Chapter Text
Echizen stared at the sweater that lay delicately draped across her bed, conflicted.
It was adorable, pastel pinks and blues in a zig zag pattern that looked really difficult to pull off. It was blatantly homemade; lumpy in some places, threadbare in others. The rows were uneven, the zig zags started out almost too small to see, then grew larger and larger as the row went on. There were multiple little holes scattered around it, and the hem had already started to fray.
Miyano had knitted her a sweater.
She had worked so hard on it too, spending all her free time knitting so she could finish it before Christmas, and beamed proudly when Echizen opened the gift and nearly cried with joy at the sight of it.
“My friend Shiraishi helped me out a little! She’s really good at making clothes!” Miyano said, her words nearly tripping over each other in her excitement. “But I did all the actual work, she just gave me tips and stuff, hehe!”
Miyano looked over the sweater, and started to look a little nervous. “It was a lot harder than I thought it was, and I know I made a lot of mistakes, but it’s the first one I’ve ever made. Do...do you like it?”
Echizen clutched the sweater to her chest and started blubbering. “Its so b-b-b-beautiful!! I love it, thank you so much!!”
And it was. It was adorable and absolutely the kind of thing Echizen would coo over. Miyano knew her well, and knew how much she loved cute clothes like this.
...On other people anyways. On herself, though, Echizen felt weird dressing in cute, feminine clothes like this. It always felt like she was trying too hard, and it didn’t suit her at all. She was a Tough Girl, a delinquent, and she had a reputation as such. A shirt so uncharacteristic of her might ruin that reputation! People might look at her weird or laugh!
But still.
“My girlfriend knitted me a sweater.” she mumbled, and felt giddy with affection. Even now, saying those words “my girlfriend” made her heart pound. It still seemed so unbelievable. Miyano was her girlfriend.
She pulled the sweater on over her head. It was at least two sizes too large. The material itched slightly.
It was perfect.
