Chapter 1: Little gray puppy

Chapter Text

Firefly didn't often visit Robin's apartment. That was understandable, given that the two were in a secret relationship, one that was quite scandalous at that.

Robin was a diva famous throughout the universe, while Firefly was a criminal wanted throughout the universe. And their work schedules were so busy, it was impossible to keep track of them all.

However, let's set aside those details and focus on the current issue. Today was a rare day when Firefly could come to Robin's apartment, spending a private evening just the two of them.

Robin had prepared a spare key for her, so Firefly could come and go freely.

And when she opened the door and stepped inside, there was a puppy. A gray puppy with soft, fluffy fur.

A series of questions ran through Firefly's mind. She crouched down in front of the door, carefully studying the pet in front of her. Strangely, it didn't seem wary of her at all, even though she was pretty sure this was their first meeting.

Even when Firefly tried to pick it up, it happily wagged its tail and barked loudly.

"You're here?" Robin stepped out of the bathroom, wearing only a bathrobe, one hand still using a towel to dry her hair.

"Miss Robin!" / "Woof!"

Both Firefly and the gray puppy turned toward Robin, their eyes brightening. Robin blinked in surprise, then burst into a giggle.

Firefly tilted her head in confusion, not understanding why Robin was laughing. The gray puppy, oblivious, just stared at his owner with shinning eyes.

"Have you befriended this little guy?" Robin walked over to Firefly and squatted down. She gently patted the puppy's head and asked.

"Befriended... not exactly..." Firefly hesitated to answer. She looked up at Robin. "I didn't know you had a dog. Aren't you too busy with work already?"

"Oh, I just picked it up on the side of the road. I've been too busy to even name it yet. But don't worry, I have hired someone to feed and take care of it." Robin replied. Her gaze fell on the puppy, then shifted to Firefly. She rested her chin on her hands, flashing a bright yet enigmatic smile. "As for this big puppy, I'll always take care of it myself."

After speaking, Robin giggled and reached out to stroke Firefly's head.

"B-Big puppy?" Firefly felt herself flush under Robin's touch. But more importantly, why did she compare her to a big puppy? She was literally a Stellaron hunter!

"...Don't you usually call me little bug?"

"Yes, you're both my little bug and my big puppy." Robin nodded.

"That doesn't make any sense, Miss Robin." Firefly whined softly.

"It's cute~." It was still that giggle that made Firefly's heart flutter and those warm eyes urged her to let go of all resistance.

Firefly sighed. She looked down at the small puppy still resting in her arms, at its gray fur. She unconsciously lifted a strand of hair to compare.

Don't tell me...

Firefly frowned at Robin, who just smiled at her. The little puppy between them gave an excited bark.

It seemed that tonight's private evening for the two of them would be livelier than Firefly had expected.
