Chapter Text

They finally pulled up to the house, after a half trip almost hitting trees and definitely hitting every pothole. Harry let out a sigh of relief as he unbuckled and exited the vehicle, wondering who the hell taught Teddy to drive like a maniac. To the left of the car he could see Draco slinking out trying to look less sick then he feels, which wasn’t too far off from what he was feeling. “Potter, I thought you taught Theodore to drive? What was that high speed hell he just put me through?” The blond twat sneered, using the opened car door to hold himself up as he tried not to puke.

Harry pondered for a second, shocked that he couldn’t remember that, “Did I?”. The silent, responding looks from both of them told him a story he wasn’t let in on, one of guilt from Teddy and pity from the old ferret. Harry sighed and grabbed his trunk from the car, and ignored the looks, “Stop looking at me like that, it just slipped my mind!”. He stomped to the door of their new shared house, but as he tried to open it, it wouldn’t budge.

Harry turned around with a huff and saw the other two having a hushed discussion, most definitely about him. Teddy looked grief stricken, and the older looking blond was frustrated. Harry had to turn away, and look at his new surroundings to focus himself and not get angry at his new circumstances, not that he remembered what they were. The anger faded a little as he looked around the clearing the house was centered in, Malfoy had truly outdone himself (even if Harry would never tell him that). The old pine trees were towering and the gloomy atmosphere really made a Brit feel right at home.

The small rustling in the bushes at the edge of the clearing that took Harry’s attention. He put his trunk in his pocket after shrinking it further and slowly wandered over to the edge to investigate the noise but just as he was about to reach it, Malfoy called from behind him, “Potter! Let’s head inside and settle down” His voice snapped him out of the trance and Harry hesitated before walking back to the house. Malfoy was weirdly nice as an old man, it makes Harry wonder what’s missing from his mind. As he stepped onto the wrap around porch Harry looked into the now unlocked and open front door. The wooden flooring was a bright birch while the walls were a soft grey. The furniture Harry was told he helped pick out looked comfortable and made the house look like a place he’d want to live, the lack of red and gold surprised him, not because he actually liked the colors but because Malfoy hated them and it would have been funny to see him drown in the colors. “Have you picked bedrooms yet?” Harry’s voice seemed to break what silent trance Malfoy was in while Harry was looking at the house, and he shook his head “ No, you have first pick. All the bedrooms have an attached bath and walk-in, So choose whichever one you want,” Any kind of teasing fun Harry could have done in the moment died with Malfoy’s tired and defeated tone.

Seeing an opportunity to leave the uncomfortable situation Harry nodded and quickly headed up the stairs to see each room. Just as the blonde said, each room had an attached bath and walk in, but Harry felt a pull to the farthest room, which as he stepped in, he could see had a built-in bookshelves and a bay window. The king sized bed was on a platform against the wall and overlooking the window. The color scheme was filled with deep blues, and a dash of bronze and silver. small pots filled with plants littered the shelves and other various surfaces. It seems despite what Malfoy said, the rooms had been chosen beforehand, and the choosing of this one felt like it was just another test of who he was.

Harry throws his shrunken case out onto the bed and waved his wand at it to bring it back to proper size, and with that, he began to unpack what he had stowed away before the accident, not that he knew what the accident was. Both Malfoy and Teddy have been hiding what had happened to him besides the bare minimum. With a sigh, Harry stuffs the last of his clothes in is dresser and stows the now empty case in the closet.

He lay down on the bed, messing up the sheets and spreads his arms out above him. He thinks back to everything that had lead up to him living with his apparent godson and Malfoy, who he should start calling Draco at least considering the fact that he was his guardian now. “… What the hell is my luck?”
