The two sisters took a seat at a booth inside the Blue Moon on a quiet Monday morning, the one sided conversation filling the unusually quiet space. Sujin knew Luna would kick her ass later for it, she was likely going over their plan for repairing the damage from the Duvosian attack. She couldn’t focus. Not with Pen’s letter burning a hole in the pocket of her jeans. Not with his final words to her piercing what felt like a seemingly stone cold heart. “Hey! Jin, are you ignoring me?” Luna snapped her fingers in Sujin’s face, annoyance spreading over her usually smiling face. “Are you alright? You’ve been so quiet today.”
Sujin shrugged, leaning back in the booth’s soft cushioning. “Pen wrote me a letter.”
Her older sister tensed, reaching across the table. “Did…did you read it?” Luna’s expression frown had softened, her brown eyes fixing on Sujin’s furrowed brows. “I suppose you did.”
“I didn’t think I cared, Lune, I wasn’t even that interested in him in the first place.”
“You dated him for over a year, Jin. It’s alright to have those weird, conflicting feelings.”
Sujin nodded, a deep sigh sounding from her lips. “Why do I feel bad for moving on like I am? I mean, our relationship was never more than sparring sessions and the occasional…date, so why is my heart aching?” Her voice came as a whisper, though she knew she had no reason to be so quiet. She was frowning as she played with the bracelet on her wrist, the bracelet Andy made her as a welcome into the gang. “Is it okay for me to…feel regret? It feels almost like…I used him, you know? And yeah, he’s a shitty person who did shitty things but…fuck, I don’t know sis.”
Luna smiled at her, that comforting, warm smile. “You regret the decisions the younger you made, Jinnie, that shows growth....” Owen approached the table with their meals already made, plated to perfection just for them. “Thanks, honey.” Luna met Owen half way for a peck on the lips. Sujin scrunched her nose in disgust.
“My bad, girls, I shouldn’t have interrupted you guys.” Owen smiled sheepishly, his hand resting on Luna’s shoulder. “I’ll leave you to it, you know where to find me!”
Sujin watched her sister. The love struck gaze as her husband walked back to the kitchen. Her heart ached. Instead, she rolled her eyes. “You guys are gross.”
Luna laughed. “I look forward to the day I get to say the same to you, Jin.”
