Work Text:

For some reason this was the first time Sasuke had seen Sakura’s scar. Granted they have mostly been traveling through the forest and never needed to take their clothes off until now, to keep warm during the night. This would be the first time they shared a bed and be in each other’s personal space.

Sasuke expected it to be… awkward but was surprised at how natural it felt. Like they had been together for years and perhaps they were in a way. Given that they were teammates for so long they were used to one another’s sleeping habits and being so close.

Still, they were kids back then and this was much different.

All that was put to side once he opened the door to their room with food and having witnessed Sakura take off his top revealing the scar. He narrowed his eyes at it, puzzled about when he’d gotten it.

“Oh, I thought you’d be out longer…” He chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his head as a nervous tick he’s been accustomed to. Perhaps he wanted to sneak into the bed before Sasuke got back to hide it.

“What happened?” Sasuke set the food by the nightstand and quickly knelt in front of him inspecting the wound. Sakura hissed when Sasuke’s hand fluttered across the scar with how sensitive the area was, although his face was a slightly shade of red considering how close Sasuke was and whereabouts he was kneeling.

“Don’t overreact, this is from years ago. From my fight with Sasori.”

Sasori?

Ah, yeah it was coming back now. He did recall Sakura mentioning it, hell even Naruto boasted about it too. How Sakura was able to beat the poison master Sasori.

Sakura merely rolled his eyes at the time insisting that it wasn’t like that and in the end, he suspected that Sasori had purposely allowed himself to be killed. Being a killer wasn’t exactly in Sakura’s nature. But coming up with an antidote and surviving from someone like him was still impressive in their eyes. Kankuro himself was the verge of death and if it hadn’t been for Sakura wouldn’t be here today.

“You never told me you received a scar from the fight.” He looked up at him and Sakura started fidgeting, looking nervous.

“It’s not exactly something I… want to bring up.”

Normally scars would fade overtime, however due to how deep the wound was it still left its own mark. At first Sakura hadn’t minded the scar. It was something he wore with pride, at how far he’d come and was able to stand by his two teammates. Even so, over the years, his insecurity kicked in when his body changed and matured, the one thing that stood out was this mark and how unsightly it looked in comparison to the rest of him.

Was he being shallow? He wasn’t sure, he always did grow up with insecurities on his looks but that was due to the bullying he faced from other kids. Yet no one had ever made him feel shame for this.

Only himself and that would be something he had to work on.

“Not to mention, I almost died from that fight. I feel lucky that Chiyo was there to guide me.”

“You almost died?”

“Yes.”

“Before Orochimaru’s hideout?”

“I guess?” Sasuke’s gaze went back to the scar. Somehow the thought had never occurred that Sakura or hell even Naruto and Kakashi could have died when he left the village. He knew his head was focused on revenge but what would have happened after everything.

If he had lost Sakura due to the Akatsuki, any mission and never got to reunite with him again.

How would he react? In what way would he have grieved?

“I see.” Unspoken words were left unsaid, still was there any point on dwelling on the past.

They were here now, together and travelling with one another.

Sasuke looked up at Sakura to which he notices the light blush on his face. He hadn’t thought at how intimate this could have looked from another perspective and that’s when an idea struck him and a smirk formed on his face.

He leaned his face forward closer planting soft kisses on the area.

“Oi! What are you-” Sakura’s breath hitched when Sasuke harshly sucked the skin, nipping the area from time to time. He followed where the scar was grazed and soothed the new fresh hickies with his tongue.

“Ah! Sasuke! Stop- it’s… sensitive. Ah-”

“Hmm? Is that so?” Sasuke removed his mouth from his skin and Sakura blushed at the trail of saliva linking them. Wiping his mouth with his sleeve Sasuke stood up smirking and leaned closer towards his ear.

“I think it suits you.”

“Hmm?” His mind was clouded with how hotly and husky Sasuke spoke. The area still tingling from what transpired before.

“Ah, are you hungry? I found a stall that did your favourite.” As Sasuke turned around to set the food like nothing happened Sakura casually sat/fell onto the bed completely dazed by what transpired.

Why did he always have to be a tease?
