“You sure I’m supposed to be here Numbuh 9?” 11 looked suspiciously at the house in front of her. It looked just like a normal house though she knew better than to trust that.
“That’s what the coordinates say. Given directly from Moonbase, as a special mission for you.” Numbuh 9 reinsured.
11 held the parcel tightly. This wasn’t the first time she was sent a special solo mission. However the nature of all of it felt…off? “Understood, have the coordinates on standby if things get hairy here I might need extraction.”
“Roger that 11. Be safe, numbuh 9 over and out.” The intercoms went quiet.
Leaving 11 alone with the house, “I guess…I just knock?” The instructions of this mission where lacking to say the least. Deciding direct entry would be the best course of action.
Tapping the red door mildly.
A voice came from inside, muffled but somehow familiar?
The lock on the door clicked as it began to open. “Don’t worry I got it Mama–”
There standing in front of 11 was the KND’s very own supreme leader 100. Dressed in his pjs and wrapped in a blanket.
“Um–” 11 was to dumbfounded to speak.
100 a mixture of confusion and embarrassment. “11! What are you doing here???” Voice trying to sound commanding as he normally did.
“That's honestly a good question? Because I’m not entirely sure either.” 11 shrugged.
“Well okay, you need to get out of here before–” 100 started to push her.
“OH honeybun who is at the door!” An adult woman came into view. With long brown hair that matched 100’s. She walked forward placing a gentle hand on 100s head. “Hello who might you be?” She smiled sweetly.
“Mama this is my operative–I mean 11–I MEAN CREE!” 100 huffed, quite frazzled.
“Smooth…” 11 whispered, a grin spreading across her face. “Hello ma'am my name is Cree! I go to school with your son and was just coming by to drop something off then be on my way!” Playing the part of the child every parent loves perfectly.
“Oh! So you go to Grim brother’s school for gifted and talented children as well!” 100’s mother beamed.
100’s slapped his face before slowly dragging it down.
“Yes–” 11 looked like she was sucking on a lemon, trying to hold back her laughter.
“Well isn’t that wonderful! Please come in, come in!” She began pushing both 100 and 11 into the house.
11 trying to resist “No please, I don't want to be an intrusion!”
“Nonsense! You’re not an intrusion at all!” She ended up pushing both the kids into the living room. “Besides, my sweet cinnamon pie has been sick all week. He started to feel better yesterday but there was no point in sending him to school today seeing as it's Friday! Oh it's just so nice of his sweet friend to come by and make sure he was doing okay!”
“Does she breathe?” 11 whispered under her breath.
“No.” 100 informed wishing death upon himself in these moments.
“Now, now Sweetpie,” attention aimed at 100. “Why don’t you get out of those pj’s so you and Cree can play.”
“Mama I really don’t think that’s necessary. I’m sure she was only expecting a short visit.” 100 desperately tried to defuse the situation.
“Now dear I won't hear of it, if your friend leaves now she won’t have a chance to try my triple chocolate, and butterscotch cookies! And you know the rules of this house!” Putting her hand to her ear waiting for him to say it.
100 let out a long sigh, “no guest will leave this home without being fed….”
“That’s right, now hurry up young man!” His mother ushered him up the stairs. 100 mumbling under his breath, “stupid southern hospitality.”
Before guiding 11 to a couch, handing her a glass of lemonade. Which appeared as if it was magic. “Now then you make yourself at home darling. If you need anything, anything at all you let me know. Now you will have to excuse me, but I need to make sure the cookies are coming along!” 100’s mother disappeared into the kitchen. Both kids unaware that she was in fact starting the cookies at that very moment.
11 sat there, feeling awkward to say the least. While she respected 100 as a trusted leader of the KND, she honestly had very little idea why she was sent on this ‘mission?’ was it even really considered that? So why was she sent? She wasn’t super close to 100, they were friends? Or at least friendly towards each other, always having good conversations when they spoke. However definitely not, I’m coming over to your house close.
Numbuh 274, or 362 would have been a far better pick, so why? She was brought out of her thoughts by a whistle.
Then “11…”
She looked over the couch to see 100, no longer in his pajamas but not in his supreme leader getup either, just his normal clothes. Waving her over to him towards the back sliding door.
11 looked over her surroundings, as quietly as she could sliding off the couch and carefully taking her first few steps. Thankfully the plush carpet took up most of the noise, but a mother always has those senses.
“Is everything alright in there Darling?” 100’s mom called from the kitchen.
“Everything’s okie dokie!” 11 called back.
She moved faster, running towards 100. Him reaching out his hand as if 11 was being chased by something, and she needed to be dragged in. Taking her hand he pulled her out the backdoor into the yard. 100 quietly closing the sliding door behind them. “Get to the treehouse,” he commanded, pointing towards a small wooden structure.
11 didn’t question she just ran, 100 close behind her.
Once arriving 100 hit the tree, releasing a rope ladder. Both sprinting up in a second, 100 pulling it back up with them.
The treehouse was quite larger on the inside then the out, one of the newest innovations with two by four technology.
11 looked around catching her breath. “So you never stop working huh?”
“Watch it.” 100 gave her the glare. Taking a seat in front of his computer. “Now 11 what are you doing here?” He leaned forward, hands knitted together.
11 shuttered, but stood strong. “Honestly sir…” a dramatic pause. “I have no IDEA!” She waved around the parcel she was given. “I was given these coordinates from moonbase, and this package and given nothing, no other information!” She hufferd crossing her arms. “I’m just as confused as you are!”
100 nodded, 11 was one of his leaders he trusted when it came to sincerity. Reaching his hand out. “May I see the package.”
11 handed it to him without resistance.
He ripped the brown paper off to reveal.
“Papers?” 11 leaned in.
100 flipped through the stack. “These…are literally just my normal paperwork that I sign on moonbase?”
11 threw her arms in the air. “THEN why was I sent here to give them to you?”
100 was just as equally puzzled. Spinning his chair around to the computer.
“What are you looking at?” 11 asked, leaning against his chair.
“Authorization, in situations where the Supreme Leader is sick a select few are allowed residential information about where they live. To provide secure documents…” 100 kept typing on his keyboard. “Not to sound rude or anything operative but I didn’t give you authorization for this situation.”
11 nodded she understood, “maybe I was put on the list by accident by someone?”
“Negative–only Supreme Leaders have access to this list and it is required for them to sign off…..” He titled his head slightly looking at 11. “It’s…also the list used for when a supreme leader is decommissioned. It’s who gets to bring them home.”
11’s demeanor fell, decommission was always a sore topic, even more so now that both of them were in the final years of being in the KND.
“Here we go.” 100 directed their attention to the screen.
The list went as followed: Numbuh 274, Numbuh 362, Numbuh 60, Numbuh 86
All the people 11 had figured. 100 leaned in, as if looking closer at the screen would reveal her name hidden beneath something.
“Weird,” She hummed.
“Agreed,” He whistled looking over the papers she brought again.
“Permission sir, to look closer at my file from the Supreme leader's end?” She started to lean over the keyboard.
“Permission granted.” 100 nodded, looking over the paperwork wondering if some secret was hidden within.
11 started typing away, retrieving her KND file. Reading through it quietly out loud.
“Numbuh 11 real name Cree, age 11 leader of sector v, the coolest most smartest leader in the knd.” 100 raised an eyebrow at her, trying not to be amused. “I stand by the statement.” He softly chuckled. 11 glanced at the notes written about her. With one of them catching her eye over the rest. ‘Well adapt leader, trustworthy with high risk missions. Also is very cute’
‘Well I wasn’t meant to see that!’ Her mind screamed, as her face let it be known she read it.
Thankfully 100 was too unaware to notice it.
11 kept scrolling down, nothing seemed out of the ordinary on the file. She was getting ready to exit out, only to be halted by 100, grabbing her hand.
“What’s that dreamcatcher doing there?” Pointing to the monitor.
“Is that not part of the system?” 11 expressed, she had just assumed it was supposed to be there.
“No…it has not shown up before either?” 100 explained, taking the mouse from 11.
“Hopefully it's not a virus?” 11 questioned.
“I doubt it.” Taking a deep breath 100 clicked it.
Code started to flood the screen.
“Oh shoot it is a virus isn't it!” 100 leaned back putting his hand in his face.
“Sir, wait look!” 11 shook him.
A new screen appeared, asking for a name.
11 and 100 side eyed each other, before 100 started to type.
[NUMBUR 100]
[ACCESS GRANTED…]
A new folder started to emerge. “What the heckkkkk,” 11 looked at the folder name. “Operation…E.A.T.S? Does that mean anything to you Sir?”
100 stared at it coldly. “Possibly,” he clicked on the folder.
A new pop up appeared, it stated:
[If you are reading this, then the system has flagged the following disturbances in a close enough period of time to take action. NUMBUH 11 will be dispatched to find and inform the supreme leader of the disturbances. Within files is everything you should need….]
Before closing itself out, to reveal an annoyingly large amount of files.
11’s month was agape. 100 was stunned.
“Sooooo at least we know why you are here?” 100 chuckled.
“What is it even talking about? What disturbance? I don’t know anything?” 11 started to panic.
100 put his hand on her shoulder. “Hang on operative. Let me look at a few things first, mainly the authorization of this. Because at the moment only me and 274 could have the clearance to pull something like this off.”
She started to fidget with her hands. “You think this is some sort of prank?”
“We’ll find out.” 100 reinsured.
As 100 promised he started to work his magic, 11 pacing back and forth now taking over looking over the paperwork she brought. Maybe there was some kind connection?
100 whistled, “found something.”
11 came closer, “had to do some reworking, but this right here should tell us who exactly gave the authorization and who created the files.” 100 said proudly.
11 beamed, they could finally figure out this whole mess. That hope dropped when they read the monitor.
[AUTHORIZATION BY: SUPREME LEADER NUMBUH 3000…]
“There’s no way…” 100 started typing loudly at the keyboard. Trying to run the system again, then again, then again. It all came back with the same answer, Numbuh 3000.
“I don’t understand? Why would she do that?” 100 spun around. “11 did you have any connection with the past supreme leader?” His eyes desperate for answers.
After 3000’s decommission, 100 took up the role at the age of seven. He was extremely attached to the last Supreme Leader.
“I mean, yes? My older brother numbuh 891 he was 3000’s right hand man.” She shrugged. 11 had assumed that 100 knew this, but considering his reaction she guessed he didn’t.
“...891 was french.” 100 stated.
“Actually only half French, but he chose to stay there when we moved to America so.” 11 corrected.
The wheels in 100’s brain were turning. Before standing up dramatically. “WAIT?”
11 fell back. “You were the younger cadet that was always hanging out with us?”
“Y–yes!” trying to steady herself. As 100 helped her back up. “Did you not know that?”
100 grew embarrassed, “No, I mean–Okay but in my defense!”
11 raised an eyebrow, “no listen! I was on a mission for our cadet graduation! 3000 pulled some strings to get me in early. So I never found out your number, also sense I thought you were from France, I assumed you be in that sector. When I met you during tag, you didn’t have the accent anymore…you also changed a bit.” 100 explained.
“Dude…” 11 was dumbfounded.
“No no I don’t want to hear it! 3000 was basically banking on me becoming the next supreme leader! I met so many people in those first few years! Forgive me for not recognizing you!” 100 protested, trying to lessen the stupidity he felt in this situation.
“Yeah accept WE HUNG OUT?” 11 grabbed his arms.
“YOU SPOKE FRENCH!” 100 protested!
A muffled sound came from down below.
“en–Cree the cookies are ready! Come on down!” 100’s mom called out.
“Coming Mama!” He yelled back looking at 11. “We're not done talking about this.”
“Agreed.”
Both headed down the ladder.
Missing the computer, that started to flash red with the words.
[WARNING DANGER…]
