Chapter Text
Felix was sitting on his bed.
“Felix,” Duusu said, flying over to him, “You shouldn't do this if even just transforming makes you this tired.”
“I'm fine, really.” Felix had said this at least twice.
“You're lying.” She said, her dark eyes boring into him. “And you're terrible at hiding it. You almost passed out last time.” Felix closed his eyes and let out a shuddering breath.
“Duusu,” Felix said, “Spread my feathers.” He opened his eyes and drew one of the small feathers from his fan, closing it in his fist. He focused on his emotions, his anger, and maybe a bit of protectiveness. Dark blue energy clouded around his hand; it was cold, painfully cold. “It's just in your head, Felix,” Argos muttered under his breath.
Only moments later, he instinctively released the feather and pulled his arm back. The feather fell to the ground, completely white. Another failure.
Another failure.
“Fold my feathers.” Felix stood up and started pacing around the room. “Why is it just not working,” Felix said.
“Felix breathe,” Duusu squealed.
“Felix!” Felix stopped moving dead in his tracks. He couldn't move at all, even if he wanted to.
“Breathe.” she said calmly. An unwanted breath entered his lungs, and then another and a third.
“Good.” His hand flew to his chest, catching his breath.
“What was that?” Felix asked. He looked legitimately scared.
“Felix, do not try that again today.” Duusu said.
“Okay, sister.” Felix looked at the ground before turning to sit on his bed.

The moment Felix woke up, Duusu flew over to him.
“Are you okay—”
“Why wouldn't I be?” Felix asked.
“Well, yesterday you almost passed out twice and—” He had kind of forgotten about… most of yesterday
“I'll be fine.”
