Straight A Checklist

Summary:

Oisin was a remarkable beer pong player who hadn't missed a shot until AFTER Adaine talked to him, which Fig ooh-ed at her for, the same way Adaine ooh-ed for Fig when she found out her and Ayda kissed in secret.

Fig was good at these sorts of things- which wasnt always good given her unsavory records with doctors and policemen, but unless she was deliberately trying to get under someones skin she was typically accurate. And now Adaine was posed with a question.

Should she have a crush on Oisin?

Or

Adaine is very good at thorough examination as a wizard, and with a handy checklist shes able to decide to have a crush on Oisin.

... no one's really told her thats not something you just DECIDE.

Notes:

Im just hard core projecting dfvsfzfxvbh.

I tagged this as both platonic and romantic because. Well. Data shows-

Work Text:

Adaine stared at Oisin a bit longer, after their conversation, squinting. She loved going to the Seacaster parties to be with her friends of course, but she had no problem tuning out the noise and the music to analyze this situation.

Luckily she had a system for this sort of thing. Adaine discovered in her high school journey that a lot of social games, and especially the ones that came with being a popular adventurer, could be mapped out and decoded like a rune.

Though she had to do some digging for her rules about crushes... they were older, from before Augfort.

In fact she remembered using them for the first time on a boy at Hudol named Elior. She felt so happy when he hit all the needed marks, and she could finally be like the other girls in her class, whispering and giggling... until she made the mistake of telling Aelwyn, who then told all her upperclassmen friends.

They used to have some sillier rules on them from her parents- "must be an elf", "has to be in all the honors classes", elitist bullshit like that, but picking through there were still some she agreed with.

1. A curious mind

Well first off he was a wizard, which was a good start, meaning they had relatively similar values as far as their education went. He was clearly intelligent and would make a good conversation partner.

2. Agreed upon to be attractive

He was attractive, she noticed after Ivy pointed it out. He was strong, having apparently worked out over the summer, and he was charming enough. He has some form of athletic prowess too, mixing his intelligence with his fine motor dexterity to win at beer pong.

Speaking of, third...

3. Plausible

As Fig already pointed out, he seemed distracted by her. He came to his decision much quicker then, to have a crush, possibly. Which meant there was a chance they might ACTUALLY go out together.

... logically that was a good thing, as she wouldnt want to waste her time with someone who wouldnt even be interested in her. But an emptiness in her heart struck her when she actually imagined them together. Which wasnt fair- he seemed like a genuinely nice person.

She felt this way too, when Biz Glitterdew was clearly hitting on her. Not only the utter revulsion for his gross personality, but also... some sort of fear, or anxiety about being with someone.

Adaine borrowed her brow, blinking down at the cup in her hand. Results were inconclusive on number 3.

... oh, but that was still two out of the three!

She hummed, taking a sip of her drink and smiling to herself. How delightful... its been a long time since shes had a crush, she'll have to brush up on how to act like it again... but she was still pleased at the results.

Conclusion: Adaine has a crush on Oisin.
