Work Text:
Being born blind has been the most difficult thing you have ever experienced in your life. You struggled to make friends in school. You were always bullied by other people pushing you into walls, pushing you down flights of stairs, throwing food at you during lunch break. Also, they sometimes tease you, saying that boys from across the playground were looking at me, knowing I couldn't see them back, they would guide me to the boys just to be rejected. You always got to the point of going home crying, wishing you had a normal life, wishing you could experience real nature through sight, not just through touch. You were home-schooled by twelve, your mom arranged for one teacher from the school to come to your home to teach you the basics maths, English, etc. It made you feel useless because of not experiencing everything the other people get to experience.

Fifteen years later, twenty-seven years old, you wanted to get yourself our there, try to socialise as you can, you went to a bar, that's where you met your best friend she is always nice to you, guides you to the right places, she bought you sunglasses as she told you it was a sunny day, she tucked your arm through hers so it looked like to normal people walking around, told you stories as well as guiding you, she made you laugh, she made you feel human and not just a blind freak.
One day, she took you to a café, it smelt like coffee along with sweet treats of cookies and muffins, she guided you to a table, she told you to say there, she came back with two coffee's. She continued to talk about all and everything about the life she could see but paused when a group of four guys came into the café, your best friend told you that four handsome men just walked in, heading over to the counter to fo orders, she kept telling you that one of the men keeps staring at one of us, maybe both, she decreetly turned your head and told you to smile, as you did your friend told you that one of them is walking over to us, you told her to not lie to you, this type of thing happened to you in school and you got bullied for it.
As she continued to tell you that the man was walking over to you both, you felt like you wanted to run, but that's when you heard the most beautiful voice in the world
"Hi, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful you are," he said. Your friend whispered the direction to look for the beautiful voice
"Thank you," you blushed. You heard a soft chuckle from him
"Would you girls be willing to join me and my friends?" He asked softly
Your friend instantly replied before you could come up with an excuse to leave, "we'd love to. We'll just grab our things and meet you guys over at your table. "
"Take you time, no rush," he left with a smile
Your best friend gently squeezed your shoulders, telling you that you both are going to join the handsome table as she called it since seeing them, guiding you up, she pulled you to the table, one of the handsome men pulled out a chair which she was guiding you to sit whispering that the handsome man wants you to sit with him. As you sit down, your friend still holding your hand, she introduced you both to the men. The one sitting next to your best friend is Benny, next to him is his big brother Will, who is nicknamed Ironhead, next to him was Santiago nicknamed Pope and next to Santiago, the man sitting next to you is Francisco but everyone calls him Frankie also nicknamed Fish.
Frankie starts a conversation with you asking where you are from? What do you do? What are your hobbies? You try to answer them as much as you can.
"Why do you have sunglasses on in here? The sun is not that bright at the moment, " Frankie asks. You are still being guided towards him
"I huh, I don't have beautiful eyes," you say nervously
"I will be the judge of that," he says, gently nudging you. He continued to ask, and it made you feel like you wanted to just stand up and walk out. Before you could do that, your best friend pipes up
"Huh Frankie, she can't see you," she said, giving your hand a squeeze to support you
"Is she like blind?" He asks. Your friend just nods
"Oh my, I am so so sorry, darlin. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way, " he said gently as he took my hand
"It's okay. I'd say you have nice eyes, but I can't see them, my friend said that you guys are handsome, i just wish I could see it for myself but I like your voice, " you said shyly
"Thank you for saying that cariño. That means sweetheart, by the way, " he said as he moved hand from yours and wrapped it around your shoulders, rubbing your other arm
The others made conversation with your friend, but as she was looking out for you too, she could see the shyness and awkwardness in your body language, without fully embarrassing you she wrote on a piece of paper and handed it to Frankie
'I told her you guys were all handsome, but she doesn't believe me, but she can notice by the detail through touch.'
Once he finished reading it, he nodded to your friend before asking if he could do something, nothing awkward, just an understanding. You nodded as you said, okay. He picked up both of your hands and placed them gently on his face as he said, "You can't see me, but maybe this will help you imagine what I look like."
You started to move your hands over his face, to his neck, and then back up to his hair. You can imagine everyone looking at you, thinking what the hell is she doing, but you didn't care right now, Frankie smiled as you continued to touch his face. He can't help but think about loving you, caring for you, protecting you
"You are indeed a handsome man, Frankie," you say, blushing
"Thank you, mi amor," he says, giving your hand a kiss

A few months later, after hanging out and becoming close. You and your best friend were in your bedroom going through your clothes wondering what wear, how much make-up to put on. Frankie had asked you out on a date, and you said yes.
Frankie was due to arrive any minute now. You were nervous because you didn't know where he was taking you. All he said was it would be a surprise, and you are willing to trust him. After ten minutes, you and your friend head towards the front door. She opens it for you
"Hey cariño you look so beautiful," he said while picking up one of your hands and bringing it to his face. With his other hand, he hands you a bouquet of peonies. "I don't know much about flowers, so I asked your friend who's next to you to help me in picking the right ones." He says nervously
You start to feel around them, the texture. You instantly knew they were peonies, "thank you, Frankie, they are pretty,"
"You're welcome, beautiful. Are you ready to go?" He asks
"Yes. But where are you taking me?" You ask shyly
"It's a special place, i can't really say, but it wasn't just me that planned this date. It was the guys and your best friend, so I'm hoping you like it." He says, kissing your forehead.
On the drive to where the date is placed, Frankie never let go of your hand every now and then, bringing it up to his mouth to kiss it. Once we arrived, he told you to hold still in your seat. He gets out of his truck, walks around to your side, and opens the door, undoing your seat belt and then gently guiding you out of his truck.
Once we get to the place of the date, he asks you to sit down and ask you do, you feel a soft blanket laying on top of what you can feel is grass.
"Your friend said you never got used to being outside and being around people, so I maybe we can just have a picnic, with music playing. Just us, nobody else, " he says respectfully, charmingly
"It's perfect, Frankie. Thank you, " you say as you reach up to touch his face
As you both are enjoying your date, you can feel his nervousness kicking in. He can feel your fingers on his lips. He really wants to kiss you, but he doesn't know if that will be an overstep. He should ask first.
"Cariño can I kiss you?" He asks
"I've never been kissed before," you say with sadness. "Nobody wanted to kiss me,"
"Well, I'd like your first time to be with me. If that's okay?" He says with one hand on your cheek
"Okay," is all you can say. He brings his lips to yours, and it's like a spark had shocked you, not in an uncomfortable way. In a loving way
After the kiss, without realising you take your glasses off to wipe a tear and Frankie, see your blindsighted eyes for the first time. They are the most beautiful eyes he's ever seen, and he kisses you again after a five minute kiss he leans back, still close enough, but enough to look at you close up.
"Beautiful, I love you so much. You make my heart burst into a million pieces in the best way possible." He says before laying you both down and looming up at the sunset sky. He brings you close that your head is on his chest, your arms bringing tucked around his body. You don't cover your eyes after that because no matter what people say. You have Frankie to love and to tell you you're beautiful every day.
