What are you hiding

Summary:

You work for Knives, but the only time you've seen eachother was at some work party. That was the extent of your encounter with him, but you stuck out, so now Knives is curious.

Notes:

I finally managed something! I enjoy dipping my toes into yandere content now and then, but MAN I am rusty at cooking up the scenarios. That being said, I needed to scratch this itch, I like the idea of Nai being backhanded and angry about his own obsessions lol. I might dip back into this idea, so wish me luck on thinking up coherent ideas lmao.

Work Text:

The number of humans Millions Knives let near himself was in the single digits. Legato Bluesummers, William Conrad, and that was about it. A man of his status and power had no reason to bother with the parasites that inhabited Gunsmoke, after all, so he left the recruitment of engineers and workers to Legato or Conrad and only made appearances for the occasional mixer or general social event where the doctor thought his ‘charm’ would be handy.

So, when a human like you caught his attention, it wasn’t with his permission.

“Is this all they offer?” He asked Legato, his expression twisted with disgust while his glacial eyes raked over the few skills that had been noted down in your work file. A file that he’d thought would be more helpful and detailed. But, it was instead pitifully thin. The manilla folder almost thicker than the paper it held.
“It is, Master. I even asked some people closer to them, and they’re skilled in their work, but not a prodigy.” Legato confirmed. Stood a respectful distance from the blonde’s piano in the spacious room with his hands clasped in front of him and his shoulders stiffened by the way a halo of irritable sewing needles spun above Nai’s head.

This is it? This is all they offer to me as a basic employee? The blonde asked himself. Your useless file tossed to the side for the psychic to clean up while he continued to think. Why did they seem to stand out then? It wasn’t the first time I saw people socialize at an office party, and I’ve seen better looking humans for sure. So, why do I remember them best from that stupid thing? They must be hiding something.
“Legato.” He said after a long moment of silence. His voice deceptively smooth and level despite the halo of needles that hinted at his melancholy.
“Yes, Master Knives.”
“Dig up everything you can on that worker. I want to know everything there is to know about them.” And Legato gave a simple nod before he left the room. Leaving Knives to take a deep breath and banish the sharp metal above his head. It doesn’t matter. I’ll find out what they’re hiding, I’ll deal with it, and that parasite will be dealt with appropriately from there. He told himself as his fingers returned to the acrylic keys to fill his elegant room with a frustrated melody.
