Work Text:
Yoongi was rather excited to move out the tiny apartment he had been sharing with Jimin for almost six years.
Both boys started to live together after Jimin got into University and now that both of them were out they wanted to start fresh in another place as graduated people.
Yoongi had a solid job as a songwriter for the last two years. With the money from his sold lyrics to rather famous people and what they got for their apartment, they were able to buy a nice house.
Maybe Yoongi asked a bit too much for their apartment but no one needs to know that. No one apart from Jimin.
("Yoongi-hyung don't you think we're asking too much money for this tiny ugly apartment?" "I think it's worth all of that and I think I can make some freshman believe it is worth all of that and that's the important thing here.")
Disregarding all of Jimin's complaints, everything went smoothly and Yoongi managed to sell their apartment for the amount he wanted and buy the house.
It was located in a nice neighborhood and looked like one of those neighborhoods where everyone knew each other. That meant that, if everything went as Yoongi wishes, they would be the mysterious neighbors because Yoongi is not very fond of human interaction.
Maybe they would all know Jimin because he's a social butterfly. Yoongi was okay with being the mysterious partner of Park Jimin.
During all their University years that's exactly how Yoongi was seen by all of Jimin's friends. Seokjin and Namjoon thought Yoongi was Jimin's imagination for a solid two years, until Jimin forced his boyfriend to meet his friends so they would stop calling him crazy.
Seokjin almost had a heart attack once he saw Yoongi. I can't believe he is real! I can't believe he is real! he screamed over and over again as he poked Yoongi's arms.
It took all his self-restrain and the fact that Jimin was looking at him with his keep calm face, for Yoongi to contain himself against sending a death glare towards Seokjin for touching him.
No one ever understood how in hell Jimin managed to become Yoongi's boyfriend considering the older boy avoided people at all costs.
They met in school and Yoongi was fine being the reclusive person he was, but as soon as Jimin got into the school he made his life mission to become close to that odd boy.
Jimin would try to talk with Yoongi every day and for three months he just received death glares from the boy. But that kid was insisting as no one else could and after a long time and much effort, he managed to hear Yoongi's voice.
Of course it wasn't that nice because Yoongi practically screamed. "Fuck off before I kick your face."
But that wasn't enough to stop Park Jimin. He was unstoppable. So after five more times of Yoongi rudely talking to him, Jimin managed to have a talk with him.
Yoongi found out that apart from the annoying side, Jimin was actually funny and rather adorable.
After that they became inseparable. Yoongi would not let Jimin go anywhere without him and as Jimin didn't really have any other friends - due to his personal life mission of befriending Yoongi - he never minded that.
Once Yoongi got into University he continued to recluse himself from everyone and got insanely satisfied when Jimin got into the same University.
When Yoongi got into Uni and Jimin was still in high school things got a bit difficult between the two. Yoongi was missing the younger boy more than he wanted to admit and as Jimin got closer to people in his class he realized that what he felt for Yoongi was different.
They wouldn't see each other regularly and once they met both boys could feel that something was different. It took them a long time to realize that they were in love with each other.
After Jimin received the admission letter from University he ran to Yoongi's house to tell him the news and as a response to the younger's happiness Yoongi said they needed to get an apartment for them near the campus. Yoongi was tired of living far from there and as Jimin got into the same University he just needed the boy to never leave his side again.
Jimin instantly agreed with that and by the heat of the moment he smacked Yoongi's lips with his own. Yoongi pushed him away with a terrified expression and in that moment Jimin though he had fucked up, but not even a second later Yoongi pushed Jimin close to him and kissed the life out of him.
So once they moved together to their apartment, they did as boyfriends and not best friends.
Yoongi didn't have any friends at University because they were too annoying to become his friends. But Jimin befriended everyone he could.
He had tons and tons of friends but his best friends were Seokjin and Namjoon and after meeting them Yoongi kinda became friends with them as well because maybe Jimin was right and they weren't that annoying.
The two of them actually helped Yoongi pack up their stuff while Jimin was out trying to convince his friend Hoseok to let them use his dad's truck for the moving.
Hoseok claimed he needed at least some sort of payment for this and Jimin was trying to pay with a free redesign of Hoseok's dad moving trucks company logo.
Why they need to use a truck full of furniture as their logo and what that line underneath it supposed to mean? The road? It's an atrocity. Jimin would always say. According to him he would be doing Hoseok and his family a favor by redesigning that logo.
Yoongi needed to pay a few bucks to Hoseok for the truck, but they received a huge discount.
Jimin felt betrayed as Hoseok denied his offer for the logo redesign but Yoongi reminded him that Hoseok was in Jimin's class, what meant he also was a graduated designer now who could redesign his dad's logo. Jimin thinks his logos designs are better than Hoseok's but Yoongi was done discussing with him.
They managed to finish the moving before night time and after they were rather settled Seokjin and Namjoon left with Hoseok.
"Fucking finally." Yoongi grumbled as he threw himself on the recent bought black couch placed nicely on their new living room. "They are nice and all but I can't deal with people for long. It's exhausting."
Jimin laughed and placed himself near Yoongi, cuddling into his side. "I'm glad you don't find me exhausting."
"Oh but I do Jiminie, I just love you too much to let you go. Otherwise you'd be inside Hoseok's truck right now." He replied.
"Glad to know that." Jimin was getting far too comfortable next to Yoongi and that meant he would probably fall asleep in some minutes.
Yoongi wouldn't have minded that, in fact he preferred ending up sleeping cuddled with Jimin in the couch than having to set up the bed upstairs. He forgot in which of their several unpacked boxes was their sheets.
But of course the bell had to ring just by the time he and Jimin were almost drifting away.
Yoongi made an annoyed sound and just placed himself closer to Jimin.
"I'll get it." Jimin said letting go of Yoongi's arm and walking to the front door, receiving a complaint from Yoongi for leaving him there.
Jimin was greeted by a blinding box smile once he opened the door. It took him two seconds too late to notice that the boy with the blinding smile wasn't alone.
There were two guys in his doorstep looking far too happy for a Wednesday afternoon. Nobody really likes Wednesday, not that much at least.
"Hello. Welcome to the neighborhood!" The box smile guy greeted happily and Jimin was glad he was the one to answer the door. Yoongi would have closed the door on the dudes face by being annoyed with their happiness.
"Hey. Thank you." Jimin replied.
"Sorry for bothering, we noticed the truck leaving and thought about paying a visit to welcome you here." The guy said.
"We would come by tomorrow but Tae insisted we needed to be fast to give you our gift." The other boy said.
"Wait, what gift?" Jimin asked completely confused. They literally just got there how could these two dudes have bought them a gift?
"This one," Box smile said handing Jimin a package. "We have extra ones for the new arrivals."
Still confused, Jimin opened the package and saw some sort of bag inside. He read what was written on the package and apparently it was a seagull proof refuse bag. What even is this?
"There are loads of seagulls around here." One of the guys said.
"Right…" Jimin was feeling weird under the guys gaze and he was far too tired for properly human interaction today. "Thanks."
"You're welcome. I'm Taehyung and this is my partner Jeongguk." Box smile said.
"Nice to meet you both. I'm Jimin, my boyfriend is too tired to move now but his name is Yoongi."
"Lovely." Taehyung beamed. "We live in the house across the street."
"Cool." Jimin replied wishing they would just leave so he could sleep.
"We will leave you two now, you guys must be tired." Jeongguk held Taehyung's hand and took a step back, as a way of letting his partner know that they should leave.
Jimin just nodded.
"You can come over if you guys need anything." Taehyung offered. "See ya."
"Bye."
Jimin faced the two of them walk away to their house. They seemed nice.
When Jimin walked back to the living room he saw Yoongi sprawled on the couch looking so tired Jimin wanted nothing more than cuddle him for a whole month.
"Who dared to interrupt our exhaustion and what the fuck are you holding?" Yoongi asked making grabby hands towards Jimin, letting his boyfriend know all he wanted was for him to lay down on the couch with him.
"Two neighbors that apparently live across the street and gave us this seagull proof refuse bag." Jimin explained.
"Seagull proof refuse bag?"
"Yep." Jimin placed the bag on top of a box and threw himself on top of his boyfriend. "Apparently they are actual things."
"Weird." Yoongi held Jimin close to him and tried to get himself comfortable under his boyfriend's heavy body.
"I know right, but they said there are loads of seagulls here." Jimin placed his head on Yoongi's chest and was ready to fall asleep.
"Who would have thought."
-
Maybe sleeping on the couch wasn't the smartest idea Yoongi ever had; his back was killing him now and making him feel like an old man.
He left the house early to work leaving Jimin to enjoy his recent state as a University graduated but unemployed man.
Jimin decided to be a sweetheart and try to get their house in its tracks, so he spent half the morning cursing himself for not tagging the boxes properly because now he had boxes full of kitchen supplies on his bedroom so that meant he needed to go downstairs holding as many plates as he could without breaking it because the boxes were far too heavy to be carried downstairs.
He managed to organize the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedroom by lunch time and got sad as he reminded that Yoongi wouldn't be able to have lunch at home because he had some stupid reunion with some singer at lunch.
Because of that Jimin was cursed to eat by himself in the recent organized kitchen.
After lunch Jimin proceeded to organize the house and it didn't took him long to get the living room organized. It wasn't like he and Yoongi had a lot of stuff. They had only what was extremely necessary to survive like couch, dinner table, TV and video games.
Jimin placed a few unpacked boxes on the corridor by the back door and decided to take a look at their front yard. It definitely needed some care, the flowers looked like they needed some water and he probably should cut out the weeds.
Unfortunately they didn't have any garden tools so Jimin had to be creative with his gardening.
Just as he was watering plants by filling a cup and walking outside to drop its content on the flowers he spotted Taehyung walking to him.
"Hey neighbor."
It was pointless now to pretend he wasn't watering flowers with a glass cup so Jimin simply greeted the boy back.
Taehyung had a box with him. "I arrived home by the time you were bringing a cup to water your plants so I assumed you don't have any garden tools."
"You got me." Jimin replied embarrassed. "We used to live in an apartment."
"So I decided to lend you some." The smiley boy offered Jimin his box.
"You really don't need to-"
"I'm not using it now and it's kinda odd to see you watering plants with cups." Taehyung interrupted.
Jimin accepted the offer and opened the box. There were all kinds of garden tools Jimin never knew that existed, but he spotted a garden hose and that would definitely help his current situation.
"Thank you."
"Not for that." The boy gave Jimin one of his blinding smiles. "I also wanted to invite you and your boyfriend around for Friday night drinks so you guys can meet the other people on the lane."
Yoongi wouldn't like that but Jimin couldn't deny such invitation. "Of course we will come, thanks for inviting us."
"No worries. Jeonggukie is always tired from Uni on Friday so we like to do something very chill so you don't have to worry about it being a party."
After that Taehyung just walked back to his place leaving Yoongi standing on his front yard with a box full of garden tools on his hands.
-
"I can't believe you agreed with this shit Jimin. I hate you." A very grumpy Yoongi said as he tightened his belt in front of their bedroom mirror.
Jimin came from the bathroom with a toothbrush on his mouth and some foam, threatening to drip on the floor, on his chin. He mumbled something that Yoongi wasn't able to decipher.
"Spit it, then talk, you moron."
The younger boy walked back inside the bathroom and screamed from there. "I said that you love me."
"Not in this right moment." Yoongi walked to the bathroom door and leaned on the frame. "Why you had to agree with that? You know I hate human interaction."
"People need to interact with others Yoongi." Jimin was brushing his hair for probably the tenth time that day and Yoongi couldn't understand why he was so fixated with doing that. His hair looked flawless no matter what he did, it was sort of infuriating. "Besides, Mr. and Mr. Nice seem, well, nice."
"Talking about them, are they like... married?"
"Don't know. Taehyung called Jeongguk his partner. I think is free for interpretation." Jimin replied.
Yoongi got out of Jimin's way as the younger walked out of the bathroom in order to search for his jacket.
"They seem younger than us. I mean, Taehyung told you Jeongguk comes home tired from Uni so he for sure is younger." Yoongi watched in amusement as Jimin searched for his jacket that Yoongi was holding.
Jimin took his eyes off the wardrobe to look at Yoongi as he replied but froze as he caught sight of his jacket on his boyfriend's hand.
The older boy just smiled at Jimin while he walked to Yoongi with a frown. "You're such a bitch; you could have told me you picked it up for me." He picked his jacket from Yoongi's hands.
Yoongi gave him the shoulders. It was far too late to change who he is now. He is and forever will be a bitch.
"Why do you care so much about their relationship state anyways?" Jimin asked.
"It's just that.... I don't know. They seem so young to be married and have a house of their own."
Jimin was finally ready. He stood still in front of his boyfriend. "Maybe they won it. Maybe Taehyung is a young millionaire. Maybe they are married for two days or two years or maybe they just want to be. Stop watching over other people's lives, babe."
Yoongi reached his hands to Jimin's neck. "But minding others business is my favorite hobby Jiminie."
The younger boy scoffed. "You need a new hobby then."
"I'm just curious and kinda jealous."
"Jealous? You want to get married to me Yoongi?" Jimin wiggled his eyebrows.
"Shut up." Yoongi grumbled meaning to let go of his grip on his boyfriend's neck but Jimin placed his hands on the older boy's hips, locking him close.
"Then you don't want to marry me. I gotta say that makes me kinda sad, hyung." Jimin said making Yoongi groan internally.
The older boy was going to reply but decided to just kiss Jimin instead.
It was quite annoying how to this day every time they kissed Yoongi would still lose his breath and feel disgustingly warm inside. Damn Park Jimin and his soft lips.
"You already know the answer to that, sunshine." Yoongi said as he managed to get out of Jimin's grip and started to walk downstairs.
Jimin stood on their bedroom for a while, smiling to himself.
In some random afternoon when Jimin was cuddling Yoongi and the older boy thought he was asleep, Jimin heard him say that someday he wanted to get married to Jimin because he couldn't see his future without him.
Jimin had practically jumped on top of Yoongi telling him over and over that he accepted his proposal.
That day Yoongi looked so red Jimin thought he was boiling from inside and would soon explode. After that Jimin spent a week calling Yoongi his fiancé until Yoongi got annoyed and told him that yes he wanted to marry him but Jimin needed to graduate and get a job first, so that made Jimin shut up about the fiancé shit and focus on his studies.
It feel incredibly nice and comforting to know that someday in the future Jimin would be able to call Min Yoongi his husband.
The Friday night drinks were nice.
Taehyung and Jeongguk were unbelievably nice still and that was making Yoongi feel bad for being a bitch and Jimin to feel sort of threatened because he was always the nicest person around.
Well he was always with Yoongi so that made him always being the nicest person around easier, but even if Yoongi is a bit of a bitch on the outside he is actually an adorable fluff ball inside.
Right when they arrived, Taehyung made sure to introduce both boys to the rest of their neighbors. Yoongi got too overwhelmed by the presence of so many human beings so he couldn't recall the name of anyone around.
Jimin engaged in a conversation with some old lady and her husband for quite a while and Yoongi used this time to sneak closer to the table with the snacks.
He ate a lot of stuff but got interrupted by a happy Jeongguk who introduced Yoongi to some girl and her girlfriend. Apparently they were from Jeongguk's University and also lived on the street.
Isn't the world a small place? One of them said and Yoongi begged to differ but he did't say anything out of politeness.
It took Jimin long enough to notice his boyfriend suffering from the conversation he was trapped into, but once Jimin caught sight of him and Yoongi just gave him his save me look, he quickly walked there and filled up Yoongi's role on the conversation.
Jeongguk left no longer after to cling at Taehyung's side and Yoongi was disgusted by how adorable they were together.
While Jimin was talking to the girls, Yoongi simply stared at Mr. and Mr. Nice and watched in awe their interactions with others.
If Jimin was a social butterfly then those two were like dragons or something. Taehyung kept a conversation with anyone that crossed his path and Jeongguk followed his steps with ease.
Jeongguk helped the elderly couple to serve themselves some food and at the end of the gathering - or whatever that was called as it wasn't a party - Taehyung drove them home even though their house was just two houses down, because it was late and cold.
Taehyung kept offering people to take some leftovers with them and if they denied he would quickly gift them with some candy or some flowers.
Yoongi was amazed by how Jeongguk - who for sure wasn't an almost graduated student because that kid was a fetus and Yoongi knew it - was incredibly polite with everyone and how much he cared about everyone.
After watching those two Yoongi was positive they were either married or so fucking close they looked like they were married, and even if they looked so young Yoongi agreed so much with the fact they were acting like a married couple that if they weren't married already Yoongi would offer himself to be their best man and would force Jimin to take some online curse or whatever to be able to marry them.
By the end of the night Yoongi was tempted to offer to freaking clean their house after the gathering or like buy them a new one because he couldn't stand their niceness.
Jimin seemed equally shaken by their acts because when Taehyung offered Jimin some flowers to take home, he almost cried.
The younger boy told Taehyung that he would try to plant them on their front yard and that was Taehyung's cue to offer to cut the hedge of their yard with his electric hedge trimmer thing because he knew Jimin and Yoongi did't have any garden tools.
When Yoongi was about to deny the offer because that was too much, Jeongguk came from nowhere and not only agreed with Taehyung but added that they could lend them a ladder for the job if they didn't have one and all they needed to do was hold the ladder.
So that night Yoongi left Mr. and Mr. Sunshine and Rainbows house with a headache and an odd feeling on his stomach while Jimin left the place holding a bunch of Sweetpea flowers.
Them both held above their heads the promise that their hedge would get cut by their nice neighbors and none of them slept well that night because fuck how could them be so overwhelming nice, that kind of behavior should be illegal. It’s disrespectful to normal-not-that-nice-people.
-
Yoongi walked downstairs on the Sunday morning in search for his boyfriend who wasn't in bed when he woke up.
He heard some mumbling coming from the kitchen and started to wonder for how long Jimin had been awake.
It was Sunday for fucks sake, Yoongi just wanted to cuddle his sunshine until they were too starving to remain in bed but of course Jimin decided to be an early bird that day.
The day before they watched their neighbors trim their hedge for them and in the end none of them needed to hold the ladder because while Jeongguk trimmed it, Taehyung held the damn ladder. Such showoffs.
After the job was done Jimin offered them some lemonade out of pure and raw desperation of being nice and thankfully they accepted. Well of course they would accept it; they wouldn't be rude to deny it.
Once they finished the drink they said they needed to rush over to Taehyung's parents house for some family thing but before they left Jeongguk offered Yoongi to keep their ladder a little longer because he noticed how the light bulb on the kitchen wasn't working so they could use it to change it.
Jimin screamed on his pillow that night for a good ten minutes, he was going crazy and Yoongi needed to prepare some tea for him so he would calm down.
When Yoongi walked closer to the kitchen he was able to heard Jimin’s mumble loud and clear.
"I'm unsettled and now I have to enter into an arms race of niceness and I am already so behind. Oh God!" Jimin exclaimed as he walked around in the kitchen, picking up tons of supplies for whatever he was doing.
"Jiminie what are you doing?" Yoongi asked as he walked inside the kitchen and sat on the counter. Apparently a cup of tea and a good night of sleep wasn't enough to calm Jimin down.
"I am going to bake our angel of neighbors a lemon drizzle cake, that's what I'm doing." He said as he opened the drawer next to him to pick even more stuff.
"Honey, you don't need to bake them anything."
Jimin stopped his steps to stare at his boyfriend. "Of course I need to Yoongi! I saw their garden up close in bright day light when I went there this morning to return their ladder and you know what type of flowers they have?"
Yoongi just shook his shoulders.
"Sweetpea flowers, hyung!" Jimin exclaimed looking like a mad man. "The same type Taehyung gave to us. He took them off his own garden to give it to us. I need to do something."
"Jimin come here."
"I can't! Their niceness is consuming me and I must do something-"
"For the love of God Park Jimin, come over here." Yoongi interrupted.
Jimin took a breath and left his kitchen tools on the counter, he walked towards his boyfriend and Yoongi got up once Jimin was close enough.
Yoongi held both of Jimin's hands and squeezed them. "It is eleven am babe, what time did you wake up?"
"About eight I think." Jimin shrugged.
"You're far too stressed; you need to calm the fuck down. This isn't a competition."
Jimin placed his forehead on Yoongi's shoulder and sighed. "It's not a competition because I'm clearly the ultimate loser already."
Yoongi held his boyfriend close to him. "You're the sunshine in human form Jiminie; you don't need to prove to anyone that you're a nice person."
"I know I don't need to prove anything but I want to be nice to them." He said walking off Yoongi's arms.
"Okay okay, but before you bake this freaking lemon drizzle cake let's get breakfast." Yoongi said as he heard his stomach growling.
"Okay." Jimin sounded defeated and Yoongi wanted to punch the nice neighbors face for making his boyfriend feel like that.
After they ate their breakfast, that consisted only of some toast and milk because if Jimin didn't finish that cake soon enough he would combust, Yoongi tried his best to help his boyfriend on the baking.
Yoongi thinks he was being useless the whole time because he can't bake for shit, but Jimin seemed to appreciate him trying so that was good enough.
It didn't took long for Jimin to finish his baking so who knows if Yoongi actually managed to help with something in the end.
"This cake looks so nice. I can't believe I can't eat it because Mr. and Mr. Nice must receive an offering." Yoongi grumbled staring at the cake on the counter with a frown.
"It's not an offering Yoongi. It's a way of saying thank you for being so overwhelming nice you pieces of shit." Jimin said as he picked the cake to make the delivery.
"Oooh they made you swear." Yoongi pointed out. Jimin rarely swears because he is just an actual ray of sunshine and actual rays of sunshine don't swear.
"Shut up, hyung." He replied with an unamused expression.
With that Jimin left their house to deliver his offering to the neighbors, leaving Yoongi behind because no way in hell the older boy was getting into that house again, he would drown in their niceness and never be seen again.
The events afterwards made Jimin even more stressed than he could've anticipated.
Jimin gave them the lemon drizzle and got an invitation to have a slice and coffee with them as apparently it was their coffee time.
Taehyung's coffee was so underwhelming delicious Jimin felt offended by it. Once they finished eating Jeongguk packed some pieces of the cake for Jimin to take home for Yoongi.
The boy tried to insist that five pieces were too much but that only lead Jeongguk to realize that he needed to pack even pieces so Jimin and Yoongi would eat the same amount at home, so he packed one more.
He was so rudely nice Jimin almost punched him in the face.
Taehyung then invited him to a tour of their house, as that wasn't exactly an option on that Friday night gathering because how could Mr. Nice and his partner leave their guests alone at their living room.
So Jimin saw the whole house and then Jeongguk let him hold their puppy and Jimin swears he was about to drown himself on his own tears.
As Jimin was about to leave Taehyung reminded himself that none of them had cleaned the hedge clippings out of the rush they were to go to Taehyung's parents. So after Jimin stupidly told them how the clippings were still there Taehyung offered to help him bag them up.
So the afternoon ended with Taehyung and Jeongguk helping Jimin to bag up the hedge clippings.
Jimin finally entered his house and found his boyfriend sprawled on their bed watching Scream on the TV.
Yoongi was taken away by Jimin's defeated face so he rapidly pressed pause on his show.
"What took you so long? I was almost sending a rescuing team after you."
The younger boy held the package he was holding in front of him for his boyfriend to see. "They gave us some pieces of the lemon drizzle cake and they came around to help me bag up the hedge clippings these man are niceness pro and I cannot win."
Jimin's voice was so full of pain and his pout was so big that Yoongi left the bed in a jump to give him a tight hug.
"It's okay baby, it’s okay."
That night their dinner was three pieces of lemon drizzle each because they didn't deserve a proper meal for not being nice enough.
-
Yoongi arrived home on Monday night and was greeted by a very nervous looking Jimin.
"Babe are you okay?" He asked placing his backpack on the ground and walking closer to his boyfriend.
"No I'm not. Misters Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice are going to be the death of me." Jimin replied getting up from the couch and walking to the kitchen.
Yoongi followed him. "You mean Taehyung and Jeongguk?"
"Yeah! Who else?" Jimin threw his hands on the air. "We had an hour long power cut on the street today and in that time Jeongguk came around with matches and candles just in case we didn't have any."
"Oh God, really?" Yoongi was feeling like the ultimate bitch these days because Taehyung and Jeongguk were suffocating him with their niceness and Yoongi couldn't handle face the reality that he would never do any of that. He just doesn't like people enough to care like that for them.
"Yes! It was barely dark Yoongi. I could see perfectly fine without candles and for a matter of fact we actually had candles here." He said opening a drawer and showing his boyfriend the candles they had.
"Jiminie you need to calm down."
Jimin was too far too gone to calm down now. "Bastards," He grumbled under his breath. "I'm going to have to host a dinner party aren't I?"
Yoongi just faced him with wide eyes.
"I'm sorry love but I am hosting a dinner party and it will be the bestest dinner party to ever dinner party." Jimin said.
"First of all bestest is not a word," Jimin just frowned at that and showed his boyfriend his tongue. "Second of all I can't believe you'll organize a party at our house and make me interact with people."
"You shouldn't be so grossed out by people, mind I remind you that you're one?"
"Fuck off Jimin. I can't handle a dinner party." Yoongi stated with a more serious tone.
With that Jimin made himself walk closer to his boyfriend so he could push Yoongi's hair back affectionately and press their foreheads together. "Listen to me Min Yoongi, I won't allow anyone to make you uncomfortable. We will just sit at the table and eat a delicious meal I'll prepare then they will be gone and we will cuddle upstairs okay?"
"But Jiminie-"
"Just do this for me and I swear I'll stop trying too hard because of them. I just need to do something to feel better otherwise their niceness will consume me and I will drop dead on the floor." He interrupted looking right into Yoongi's beautiful eyes.
Yoongi sighed heavily. "Okay. I'll do it for you, only because I'm so godamn whipped for you Park Jimin you shitfuck."
Jimin smiled widely and pecked his boyfriend's lips. "You're the best. I love you."
"I know."
-
The day of the dinner had arrived and Yoongi just wasn't more nervous than Jimin because the younger boy was on the verge of tears out of nervousness.
Yoongi put back his own anxious state for the sake of his boyfriend and helped him get everything settled.
The good thing about all this mess was that Jimin agreed that the only ones they needed to invite were Mr. and Mr. Nice.
The table was set for the four of them and Jimin even bought new cups for the occasion - maybe because they didn't actually owned any real cups because all the cups they had were because they bought those glass packages of Nutella that when cleaned up were perfect to be used as cups but that's a secret that Misters Niceness don't need to know.
Jimin cooked pasta, with some type of sauce Yoongi didn't know how to pronounce, because he wanted to make the dinner different from all their everyday Korean meals. He even bought a glass of wine and Yoongi kissed him silly for that because yes alcohol!
None of the two were big on drinking alcoholic beverages but Yoongi sure appreciated one when he wanted to keep his nerves down.
The dinner started great, much to Yoongi’s surprise.
Taehyung and Jeongguk did arrived there exactly on time wearing clothes that were far too good for only a dinner across the street, but Jimin just didn’t put on his tux because Yoongi said he would dump his ass if he did that, so they were even.
Jeongguk spent half of the dinner praising Jimin’s food and talking about how he wished he could cook like that, but apparently Taehyung is the one who cooks of the two.
Trying to be nice, Yoongi engaged on a conversation with Jeongguk about how he couldn’t cook even an egg. It was surprising how long that conversation lasted; Jeongguk knew exactly how to deal with Yoongi and how to make the older boy talk.
Even Jimin was impressed with that because he would occasionally send glances to his boyfriend that clearly meant I can’t believe you’ve been talking for so long hyung.
Yoongi wanted to get offended by that because mind you Park Fucking Jimin, Yoongi can talk when he wants to, but he to was so taken away by how freaking easy was to talk with Jeongguk that he couldn’t find himself getting offended by anything.
Taehyung was for sure a talker too, he and Jimin started to chat about some movies Yoongi for sure had watched but probably slept on Jimin’s shoulder by the middle of it and said conversation lasted all the way to dessert.
Jimin baked them a chocolate cake - out of Yoongi’s request because who doesn’t love chocolate? - and Yoongi bought vanilla ice cream to eat with it. It was rather simple considering Jimin wanted to make homemade petit gateau but gave up on the idea when Yoongi told him that was being far too extra, but everyone seemed to love it.
Yoongi discovered that Jeongguk was majoring on music, just like he once was, and he almost screamed in excitement. After that the older boy completely ignored his boyfriend and other Mr. Nice and talked to Jeongguk until Jimin placed a hand on his shoulder to get his attention.
The coffee needed to be served and Jimin needed some help, but before Yoongi could even process what was happening, Taehyung was already up and offering his help to Jimin.
So with that Yoongi just remained sat and talking to Jeongguk about composition, while Jimin and Taehyung went to the kitchen to get the coffee.
In all honesty Yoongi hates coffee, but Jimin insisted that they needed to drink it, especially after he tasted Taehyung’s coffee and got offended by it.
All of them drank the coffee and Jimin received all sorts of compliments about it from Taehyung.
He would never admit it to anyone, but Yoongi spent a good amount of time of his dinner paying attention to how Taehyung and Jeongguk behaved with each other. He was too curious to know if they were married or not and after that night he just got even more curious.
Taehyung would act on instinct around Jeongguk. If the younger’s cup was almost empty, Taehyung would fill it without even paying attention to it. If Jeongguk just glanced at him, Taehyung would move his body closer to the younger boy and intertwine their fingers together. Yoongi was getting moved over all the affection.
Jeongguk would constantly cling to Taehyung and sometimes he would just admire the older boy as he spoke. His eyes held so much admiration Yoongi was close to punching himself in the face.
He was so distracted by his observation towards the couple and so into his conversations with Jeongguk that he missed how much Jimin actually drank during the dinner.
Just when he insisted with Taehyung that he would help Jimin to take the dishes to the kitchen that he noticed how undeniably drunk his boyfriend was. Jimin almost dropped two tea-cups on the floor instead of on the sink and Yoongi was surprised by his own reflex once he got the tea-cups midair.
“For Christ’s sake Jimin how much did you drink?” Yoongi asked holding both sides of Jimin to keep his boyfriend still.
Jimin just stared at Yoongi for a while before it hit him that he needed to reply. “A lot. It was so good.”
“You know you’re week to alcohol Jimin, how could I miss how much you were drinking?” Yoongi placed his boyfriend on the counter and went to the fridge to give him some soda.
“I forgot how easily I get drunk, babe. That wine is good shit.”
He was swearing, what meant he was so far gone now the only option was to make him sleep into a hangover.
“I know it is, sunshine, but you need to control yourself.” Yoongi said giving Jimin a cup of Coca-Cola.
“I was too nervous to control myself. I am sorry.” He pouted.
Yoongi sighed. “It’s okay. Let’s just insinuate they need to leave so you can go to bed okay?”
Jimin nodded while drinking and almost dropped Coca-Cola all over the floor.
“But let me do the talking, I can’t even imagine what you have been talking with Taehyung all this time.” Yoongi should’ve paid more attention to his surroundings.
“Don’t worry, hyung, Tae did almost all the talking. I mostly just nodded and laughed.” Jimin explained leaving his empty cup on the counter.
Yoongi picked the cup and placed it on the sink before some accident happened. “Good to know.”
Both of them walked back to the living room and saw that Taehyung and Jeongguk were already up.
“We should get going,” Taehyung said. “Jeongguk can’t stay up late or he will pass out.”
Jeongguk eagerly nodded at that. “University is tiring, you know how it is.”
“We know.” Yoongi replied walking them to the front door.
"Thanks so much for the meal. It was lovely." Taehyung said as he and Jeongguk walked out from the house.
"Don't mind that, are we even now?" Jimin said making Yoongi want to kick his pretty face.
"I'm sorry?" Taehyung asked confused and Jeongguk was frowning beside him.
"Jimin I think it’s better if-" Yoongi tried to say but Jimin interrupted him.
"You two are so overwhelming nice that I've been on a rush trying to keep up with it. I've got nothing on that level of niceness and you two are killing me with that." He bluntly said.
In that moment Yoongi wanted nothing more than punch Jimin’s face and maybe luckily broke his teeth. "Oh my gosh Park Jimin I'm never letting you have wine again."
Maybe it was God being merciful with the poor lost soul of Min Yoongi or perhaps Mr. and Mr. Nice were just so nice that nothing ever offended them because in that moment Taehyung started to laugh so hard Yoongi thought he was going to fall on the ground.
Jeongguk laughed just as much and once he controlled himself he simply said. "It's okay Yoongi-hyung. We can be a bit too much, we know that."
“We kinda have no self-control.” Taehyung said trying to stop his laughing.
"Yeah.” Jeongguk managed to calm himself down and Yoongi was still too surprised to say anything so he just stared at them. “Taehyung's parents gave us that house because they felt guilty after Taehyung used all his savings to buy them a boat. It was their dream but they always postponed it because they said that other stuff were their priority."
"Mom and dad are too sweet. They were taken away by my present though and they used to have this house on rent to some people because it was their old house. They were going to sell it after the people who last rented it left the country but they gave it to us instead." Taehyung explained.
Still too astonished to say anything Yoongi just nodded; meanwhile Jimin was just smiling widely at them. Yoongi will freaking end his life later.
"I wasn't this much of a nice person but Taehyung's personality is intoxicating." Jeongguk told them as he squeezed Taehyung’s hand.
Taehyung blushed slightly and smiled to his partner. "You're too kind."
"As we are all saying stuff and I'm drunk as hell right now can I ask you guys something?" Jimin was testing his boundaries and Yoongi was so close of punching him right now he could almost feel his boyfriend’s face on his knuckles.
"Hit us." Jeongguk said.
"Are you guys married? Because you seem so young and this kid is still at Uni..." Jimin pointed to Jeongguk.
"No we're not. Everyone thinks that but he is just my… soulmate." Taehyung told them making Yoongi feel the strange will to let out an aww.
"Yeah, we've been dating for ages now but as you said, bit too young to get married. We for sure will and we might call each other ‘my fiancé’ some days and ‘my partner’ some others but we're just dating." Jeongguk explained.
"We used to be roommates at Uni so once I got the house as a gift from my parents he just moved with me because we know we would do that eventually so why delay it." Taehyung said.
"Shit dudes the day you get married then ask me to be your best man ‘cause your relationship is beautiful to be seen." Jimin was talking too much and this needed to be stopped right in this moment.
"Jimin should never talk when he's drunk." Yoongi told Mr. and Mr. Nice.
"He's funny." Jeongguk chuckled.
Jimin turned around to face his boyfriend. "See babe, Mr. Nice Sweet Fluff thinks I'm funny."
Yoongi groaned internally.
"Heard that TaeTae? I'm Mr. Nice Sweet Fluff." Jeongguk told his boyfriend with a smile.
“For sure you are Kookie.” Taehyung replied.
“Not to be rude or anything, but I really need to get his drunk ass on bed before he goes out telling people his credit card password.” Yoongi said.
Jeongguk laughed. “We get it. I for sure say a lot of dumb shit when I’m drunk.”
“You wouldn’t call him Mr. Nice Sweet Fluff if you ever saw him drunk.” Taehyung widened his eyes as to say believe me.
“True.” Jeongguk agreed.” Anyways, thanks for everything, we will try to chill out but we won’t let you guys lose touch with us got it?”
“Got it.” Yoongi told them and oddly enough he wouldn’t have it any other way. He liked those two.
“See you guys around.” Taehyung said as he and Jeongguk left.
“Have nice dreams.” Jimin screamed before Yoongi could close the door.
Yoongi heard the other two laughing and simply gave them a wave once they glanced back. He then locked the door and turned around to face his drunk boyfriend.
“Bed. Now.”
Jimin just mumbled something and tripped his way upstairs.
Considering everything Yoongi assumed it could’ve been worse. At least now Jimin would chill the fuck out and so would their neighbors.
-
After a month both couples were having weekly dinner parties or Friday night drinks together, sometimes Jimin would even invite Seokjin, Namjoon and Hoseok for it and Taehyung and Jeongguk unsurprising befriended them all faster than anyone could ever had.
They were quite the gang as Jimin liked to call them, Yoongi preferred the term group but Jimin ignored him.
One time they witnessed drunk Jeongguk and Taehyung was right when he said they wouldn’t call that kid Mr. Nice Sweet Fluff if they ever saw him drunk. He was hyper as a five years old on a sugar rush and Taehyung needed to keep running around to avoid letting his boyfriend to any stupid shit.
Jeongguk tried to tell Seokjin his credit card password and Taehyung cursed Yoongi for a week after that because according to him, Yoongi was the one who placed that idea on Jeongguk’s mind.
Of course that it being Taehyung, that just meant he wouldn’t casually give cookies to Yoongi that week. He would pack just three and say they were for Jimin only. Taehyung must have known that Jimin would just share his cookies with Yoongi in the end but Kim Taehyung is a niceness pro who has no clue as how to be actually mad at someone.
Jimin and Yoongi, along with Seokjin, Namjoon and Hoseok, attended Jeongguk’s graduation ceremony.
Seokjin cried, Namjoon and Hoseok took some whistles to make noise once Jeongguk’s name was announced, Jimin kept shouting yes that’s my neighbor Mr. Nice Sweet Fluff the entire time while Yoongi tried to shut him up. Yoongi actually hugged the kid that day, what made Seokjin cry even more, and Taehyung was the loudest of all of them.
Taehyung screamed, jumped, used Namjoon’s whistle and cried; he did it all. He also jumped off the benches once the ceremony ended and kissed Jeongguk so passionately that Seokjin was tempted to cover all the kid’s eyes around.
Not even two months later Yoongi and Jimin were invited to be the boys best men for their weeding. Jimin almost had a heart attack and gladly accept the request. Jimin ended up being Taehyung’s best man and Yoongi was Jeongguk’s.
The weeding ended with Taehyung telling everyone that the best men should be the next ones to get married and Yoongi actually kicked him for that.
Jeongguk started to work with Yoongi on the music company and Taehyung managed to get Jimin and Hoseok a job. Yoongi is starting to believe that boy is actually an angel sent from above to protect everyone around him.
With that Yoongi was forced – as if he wasn’t dying for this pff of course he wasn’t, what are anyone insinuating here? – to actually propose to Park Jimin. As expected Jeongguk was Yoongi’s best man, Jimin on other hand went nuts and decided he wanted no only Taehyung, but Seokjin, Namjoon and Hoseok as his best men. No one dared to go against that so Jimin ended up having four best men.
Everything worked out in the end. Misters Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice turned out to be the best kind of neighbors-best-friends Yoongi and Jimin could ever have. Jimin stopped his insane competition against them, because let’s face it he never stood a chance, and Yoongi actually found some real friends for him because even if he liked Seokjin, Namjoon and Hoseok, they were Jimin’s friends. Yoongi liked to call Jeongguk his best friend, he was the nicest kid he ever met and Taehyung wasn’t that bad himself.
Yoongi was really excited to see what the future prepared for him.
