Work Text:
Business was good for Mijin, the customers were decent if not rather welcoming. It was easy to grow close to them. And the woman enjoyed coming home and seeing her beautiful wife.
Sure Mijin had her bad days but it helped that Hari was always there to make her feel better, some days through talking and some days…
One evening Mijin was serving a few customers, it wasn’t particularly busy and was rather late. The only customers were regulars with the occasional tourist coming given it was a smaller business and had good ratings.
The entrance door banged open all of a sudden. Almost making the woman drop the drinks she was serving, almost.
4 men entered each at a different level of drunkness, one man completely drunk, walking as though each step was him risking falling, another also drunk but less so, the third was red faced and clearly had something to drink but was sober enough to act decent, and the last was quieter, clearly he hadn’t drunk at all, staying behind his friends as he avoided everyone’s gaze.
Mijin sighed to herself, shit they were gonna be trouble.
And they were. From the second they sat down. Mijin had to cover her nose as she took their orders the stench of alcohol so strong she could smell it from miles away.
They all ordered ramen and a coke. The drunk man ordering a beer too.
Mijin rolled her eyes before taking their menus and walking away.
She’s walked away so fast she almost missed when one of them wolf whistled her, almost. Stopping for a second before returning to the kitchen.
Maybe he wasn’t wolf whistling at her? Maybe it wasn’t him.
But Mijin knew. Damn it she knew.
She didn’t text Hari, she was probably practicing for her upcoming archery competition.
Mijin smiled to herself, thinking about Hari, well it was enough to lighten her up slightly. Just enough to give her the boost she needed to face their ugly faces again.
“Hey boss, long day?” Her chef Asahi had asked.
Mijin nodded
“Usual stuff, you know. I’m gonna start closing in a few minutes by the way.”
The younger boy nodded.
Mijin returned to the main dining area, quickly giving the 4 boys their meals as they snickered to each other. The one in the middle had obviously eyed Mijin up and down.
The older woman unsure of what to do ignored him. Walking away again as she didn’t turn around, instead busting herself with the other customers, this time thinking of Hari didn’t help.
As the evening droned on Mijin’s customers started to disperse either on their own or because the boys drew them away, Mijin found customers crying after being insulted or red faced in anger after having fish balls catapulted at them.
Mijin started to grow tired eventually slamming open the kitchen door to approach their table.
“I am going to have to ask you 4 to leave, you’re causing a commotion, upsetting other people here as well as creating more messes for the restaurant. Please go, now.”
They all stopped, the main guy seemed the less fazed as he smirked to himself. Letting out a laugh Mijin held back a gag and the strong scent of beer.
“You think what we did before was causing a commotion and upsetting people?” He laughed.
Mijin watched as he stood up, walked crookedly to the next table, he pushed down the two cups on their table, soya milk spilling all over as it began to drip onto the ground, he flipped their bowls, ramen adding to the mix.
“Oops.” He chuckled.
One of the other boys in the group laughed as well as another smiled.
Mijin was about to move and stop him before she felt a hand grip her onto the booth.
“No don’t move, it’s no fun.” One of the more drunken boys chuckled as he pinned her down.
Mijin watched helplessly as glasses began to shatter, food and drinks spilling all over the floor, chairs kicked to the ground. Everybody too stunned to stop them.
When the boy finally kicked down the last chair he turned back to Mijin, laughing at how tears began to gather at the corner of her eyes.
“Are you crying? You fucking wimp. It’s just a few chairs you can pay for more.” He laughed.
The kitchen door slammed open as Asahi ran out.
“Boss! I heard the commotion and thought I’d-“
He glanced around, the restaurant was in shambles.
“Get your grubby hands off my boss this instant!” He yelled at the boy who’d been pinning Mijin down.
Mijin didn’t move even when she was free. She just glanced around at the mess, close to tears as she felt the growing need to die.
“What the fuck is wrong with you. Get out of here.” Asahi pointedly told the 4 boys.
When they didn’t budge. He gave them a look, pulling out a small but sharp knife from his chef belt.
Out of instinct they all backed away, the one whod done all the damage laughed again.
“Jeez it was just a joke, god fucking whore didn’t need to get her husband on our asses. We are leaving.” He joked.
This was the final straw for Mijin as she fell to her knees, regardless of the shattered glass on the ground.
Asahi noticed, immediately going to her side as he ordered everyone else to leave.
Mijin didnt talk, she only cried quietly, not hearing anything staying on the ground, Asahi started noticing bloody dripping from her soaked trousers and to the ground.
What was he to do?
Hari had just finished practice when she’d gotten a call. Mid packing up her bow as she accepted it.
“Asahi? What is wrong? You know not to call me unless-“
“It is an emergency! Something happened at the restaurant, it’s in shambles and Mijin is… just get her quickly.”
Hari’s face began to darken as she grit her teeth.
“What’s wrong with Mijin?”
“Just get over here now!”
That was enough for Hari to run to her car and drive as fast as it and she could to the restaurant. Asahi was pacing outside, not good.
She didn’t waste any time talking to him as she rushed to Mijin’s side, kneeling to avoid the glass as she did so she quick began rubbing her back the way she knew the woman liked it.
“Mijin, what happened?” Hari asked softly.
When Mijin didn’t respond Hari asked again.
“Honey, please tell me.”
Mijin looked up, and Hari could see her puffy red face, her cheeks very damp with tears and her eyes still wet.
“Love.” Hari gasped.
Mijin didn’t speak.
“How do you feel?” Hari asked.
Humiliated, Mijin felt humiliated. She had just let a couple of drunk boys trash her restaurant and she had watched helplessly.
“It’s wrecked, everything is wrecked. I worked so hard, we worked so hard on upgrading this place and it’s all gone, they ripped the menus and shattered most our glassware and bowls.” Mijin cried.
Hari held Mijin close. Rubbing circles into her back as she let the woman cry into her shirt.
When she pulled Mijin out she cupped the woman’s face. Looking directly into her eyes.
“It’s not all gone for we are here Mijin. We are still here and I still love you. Whether this place looks nice or not.”
“But the menus and the cups-“
“We will make more or we will buy more. Jang-Park Mijin. I will buy you hundreds of tableware and I will make my hand burn making thousands of menus if it keeps you happy.”
This made Mijin smile as she planted a kiss on Hari’s lips. Their matching wedding rings glistening under the cheap lighting of the restaurant.
“I really do love you, you know?” Mijin said softly.
“And i love you. Now how about we clean your knees up?” Hari glanced down.
Mijin hadn’t even noticed the stabbing pain in her knees. She stood up with the aid of Hari holding her.
“How dare they mess with the most beautiful woman on this living world, they’re lucky to get a glance from you love.” Hari scowled.
Mijin smirked.
“Hon, you know. Seeing you this worked up has gotten some parts of me all excited. Mind helping me to the bedroom?” She smirked giving Hari a wink.
The archer sighed before shaking her head.
“Not tonight love, you’re hurt.”
Mijin frowned.
“I don’t care, I can grit my teeth through it.”
“I care. No sex tonight. It’s going to be a sex less night where the most intimate thing I do is massage you to help you feel ready to sleep.”
Mijin sighed to herself.
“fine at least I’m getting something.”
Hari rolled her eyes as she shared yet another kiss.
The archer carried Mijin home. Her muscles burnt with every step but knowing it would burn more for the other woman if she were to walk herself was enough motivation to keep Hari going until they reached the comfort of their living room sofa.
Hari dropped Mijin on the soft cushions before quickly leaving for the first aid box.
“You should’ve called when they first started making trouble honey.” Hari sighed as she disinfected the wound.
Mijin winced through her smirk.
“I didn’t wanna bother your practice session.”
Hari gave her a pointed stare.
“Park Mijin I care more about you, your wellbeing and your current situations a whole lot more than I do about archery. If I miss out on half an hours of practice so what? I’d much rather miss out on half an hour practice than miss out on helping you with a group of jerks.”
The shorter woman’s smirk faded into a smile. She quickly connected Hari’s lips with her causing the archer to drop the roll of bandage she held.
“I love you honey.” Mijin smiled as she pulled away.
“You’ve lost your mean side babe.” Hari teased.
“Ugh shut up.”
Mijin connected their lips once more.
“I love you too.” Hari whispered between kisses.
It had been about a month since the situation had occurred. The scars on Mijin’s leg still lingered but they’d lost their ache long ago.
The boys hadn’t made another reappearance since their first visit to Mijin’s restaurant. A good sign for both women.
Hari had been helping Mijin serve out dishes, sneaking the occasional side hug as she passed her wife, when a drunk boy not much older than 18 entered.
Hari glanced at Mijin’s face. The horror on it was all she needed to see, it was clear as day to the archer that this was the boy. He’d come back. Likely to terrorise her wife again, but not on her watch.
In one quick stride she’d grabbed the boy by the collar and pulled him out the restaurant.
“You dare show your filth ridden face here again. After you trashed the place and left my wife heartbroken and in tears?”
The boy grunt before letting out a laugh.
“Wife? So you’re a couple of dykes, I knew there was something fishy about the place and the woman who served us, if I known she was a dyke I would’ve done much worse. Lucky bitch.” He slurred
His words were stopped with a punch at his eye. Staggering to the ground he clutched it and fell back.
“You fucking-“
He froze at the sight of Hari pointing an arrow at him, where had she even got it from? Unless- no.
“Listen here, neither me nor Mijin nor any of the customers here ever wish to see you show your ugly face both inside or around the restaurant, so go back to whatever low rent apartment you came from and leave us all alone.” Hari scowled.
The boy nodded, wasting no time to run away, almost falling multiple times as he did so. The sight was satisfying to the archer as she smirked at his fading figure.
Hari turned to see Mijin looking at her with wide eyes.
“That was so hot, my wife is so hot.”
Hari sighed, you this was the Mijin she had married.
“Fancy spending some time in your office?” Hari asked like she’d done for many months.
And similar to those many months, Mijin nodded. Following the archer to the office.
