Work Text:
A blanket ruffles, the window creaks,
a kiss to the forehead, a sleepy squeak
Trainers adorned, a morning run,
Birds sing above as the day's just begun
Soon back home, the whistle of steam,
Hot drinks brew, add sugar and cream
A whisk in a bowl, with a scrape and a clatter,
Flour, eggs, milk, honey mixed into batter
The table is set with two mugs en route,
Two plates of pancakes, and fresh cut fruit
The bedroom door opens, a sleepy stumble,
A chair scrapes back with an adorable grumble
Breakfast is eaten, the dishes are cleaned,
More conversation as schedules are gleaned
Taps on a keyboard as chapters are edited,
Words in a stream as chatters are credited
Time spent apart, but still intertwined,
Sweet words and touches responded in kind
A hum made in thought, the taps of a shoe
A sip of some water, or tea made for two
Lunch ordered in, or made or reheated,
Fond words of love from morning repeated
Checks about plans for the upcoming eve,
When they have time, when they should leave
Work is resumed, one drawing one writing,
Reminders to hydrate, check posture and lighting
All work is saved, and backups are done,
Clothing is changed for a night out of fun
Dinner for two and a quiet night walk,
Whispered nothings in meaningless talk
Back home again, a kiss at the door,
Plans for tomorrow and weekends and more
The melody of words, the beat of their hearts
The song of their life, in all different parts
