands. She didn’t put up much of a fight, but once that duck was out of her hands, her bottom lip stuck out so far. The look caused a twang in Lucifer’s heart, and he turned his head away, not wanting to stare at her upset face anymore. He pushed himself onto the very tips of his toes, placing the duck on the highest shelf; out of reach of the little one.
“That could’ve been a disaster.” He let out a sigh, relaxing. “That duck breathes fire. It could’ve burned you, my little ducky-”
He paused when Lullaby let out a cry, still wanting something to chew on to sooth her painful gums. Lucifer let out a sigh, looking around for something a whole lot safer for her to chew on. He forgot how hard it was to deal with a teething toddler. At least last time it was Lilith who mostly dealt with Charlie.
This time, Lucifer was on his own.
The cries seem to dig into him, drilling into his ears. He hated to hear his little one cry, especially over something that he himself couldn’t fix. In the end, he reached into Lullaby’s ducky crib, pulling out the plush duck that let out a little jingle as it was being moved.
The sound caught Lullaby’s attention, staring at her father with wide eyes and tear streaked cheeks. She stared at the little plush as Lucifer walked over with it and it made those gentle little jingle sounds.
“How about… your good friend… Mr. Quackers?” Lucifer said as he crouched down in front of his daughter and then shook the plush some more and making the jingle sounds continue. Lullaby smiled and took it from her father, immediately cuddling her favourite ducky friend.
Lucifer smiled, sitting back and watching Lullaby shake the little ducky slightly so she can continue to hear the little jingle bells inside the ducky.
Sure, thirty years after he had Charlie, he didn’t think he would be sitting here with another daughter. And unlike Charlie, Lullaby was absolutely, definitely not planned.
But sometimes the best thing start unplanned. And Lucifer never thought he would get to be a dad again.
But here he was… and here she was.
If only Lucifer didn’t have to deal with this alone.
Sure, Charlie has been a big help, and many other people around the hotel have been a big help. But for the most part, he was doing this alone.
He stared at the little girl in front of him as she happily nuzzled the fluff of Mr. Quackers. Her blonde tipped with red deer ear flicked when she let out a little giggle, which seemed to make Lucifer melt for her all over again. Lullaby then pulled the duck away from her chest, staring at the little ducks face. She began to shake it around, hearing the little jingle bells as she babbled in her own baby language. Lucifer only laughed as it seemed she was having a whole conversation with Mr. Quackers. He then reached out, gently taking the duck out of her hand.
“How about, instead of babbling some nonsense, you say ‘dad’ huh?” He smiled and gently shuck the jingly duck around. “Say daddy- wait no don’t say that. Just say dad. Daaaaaaaad…”
Lullaby stared at the duck in Lucifer’s hand, then she let out a loud giggle, reaching out for the plushie with grabby hand.
“Come on, Lullaby. Say dad, then you can have the ducky.” He smiled, but Lullaby just stared at him with a confused kind of look on her face. And when Lucifer glanced up over the top of Lullaby’s head, he saw the door was wide open, and Charlie standing in the doorway.
She shook her head with a smile across her lips and then walked over. “Dad, you can’t force her to speak her first word.” Charlie said as she reached down to pick up her baby sister, holding her for a quick cuddle. Lullaby smiled and rested her in the crook of her older sister’s neck. If anyone knew anything about Lullaby, is that she loved hugs from her older sister.
“I’m not forcing her, Charlie.” Lucifer said as he stood up. “I’m merely giving her a gentle push.”
Charlie stared at him, raising an eyebrow as if to say ‘oh really.’ She reached out, carefully taking Mr. Quackers from her father and staring at the plushie herself. There was a thoughtful and familiar smile on her face, a look of remembrance. “Can’t believe Mr. Quackers was kept in good shape after all these years.”
“Yeah. I made sure he was saved in case… me and your mom ever had a second baby.” Lucifer smiled slightly. “Of course it never happened…”
Charlie chuckles as her baby sister reached out, slipping the duck out of her hand so she could cuddle the plushie herself. Charlie’s smile turned warm as she watched her sister curl up against her chest while clutching her plushie close.
“Well, it happened now…” Charlie smiled and stroked her little finger down the side of Lullaby’s face. The gentle touch made her ears twitch more. She then leaned down, nuzzling the top of her head. “And she’s so adorable.”
While Charlie was there cooing over her sister, Lucifer grabbed two rubber duckies from the pile and then he walked back over.
“That she is Charlie, would be even cuter if she could say ‘dada’...” Lucifer said as she held a rubber duck in front of Lullaby, squeezing it and making it squeak. The sound alone made the little one giggle.
“Dad…” Charlie smirked down at Lucifer, speaking in some warning tone as she raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, little Lullaby. Come on, say dad for your dad!” Lucifer spoke in some high pitch childish voice while waving the rubber duck around in front of her. Lullaby laughed at her father’s antics, while a second duck was held in front of her. “Come on little duckling, speak for your dad…”
Charlie snorted and covered her mouth. “Dad, you’re so silly.”
Lucifer laughed, leaning forward and kissing Lullaby on the top of her head. “Anything to make my little duckling laugh and smile. I’ll never get over the sight… or the sound.”
Charlie smiles, patting Lullaby on the top of his head. “Did you ever hear me laugh and smile like this?”
Lucifer stared for a moment, his smile fading slightly. “Not much, but this time, I want to see every smile and hear every laugh. I will treasure every one of them.”
Charlie smiled and leaned forward, pressing one quick kiss to the top of her baby sister’s head before she handed her back to her father. “That is so sweet, dad. But now, I have to get back to hotel duties. Alastor had to go to Cannibal Town and Vaggie and I have been in charge.”
At the mention of Alastor’s name, his smile faded slightly. He tried not to think too much about him, shaking his head. “Right… of course. Well, I have to put Lullaby down for her nap so maybe I’ll be down a little later to help out?”
Charlie chuckles slightly and shook her head. “Oh dad you don’t have to. I understand you have all your time taken up by Lullaby…”
Lucifer shakes his head. “Nonsense Charlie. I’m still your dad, and I still want to help you out.”
Charlie chuckled. “Alright but please, don’t stress yourself out too much dad. You already have so much to do-”
“Ah, ah. I will forever make time for my big girl.” Lucifer smiled and reached out, resting his hand on the side of her face. The two stared into each other’s eyes for a moment before Charlie pulled away.
“Alright, dad. If you say so.” She shrugged, a little surprised when Lucifer reached down to hold onto her hand, tightly.
“I love you, my big duckling.” Lucifer smiled up at her. “More than anything.”
Charlie kept smiling, walking backwards towards the door as her hand slipped away from Lucifer’s. Lucifer is left standing in the middle of the room with a sleepy Lullaby sitting his hip. When the door slammed shut, Lucifer let out a long sigh and then turned his attention back to his youngest girl, turning towards her crib. He turned on the little duck mobile and a gentle tune filled his room.
“Now, my little duckling, it’s time for someone to take a nap…”
The hotel seemed to be like it always was, bustling, mostly busy, and Charlie has thrown herself into the work of it. Perhaps she liked being busy these days after everything that had happened. While she was organising some things, she heard the door open behind her, making her jump slightly and glance over her shoulder.
She gasped and straightened her back. “Ah, Alastor, you’re back. How was everything with Rosie?”
Alastor let out a groan and rolled his eyes, crossing his arms, pretty much giving Charlie the exact message of how it went.
“Oh… that well.” Charlie walked over to him.
Alastor shook his head and moved away from Charlie before she could even try to comfort him. “I’m not talking about it, but let’s just say, I told Rosie the truth about ‘Radioapple’…” Alastor did the airquotes with his fingers, and that made Charlie confused.
“But… Radioapple doesn’t exist… mostly…” Charlie fell quiet when Alastor glared at him and there was a sound of a microphone screech around them.
“It may not exist, my dear… but there is a… result of that one night that happened to happen after last years events…” Alastor glared at Charlie, moving close to her while he was speaking and then pointing towards upstairs.
Charlie stared at him, trying to keep herself calm so she doesn’t allow her demon form to bleed through. “Alastor… that result up there is your daughter…”
Alastor glared, the screech seemed to turn into static, stepping backwards, away from Charlie. He hated hearing the fact that he had a daughter, it was just something that made it seem real. But he just wanted to shove that fact deep down and never hear anything about it.
But this isn’t something he can run away from.
He turned his back to Charlie, and eventually the static died down as he managed to keep himself calm. “Yes… she’s my daughter. And I made it clear to your father when he shoved the pregnancy test in front of me that I want nothing to do with her…”
Charlie glared for a moment, her demon form bubbling to the surface at the very mention of her sister. But she takes in one deep breath, keeping it deep down. “Fine... what has Rosie said…”
Alastor is silent for a moment, keeping his arms crossed and walking over to Husk’s bar. He leant against it for a moment, glaring at the space behind the bar. Husk wasn’t there at that moment, and god knows where he was. Alastor didn’t care about that at that moment, his mind being on other, slightly more important things than… where the hell is the barkeep?
He kept staring at the area behind the bar, his elbow now resting on it in which his hand was used to prop his head up, and he looked deep in thought, even with that smile stretched across his face. And with his back turned to Charlie, he brought in a deep breath.
“She knows about… Lullaby.” Alastor sighed, resting his forehead against his hand, almost laughing maniacally at the rest of everything. “She also wants me to clear up everything on my radio show… like she can tell me what I can and can’t do on my own show.” He said that last part while he slammed his fist against the bar and then came his maniacal laugh that echoed through the lobby of the room.
Charlie stayed standing behind him, at a few inches away while she watched him. She kept her mouth shut with her hands clasped in front of her. “What does she mean?”
Alastor went silent for a moment, not knowing if he wanted to clarify the rest of the story. “She wants me to go on my damn radio show and clear up those ‘radioapple’ rumours. That it was nothing but some stupid drunken one night stand, and some lapse of my judgement.” He glared at the bar, staring at the row of alcohol behind it. God, he would do anything fora small glass of whiskey right now. Anything to help him forget everything that has happened.
“Well, at least you’ll get the other sinners off our back. That’s all you’ve had over the past year is the fact that oh, you and Alastor were together-”
“I don’t want to be reminded of the fact that oh I fucked the king of hell!” Alastor interrupted Charlie and she pulled some kind of cringe look at the very mention of her friend having… relations… with her own father.
Through the long silence, Charlie let out one long sigh. “But it happened, and you can’t change that.”
Alastor glares at her from over his shoulder, where he kept his hand resting on the bar. “You think I don’t know that… Charlie?”
“Al, I’m just saying. It happened and now you have a responsibility-”
“I don’t want ANYTHING to do with that… child up there!” He yelled as he got to his feet and stood tall in front of Charlie, really getting into the fact that yeah, he was absolutely and definitely serious about it. “I don’t do children!”
“I understand that, Alastor.” Charlie didn’t know how she could keep herself so calm within this moment, but she kept taking a deep breath, moving closer to Alastor with her palms pressed together. “It’s just that… this isn’t something that’s going to just… go away the longer you ignore it…”
Alastor glares, his eyes glowing red for a moment. “All I want to do is address these… allegations that I’m in a relationship with your father and get all those other… wayward souls out there to shut the fuck up!” He turned his back to Charlie and he sat back down on a barstool, leaning over the bar. He was back at the position of leaning against his hand again, letting out some static laced groan.
Charlie let out a sigh, defeated. “Alright… I guess… image is everything.”
“Yes, my dear Charlie!” He looked at her over his shoulder yet again. “You’re catching on well.”
When he turned back around. Charlie turned away and she opened her mouth with the plan to give Alastor the next instructions for the rest of the night at the hotel.
But Alastor quickly spoke first. “Rosie also doesn’t want Hell to know I have a daughter. Which is completely fine by me.”
Charlie stared, and she wanted to fight him yet again, but she couldn’t. In her good manners, and just the way she is, she can’t force Alastor to do anything else. Everything was up to him now. She drew in another deep breath. “I need you to keep up your duties of the hotel. We have a lot of people staying here now and… I need you to just do your job.”
It almost sounded out of character for Charlie, but she didn’t want to hear anymore smug comments from the radio demon. As she walked away from him. Alastor gripped tight around his staff, his usual smile stretched wide as he continued to stare at the rather nicely organised bar. Perhaps his first job should be to find where the hell Husk had ended up to…
“Of course, my dear…”
