Needed Help - Yang Jeongin x Reader

Summary:

Y/N goes to school normally, going through her dumb lessons. Although, she is struggling alot in French, so her friend asks her other friend - Jeongin - to tutor her.

Work Text:

Y/N and Jeongin have known about each other for ages. They don't hang out much, only once or twice when their mutual friend, Irina forced them to. Sure their 4 yr difference did impact it sometimes, it wasn't that big of an issue. Jeongin recently finished college and graduated as a straight A, and decided to help out as a tutor for extra cash. Y/N, on the other hand, was an average student, getting straight B's, occasionally B+'s and she still had 3 years left.

The next day was her test, where she would take one of the most important exams. She woke up as a mess, like always, she groaned and got up, picking her clothes. She chose her personal favourite, a sweater with a plaid skirt, tights and long socks. Cute. She finished getting ready for the day, and walked to school. It took 20 minutes, so she turned on her headphones to listen to music. At least one thing to make the start of the day better. She got to the gates, smiling to the passing teachers who she hated the guts of. There she saw Irina, who was one year older than Y/N.

"Hey!!" She exclaimed, in her forever cheery tone.

"Hii!" Y/N responded, trying to act as happy as her.

"Ugh I've got double science today!" She groaned.

"I have double French, and I'm so bad at it!" Y/N moaned, disappointed.

"Hey... Jeongin is gonna be tutoring at the school, he's doing most subjects including French, maybe he could tutor you?" Irina asked, smirking.

Y/N thought it over for a while. She didn't know him as well as Irina did, but maybe this was a chance for them to finally get to know each other.

"Sure, why not." She sighed. Irina grinned, taking out her phone to message Jeongin. He responded almost instantly.

"He said yes!" Irina exclaimed. "The first tutor is tomorrow after school for an hour." Great, that's after Y/N's English test. She studied harder, hopefully she'll get higher marks than usual.

"Mhm." Y/N smiled.

The bell rang, signifying the start of form. They split up, waving. Y/N's form was in the maths block, and she began sprinting there. She looked down, keeping her head low to not embarrass herself. Suddenly, she bumped into something hard and fell.

"Sorry... sorry..." She muttered, gathering her stuff.

"Y/N, it's me." The voice smiled.

Y/N looked up and saw Jeongin. His hair was now blonde, and he was wearing his glasses along with an outfit her teachers would wear.

"Ohh! Hi!" Y/N exclaimed, standing up.

"So, French tutoring tomorrow?" He asked.

"Yep! I've got to go, I'll be late. Catch you later?" Y/N scurried.

"Yeah, cya!" He shouted, as she ran off.

She made it just in time. She silently sat down, her head low to avoid getting too much attention. Her form today was about racism and discrimination. Of course, she knew all about it. They teach this every year for a whole unit. Finally, form time ended 30 minutes later. First, she had French. Great...Her teacher was glaring at the class as they entered one by one, trying to act nonchalant, but just looking awkward instead.

She sat down on her seat, which wasn't that bad. She was next to Minho, the quiet kid. On her other side there was Inayah, the girl who wasn't afraid to talk over the teacher.

The three of them grew close over the year, talking all throughout lessons. Inayah and Minho were a duo, known for being basically opposites.

The three of them shared almost all classes and always were placed near eachother.

This lesson was revision for the test in 2 days time. Y/N sighed as she took out her book, dissapointed.

"Hey... You okay?" Inayah asked, tapping her shoulder. Y/N looked up at her, then nodded.

"Yeah, I'm fine thank you." Y/N said.

Inayah looked up at Minho, and he just frowned. Y/N noticed it, and smirked.

"You know... eyes speak more than words. You always look at eachother." She smiled.

"S-shut up!" Minho whispered, his face red.

"Mhm that's what I thought..." Y/N said, pleased with herself.

The lesson wasn't at all that hard, just some bits and bobs from across the past year. This time Y/N payed attention and answered questions, getting them right.

The teacher smiled at her enthusiasm.

The lesson ended, and Y/N bolted out, Minho and Inayah trying to catch up.

"Slow down!" Inayah angrily stomped.

Y/N stopped and waited for them. The three walked together side by side.

"We have history next, right?" Minho asked.

"Yep! I can't wait!" Inayah said.

"Sigh, we all know you're the smartest, plus we have your favourite teacher today." Y/N groaned.

"That's rightttt~" Inayah winked.

They made it to the class, except this time Y/N sat on the opposite side of the room, meanwhile Minho and Inayah were sat together. How did they manage that?

Y/N sat next to Felix. They never really talked, yet they were in the same friend group.

"Morning." Felix quietly said.

"Morning!" Y/N exclaimed.

Lesson began, and it was yet another revision lesson. Could this day get any worse?

The lesson ended quicker than Y/N expected, it felt shorter.

She went straight to the canteen to see her friend group together, consisting of:

Minho, Inayah, Irina, Felix, Seungmin and Hyunjin.

"Hi!" She exclaimed, sitting down on a chair.

"Hello!" Seungmin said first.

Y/N took out a Uno packet out of her bag.

"So... who's ready to play?" She said dramatically.

She began handing out cards to everyone, 7 cards each.

Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she spots a familiar face. Jeongin. Maybe he could join the game?

"Jeongin!" Y/N called out.

He saw her, and smiled warmly before walking over.

"Hi Y/N, hi Irina!" He said.

"Wanna join the match?" Hyunjin asked before Y/N got to.

"Why not." He replied, sitting down next to Y/N and Irina.

He got his 7 cards and the game began.

At first it went smoothly, with laughter. But, Y/N found herself staring at Jeongin.

His features are just so... perfect. How did I not see it before? Plus, blonde hair really suits him... Y/N thought, examining him.

"Uhm... Y/N." Irina whispered. "It's your turn..."

"Yeah, Y/N, stop staring at Jeongin and get back to the game!" Minho exclaimed playfully.

"S-Shut up!" Y/N stuttered, placing her card.

"So... you find me attractive?" Jeongin smirked, asking Y/N.

"What? No, ew." She said, with a disgusted face.

Jeongin rolled his eyes, before going back to the game. It was a tight game, plus 4's and plus 2's being stacked. At the end it was Felix and Jeongin.

"And... plus 4. I win." Felix exclaimed, placing his last card dramatically.

It was dead silent. Then laughter.

"He really thought... he ate that..." Inayah laughed loudly.

"Hey, I did!" He said, yet again causing more laughter.

The bell rang, signalling the next lessons beginning.

The group waved to eachother, separating into groups to reach their classes.

The rest of the day was chill and calm, usually relaxing.

Once the bell for the end of the day rang, Y/N began walking home with Lisa, her neighbour.

"Since when did you know that one fit guy?" Lisa asked.

"Did... you just call Jeongin fit...? Like that Jeongin...?" Y/N asked, trying not the laugh.

"Yes, are you blind? He's so..." Lisa said dramatically.

"Your type is so weird..." Y/N rolled her eyes.

"But you love me for it!" Lisa smirked.

"Yes, I do." Y/N sighed.

Lisa had to go a separate turn. She waved goodbye to Y/N and continued walking home.

Y/N got home and went straight up to her room, throwing her bag on her bed. Today was a wild ride, it feels nice to be home.

But yet, her heart seemed to flutter at his name, she isn't sure why but... it is.
