Summary:

It was dark.

In other words, Breakdown has a nightmare.

Work Text:

It was dark.

No matter where Breakdown looked, it was just pitch black. Where was he? Did he go blind? He ran a self diagnostic. His optics still worked perfectly.

When he blinked, his red and black brother was lying in front of him. The lifeless and bloodied version. Breakdown couldn’t speak. He could hardly vent. A voice whispered in his audio receptor.

“This is your fault.”

It sounded like Wildrider, but it was a twisted version of his voice.

“Nonono…I didn’t..I- I tried to help!”

He panicked.

“You caused this.”

Dragstrip twistedly said from behind him.

He quickly turned around, seeing the lifeless body of Dragstrip who was missing an arm.

“No…I'm sorry…I-...”

“I couldn't take it anymore.”

Deadend's twisted voice said from beside him.

Breakdown turned to the right and his optics widened. Deadend's lifeless body was standing up, helmless. His helm was gone.

“I tried to help you…I tried…”

He sobbed.

“You're a disgrace.”

Motormaster's twisted voice made him gasp. He hesitantly turned around, the sight killing him on the inside.

Motormaster's lifeless body sitting up, with a hole going straight through his chassis. Through his spark.

“I tried my best!...I really did!”

He sobbed, holding his helm in his servos.

He felt something on his feet, something binding. He looked down in a panic to see black vines grabbing a hold of his feet, sliding around his ankles and tying up his legs.

“Nonono!”

He panicked, trying to get them off. He tried to run, but his feet stayed in place. The vines creeped up further, wrapping around his waist and chassis, then going for his arms.

He thrashed around, frantically trying to escape from the darkness. The vines pulled on his arms, making him fall to his knees. They pulled his arms behind his back.

“Help me! Please! Stop!”

The vines wrapped around his throat and covered his mouth. They tightened around him. His spark raced. He screamed and cried, only for his cries to be muffled. The vines kept tightening around him. He felt like he was being crushed.

They wouldn't let him go. He was so scared. The tears rolled down his cheeks. He couldn’t even free his mouth with his arms tied behind his back.

“Breakdown!”

He heard a voice, but he didn't know whose it was. But did it matter? He was going to die anyway.

“Wake up!”

He heard that voice again. Wake up from what? He was going to die here. He gave up, accepting his fate. The vines around his throat didn't let him vent. His throat closed up, being crushed. His optics closed as he accepted what was about to happen.

Breakdown woke up gasping, thrashing around in a panic. He felt arms around him.

“Let go of me!”

“Hey! it’s okay!”

Bee’s voice snapped Breakdown out of the panic he was in.

When he stopped thrashing, he saw Bee clearly. Bee was holding Breakdown in his arms.

“I-...I’m sorry.”

“It's okay…”

Bee said softly, rubbing his servo on the back of Breakdown’s helm.

When he checked his surroundings, he realized they were still in one of Bee's hidden abandoned warehouses. They were still on the run from ghost.

“Do you want to talk about it?”

Bee asked him.

Breakdown thought about it. Did he want to talk about it? Not really. But he wanted to talk with Bee. So maybe…he'll open up a bit.

“It was about my brothers…their dead bodies were telling me that it was all my fault. I cried and told them that I tried to help.”

Bee listened to Breakdown as he continued.

“Then the darkness tied me up, crushing me. I couldn’t move and I tried to yell for help. I was all alone. And then I think I was crushed to death.”

Bee held him a little tighter.

“It's alright now.”

“But it's not. They're still dead. They're still dead because of me.”

He struggled not to cry.

“It wasn't your fault…you did all that you could. They're safe in the Allspark.”

“Are you sure that we deserve it?”

Breakdown sadly asked.

“Deserve what?”

Bee asked, confused.

“To be in the Allspark.”

“Yes. You and your family deserve to be at peace in the Allspark. Primus will keep them safe.”

“...I hope so.”
