Chapter Text

Acromantula - a monsterous eight-eyed spider capable of human speech.

“I hate spiders.”

Taehyung looked up from the book he was reading and pouted. “What did they ever do to you?”

“For one, they’re creepy,” Jimin said, brushing off something from his robes, “and two, they keep crawling into my clothes.”

“You can’t hate someone just because they’re creepy.”

“Yeah but spiders make webs.” Jimin shivered in disgust at the last word.

“Well I like them. I think they’re adorable.”

“You like anything that breathes. And why are you defending them like they actually have feelings.”

“Spiders do have feelings. There are even those who you can communicate with. They’re big, like HUGE, and can lay a hundred eggs at once and---”

“Okay I get it, Newt Scamander.”

Taehyung blinked. “That’s...I have nothing to say to that. That was actually the biggest compliment you’ve ever given me.”

Just then a loud crash echoed through the main hall and all heads turned to the Slytherin table where a group of them was laughing at a first year soaked in tonight’s soup. One of them caught Taehyung’s eyes. He had slick black hair with bangs gelled to a curve and a small dimple peeking out as he gave him a wicked smile. Taehyung instantly looked away to hide the blooming blush on his cheeks.

Jimin noticed. His eyes grew wide. “No. Absolutely not. Not Jeon Jeongkook. I would prefer you dating a huge ass spider than that insufferable snake. Just no.”

Taehyung looked up with stars in his eyes. “You know him?”

“I said no, Tae.”

Chapter Text

Billywig - an insect with wings attached to the top of its head that would rotate fast so that it spins when it flies.

“You want some?”

Taehyung stopped writing his assignment and saw a hand full of sweets when his head turned. He followed the arm all the way to the body connected to it and almost choked on air when he saw who it was.

Jeon Jeongkook.

“Uh what?” He asked unintelligently.

“You look like you’re about to pass out so I thought maybe a bit of sugar could wake you up.”

“That’s...nice of you. Thank you.”

One of the Slytherin’s brow rose up as he saw how Taehyung avoided a particular candy. “Not a fan of Fizzing Whizzbees?”

“It’s...complicated. I don’t hate it. I just don’t eat it. Fizzing Whizzbees have dried Billywig stings as a component.”

“Really?” Jeongkook’s nose wrinkled but his smile remained intact.

Taehyung forced his eyes away from the boy’s lips. “Yeah...Billywig stings can make you levitate as well.”

“Levitate, huh?” To the Hufflepuff’s surprise, Jungkook took a seat across from him, leaning forward with his elbows on the table. Were they even allowed to sit on other house’s tables? Taehyung stopped worrying when his eyes focused back to the other’s dimple. “Tell me more.”

Jimin’s going to kill me, Taehyung thought as he smiled back.

Chapter Text

Clabbert - a tree-dwelling creature that has a large putsule on its forehead that lights up when it senses danger.

“Your eyes are really pretty.”

Jungkook was both surprised and confused at the compliment. “Thank you?” He said like he was asking if it was the right reply.

He inhaled when suddenly Taehyung was all up in his space, face so close that if he moved, their noses would probably touch. But Taehyung wasn’t looking at his nose, he was staring rather deeply at his eyes. If it were anyone else, Jungkook would think he was going to kiss him. But this was Taehyung. Sweet, innocent Kim Taehyung.

“They’re really shiny,” he continued, “and sparkly. Like tons of Clabberts gathered in your pupils.”

Only because I’m looking at you, Jungkook thought but instead asked, “Clabberts?”

“You know, those tree creatures that look like a cross between a monkey and a frog.”

No, Jungkook does not know but he was too distracted by the puffs of air coming out from Taehyung’s mouth for any further explanation. “So...is that good?”

The Hufflepuff grinned and nodded. “Clabberts are pretty, too. Especially at night. Your eyes must look beautiful during the evening.”

For a second, Jungkook was at a loss for words. Then snapped back to reality, to the grass they were sitting on, and leaned forward making Taehyung go back with a terrified expression. He smirked. “You want to wait out here to find out?”

Dragon - you know. You have to. It’s dragons.

“Hey,” Jungkook nudged Taehyung’s head on his shoulder, making it almost fall off, “if you could choose only one magical creature for a pet, just one, what would it be?”

“Why? Are you planning to get it for me?”

“Depends. If it’s an owl, I’ll get you 10. If it’s a toad, maybe 20.”

Taehyung snuggled closer to the other’s neck, hiding his smile. “A dragon.”

A pause. “Wow. I was expecting some exotic hardly-known beast for you to elaborate. I’m kind of underwhelmed now.”

His shoulder shook as the Hufflepuff muffled his giggles on his robe. “As much as all creatures are beautiful and endlessly fascinating, nothing can compare to dragons. The first thing on my bucket list is to see an actual live one. Dragons are where all the love for magical creatures started. When I was a kid, whenever I felt down or like I’ve failed my parents, I would imagine a dragon taking me away and we’d be flying through the skies for years until I die. And I knew, if it were to happen, I would be the happiest I’ve ever been.”

Jungkook looked down at their intertwined hands and brought the tan one to his lips. “So is five dragons enough? I think that’s enough.”

Chapter Text

Erkling - and elfish creature with a pointed face and a high-pitched cackle.

"You didn't have to do that."

Jeongkook's head snapped up and glared at him as if saying not this again. "He tripped you, Tae."

"Doesn't mean you bloody punch him, you Wing Chun moron."

"Yes it does. Those things he said..." Jeongkook's hand tightened its hold on Taehyung's, "you should never have to hear those fucking words from an A-class asshole. Or from anyone for that matter."

The Hufflepuff sighed and gently pressed their foreheads together. "It's fine, Kookie. I don't care what that Erkling said. I...I'm used to it."

The furious fire building up in Jeongkook's eyes just blew up. "Fuck. Why didn't you tell me? I used to hang out with that guy and--fuck. I'm sorry. Shit."

Taehyung bit his lip to stop it from wobbling. He hated when Jeongkook swore. Especially when he was mad. "Don't be sorry to me. And I already told you, I don't care what you've done in the past. Just...be here with me. In the present. Now."

The grip between their hands loosened and the glare on the Slytherin's face became less deadly. He closed his eyes and slid his head so that it rested on Taehyung's chest. It was warm. And if he held his breath, he could feel the beats of the other's chest. His heart. Taehyung's gigantic, dragon-sized heart. He didn't want to keep it, he wanted to protect it. Because he swore to all the stars and the moon that if anyone broke it, they would not live to see the day. This including himself.

"Jeongkookie," Taehyung said, voice small and cautious, "are...are you with me? Now?"

Jeongkook raised his head to look directly at the boy in front of him and smiled. "Always."

Fwooper - an African bird with an enjoyable voice that could drive a person, magical and non-magical, insane once listened to for too long.

"This magical ear is kind of disgusting. It's ruining my romantic vibes."

Taehyung scoffed towards his own magical ear, sound all the way from the Hufflepuff common room and travelling to the other side of the Slytherin common room. "What romantic vibes? You gave me a sock on our first monthsary."

"I was being sarcastic. Who the hell has monthsaries? It's sad to me. Don't you think we would last at least a year?"

"Sure. At least." Taehyung giggled knowing Jeongkook was probably scowling at the ear on his hand. "I'm kidding. As far as I know, you're stuck with me, Jeon. Tied together like the string connecting these ugly magic ears."

"Let's just use cups next time like how muggles do it. I'd prefer talking to a cup than a hairy ear."

Taehyung giggled harder and tried to muffle it under his pillow, afraid to wake Jimin and the others up.

A silent moment passed with just the two listening to the other breathe. Finally, Taehyung said, "Kookie...can you sing me to sleep, again? I just...I really want to hear your voice."

He couldn't see it, but he knew Jeongkook was smirking. That brat. "Sure, love."

From another part of the castle, Jeongkook's voice echoed to their room and filled the night with his song. Taehyung loved his voice. Every time he sang, it felt like a Fwooper trap, luring him in to listen to its song forever. And Taehyung wouldn't even mind. Not one bit.

Gnome - a short common garden pest.

"Okay."

Jeongkook's eyebrows shot right up past his fringe. "Okay?"

"Yeah," Yoongi grunted, he always grunts, "Okay."

"It...it doesn't bother you?"

"If you're calling me some homophobic asshat you're fucking wrong--"

"No, I know! I just meant...Well. Taehyung's not really in our house and I just--I thought that would bother you." Jeongkook ruffled his hair, a habit the elder knew he does when worried. But the raven-haired boy was never this agitated about something. It was a sight to see him acting his actual age for once.

Yoongi exhaled through his nose, loosening the tightness of his voice to at least ease the boy. "Kid, seriously, have I ever been a stuck-up royalty snake? Who gives a fuck if you're dating a Hufflepuff?"

"So...you're not bothered by it. Like, at all."

"To be honest I'm more bothered you didn't tell me. And that I didn't notice. I was pretty sure I got you under my nose since year one."

"I'm taller than you now, though."

"Don't push it, kid."

Jeongkook smirked. There's the little brat he knew. "Do you want to meet him? I mean--he definitely wants to meet you. It's the whole reason I told you everything."

Yoongi shrugged then went back to the goblet he was trying to turn back into a ferret. "Sure. Whatever."

"Great!" Jeongkook said, wanting to give the other a hug but remembered they don't do stuff like that. Taehyung was really taking a toll on him.

Before walking out to tell Taehyung the good news, he rushed back over and said, "By the way, if he says you resemble any sort of magical beast, please understand that he's trying to compliment you."

Yoongi glared at him. "Fine. But if he fucking calls me something like a gnome it's you I'll be turning into a ferret."

Chapter Text

Horklump - resembles a fleshy, pinkish mushroom covered in sparse, wiry black bristles.

Jeongkook's lips look really soft up close. His bottom lip is fuller than the top but still overall squishy and pink. It reminds him a lot of Horklumps. Although, now was probably not the time to be thinking of spiky fungi when Jeongkook is leaning in closer than he normally would. That meant...

"Tae. Can I kiss you?"

Taehyung's brain just melted to mush at his words and all he could let out was, "Uh."

Jeongkook's face, his lips were coming closer and it felt like that scene from Jaws where the shark was about to attack. Closer. Taehyung couldn't breathe, but he couldn't back away now like he's done so many times because this was bound to happen. They can't just hold hands forever, although Taehyung wished they could because this was getting scary and Jeongkook's so close now that their noses are brushing and he could feel his warm breath and--

"Horklump!"

Jeongkook immediately backed away with shock all over his face from the other's outburst.

Taehyung brought both shaky hands up in front of his face like a shield and started mumbling. "Horklumps are prodigious breeders and could cover an entire average garden in a matter of days."

"Tae..."

"They also originated from Scandinavia but is now widespread--"

"Taehyung."

"Gnomes like eating them as well and--"

"Taehyung."

Said boy peeked behind his hands and saw the Slytherin's eyes looking worried. Guilty. He hated that. This was not his fault. He had nothing to do with it. Taehyung was just...just. He doesn't deserve this. He doesn't deserve him. God, he knew this was all too good be true. He can't even be normal for just one second to kiss his boyfriend.

He had not realized he was already crying until he felt Jeongkook wipe away his tears with his warm hands. Hands he wished he wouldn't have to ever let go. Taehyung held on to the other's wrists like a lifeline.

"I'm s-sorry." Please don't go. Don't leave me. Please.

Jeongkook just continued rubbing his cheeks with his thumbs, catching each tear. He craned his neck to place a short kiss on the the Hufflepuff's forehead. It's okay. Stop crying. Don't let go. Don't push me away.

Once Taehyung's sobs calmed down, he curled up on Jeongkook's lap and lay his head against the other's chest.

"So," Jeongkook said, "If Gnomes eat Horklumps, what do Horklumps eat?"

Taehyung sniffed and hid his smile under the green and silver tie.

Chapter Text

Imp - similar to a pixie but it cannot fly. It has a slapstick type of humor.

"Did you guys break up?"

Taehyung almost spat out his pumpkin juice and coughed a couple of times before answering. "No! What made you say that?"

Jimin just shrugged. "I don't know. It's just I don't really see you guys together that often. I thought maybe you guys were drifting apart or something."

"You mean you 'hoped' we were."

"I didn't say that. Although it would add ten more years to my lifespan if you guys did break up. This whole thing is stressing me out."

Taehyung rolled his eyes. "For the last time, Chimchim, we're fine. You can stop worrying about me and my relationship with so-called Mr.Troublemaker. Who by the way was nice enough to walk me to class yesterday."

"Ooh, what a saint." Jimin drawled sarcastically. He ducked to avoid the chunk of cookie thrown his way. "I'm kidding! But seriously, I barely even see him. Either he's scared of me or he has a big dark secret he doesn't want you to know. Like maybe he's a vampire and can't get close to you or he'll lose it and suck your blood."

Taehyung stiffened. "How did you find out?"

"Oh har har."

"Trust me," Taehyung said, wiping the table from the mess he had made, "my boyfriend is not going to suck my blood. He's as harmless as an Imp."

"Did you just call me small?" Jeongkook appeared out of nowhere and sat down beside him on the bench, swinging his arm around Taehyung.

Jimin eyed his arm in obvious distaste. "Speak of the devil and he shall come."

Chapter Text

Jarvey - it resembles an overgrown ferret and has the ability to talk.

Jeongkook ruffled his hair before approaching the Hufflepuff under the tree where they usually meet. As he went closer, his heart cracked at seeing how the boy was shivering.

He plopped down beside him and spoke in the softest voice that he could muster. "I'm sorry."

Taehyung used the sleeve of his robes to wipe away the snot that was pouring down his nose. "I'm sorry, too."

Jeongkook sighed and carefully placed his head against the other's shoulder, glad to find that it stopped shaking. "You shouldn't be. I was way out of line."

"I said some pretty mean things to you. I was like a Jarvey on a roll."

He's talking about beasts. That's good. That means he's not mad anymore. Right? "A Jarvey, Tae?"

Taehyung sniffed and his eyes fell to his hands that were fumbling with the edges of his pants. "Jarveys can be really rude. But they have a lot of wit which make them just as fascinating as the rest. I...I sometimes wish I could be that witty. That interesting." Like that girl you were laughing with earlier that started all this mess.

Jeongkook furrowed his eyebrows, getting what the Hufflepuff was trying to say. He took one of the boy's hands and pressed a chaste kiss against his palm. "You fascinate me more than anything else in this world, Kim Taehyung."

Chapter Text

Kneazle - a cat-like creature that has an ability to guide its owner safely back home.

Any time Taehyung had a crazy idea, which was all the time if he was being honest, Jeongkook would always be there to keep him grounded.

Like that one time he wanted to sneak out of the school and into the Forbidden Forest to look for unicorns. Jeongkook asked Jimin earlier on to not let him out of their room.

Or that other time after a Quidditch match, Taehyung kept asking him about the bludger. Turns out he was deciding if he could have one as a pet. He carried the Hufflepuff away when he asked his team captain if he could name the school's bludgers.

There was also an instance where they were talking about what to give their friends for Christmas and Taehyung wanted to give Yoongi a real-live snake. Jeongkook didn't have to do anything with this, Yoongi spoke (or cursed to be more specific) for himself.

And of course all the times he would visit Hagrid's hut and would always want to stay the entire night. Jeongkook always had to carry him out of the giant's home or else he'd probably stay there forever.

The sun had already set and they probably had less than ten minutes before they had to be back in their common rooms, but Jeongkook wasn't rushing. He walked slowly through the grass with Taehyung on his back. He shifted a bit when the other started slipping. He could feel the puffs of air on the back of his neck and thought that the boy had already fallen asleep.

Then he felt the arms around his neck tighten. "Jeongkook-ah."

"Yes, Tae?"

"You're my Kneazle."

Jeongkook couldn't stop smiling when he found out what that was.

Chapter Text

Lethifold - (also known as Living Shroud) it resembles a black cloak which glides along the ground at night. It generally attacks its victims while they are asleep.

"How could you eat so much crap and still be this skinny. I feel like your bones will crack every time you reach over for the chicken."

Taehyung grinned through the mashed potato on his mouth. "Genes. My older brother Seokjin is like that, so is my mom too."

Jeongkook rolled his eyes. "How unfair the world is."

"You should eat more, Kookie. My grandma always told me that a round belly is a happy belly." He reached over to fondly tap the Slytherin's tummy.

"The only thing I'd like to add more to my body is height." Jeongkook said, taking Taehyung's hand and slotting their fingers together. "My robes still touch the ground it's ridiculous. I would probably look like a Lethifold if I put my hood up."

Suddenly the chicken leg on Taehyung's hand stopped mid-air to his mouth and his eyes go comically big.

Jeongkook held his hands up in defense, afraid he said something wrong. "What?"

Taehyung pointed at him with the chicken. "You...you said Lethifold."

Then Jeongkook got it. He shrugged. "Huh. Guess I did. Your beast encyclopedia facts are rubbing off on me."

"You...wow. I'm, like, really attracted to you right now."

Jeongkook smirked. "More than usual?"

The tip of Taehyung's ears turned pink. The Slytherin chuckled and leaned over to nip at one of them.

Yoongi slammed a book on both their heads. "No PDA. I'm trying to read here."

Mooncalf - an intensely shy creature that emerges only at the full moon

"Hey, did you know that Mooncalves' prelude to mating includes complicated dances under the moonlight and are said to--Jeongkookie, are you listening?"

Jeongkook turned his head placed on Taehyung's lap as to also snuggle against his stomach. He sighed at the smell of vanilla, mothballs, and something else that's just uniquely Taehyung. "Yeah, m'listening."

"Okay, well apparently their dancing often leaves intricate geometric patterns behind that could confuse any muggle if seen. Its said that these are also believed to be a prelude to mating. How freaky, having mating equivalent to dancing, teenagers wouldn't stand a chance--Jeon Jeongkook are you sleeping while I'm literally talking to you?"

Jeongkook hid his face further against the boy's sweater. "Maybe."

Taehyung just huffed in defeat and ran his hand soothingly across the raven black hair. Jeongkook peeked an eye out and Taehyung hated how he already felt so lightheaded just seeing a quarter of the boy's smirk and dimple. He's about to set his book aside to fully put his attention to lull the Slytherin back to sleep until a hand grabbed his wrist. He looked down in confusion.

"Keep reading," Jeongkook mumbled, already half-asleep, "I like when you talk...and your voice...and just hearing you in general."

The Hufflepuff rolled his eyes and was glad the other couldn't see his ears turn red. He went back to his previous page and cleared his throat then felt silly for doing so right after. "Watching Mooncalves dance by moonlight is a fascinating experience and often profitable, for if their silvery dung is collected right after the sun rises and spread upon flower beds, the plants will grow very fast and become really strong..." He trailed off when he heard a small snore from Jeongkook. He finally puts the book down and smiles fondly at the now-asleep boy on his lap.

Jeongkook's lips were already slightly open and he could feel little puffs of air coming out against his stomach through his yellow sweater. Without thinking, he never does when he's around the Slytherin, Taehyung craned his neck down slowly and planned to place a short kiss on the boy's cheek but ended up missing and pecked his ear instead. He giggled at his own mistake and could feel his cheeks heat up. Then he flashed back to all the other times Jeongkook tried to be his first kiss and cursed at himself because right now, that seemed like a really good idea. He rubbed his thumb against the sleeping boy's cheek. "If you asked again if you could kiss me...I would have said yes now." He whispered mostly to himself.

He was about to back away when suddenly Jeongkook's hand got hold of the back of his neck and turned his head to look straight at him, clearly awake now. He was looking so intently at him and his eyes seemed darker than usual. Before he could ask what was wrong, Jeongkook dragged him down further and Taehyung inhaled when their lips touched.

Jeongkook was kissing him. He was being kissed.

When he finally snapped out of his daze, Taehyung closed his eyes and breathed through his nose to relax because wow okay this was really nice why did I ever think this was terrifying wait is that his tongue okay red alert THAT is scary waIT.

Taehyung was the first to break away from the kiss and his hands instantly flew up to his face. Jeongkook sat up with soft hands taking the Hufflepuff's wrists and pulled them down so that he could once again see his boyfriend's face. His brows were furrowed like he was worried he did something wrong and Taehyung hated that. So he took a very deep breath and managed to muster a smile. "Next time...warn me if you're going to bloody lick my lips."

Jeongkook chuckled and kissed one of his wrists. "Gotcha."

Chapter Text

Niffler - a burrowing British beast.

*****

"Jimin is pretty scary."

"What? No he's not. He's like the most adorable human bean you could ever meet."

"On the outside maybe."

"Ok, what is this all about, Kookie? Was he glaring at you again? You know he's just being protective over me."

"Doesn't change the fact that he's deadly."

"You're sounding like he's some sort of Niffler."

"Isn't that another term for a drug-dealer?"

"No. What the hell. A Niffler is a gentle and affectionate creature but once you mess with it it can be very dangerous and violent."

"Huh...no that's not what I'm saying. Park Jimin was never and shall never be gentle with me if I've got you under my arm."

"Who says I'm the one under the arm? Pretty sure it's my arm you're under."

"Are you saying I'm whipped, Kim Taehyung?"

"I'm saying Jimin shouldn't hate you. And you shouldn't hate him either."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"...but yeah, you're completed whipped."

Chapter Text

Occamy - a two-legged winged creature with a serpentine body.

"How can you prefer dogs over cats? How do you even choose?"

Jeongkook rolled his eyes and reached out his letter for his owl to deliver back to his parents. Who, if you must know, absolutely hate cats, and thus began their argument. "I think you're the only who actually likes both." Taehyung held on to the Slytherin's arm as they descended down the icy stairs of the owl tower. "And like, cats eat rats. That's disgusting."

"Your owl eats rats!"

The Hufflepuff almost slipped but thankfully Jeongkook wrapped his arm around his waste just in time to balance him. "Careful! And stop talking about rats."

"An Occamy eats rats." Taehyung said, choosing to just wrap both his arms around him and they continue to waddle down the stairs like that.

Jeongkook wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Are you done?"

"...they eat birds, too."

"Why do I date you again?"

Taehyung nuzzled his nose behind Jeongkook's neck as they continued to walk attached. "Who else will hold on to you while you walk?"

Chapter Text

Puffskein - a docile creature that has no objection to being cuddled or thrown about.

"Ohmygod."

Jeongkook winced. "Merry Christmas?"

"Ohmygod." Taehyung held the box closer to his chest and bent his neck downwards, causing the soft fur to brush his nose.

"Uhh...Tae?"

Taehyung's head snapped up back to the raven haired boy in front of him, his eyes shiny. "A Puffskein."

"Yeah. I got you a Puffskein. Couldn't really afford or even get a dragon egg so...do you like it?" Jeongkook asked unsure, not able to read the other's reaction.

Suddenly the Slytherin is tackled into a hug with the box squished in between them, making the small Puffskein squeak inside. "OhmygodyougotmeaPuffskeinohmygodIloveitohmygod."

Jeongkook chuckled and ran his hand through Taehyung's hair. "Really? You like him?"

"I love him! I love your gift! I love you did this for me! I love Christmas! I love you! I--" Taehyung paused and backed away with wide eyes after realizing what he just said. The tips of his ears turned a bright pink. "I uh...I-I-I--"

Jeongkook's mouth formed into a crooked smile, his little dimple appearing on his cheek. He leaned against the box between them and ghosted his lips on Taehyung's.

"I love you, too, Taehyung Scamander."

Chapter Text

Quintaped - a highly dangerous carnivorous beast with a particular taste for humans.

"Pretty sure Hufflepuffs are supposed to be seated with their fellow housemates."

Jeongkook rolled his eyes and turned his head to look at the tall Ravenclaw Prefect. "Sod off, Namjoo--"

Taehyung slapped his shoulder hard. "Jeongkook! Don't be rude! Sorry, Namjoon, I'll make sure to go back to my place once the Headmistress starts her speech."

The taller just shrugged and handed out a pink envelope. "Don't worry about it, Tae. By the way, your brother wanted me to give you this. Guess he decided letting his owl fly once would be more convenient."

"Thanks, Namjoon! See you!"

Jeongkook glared at the Ravenclaw as he walked away. He went back to Taehyung who was eyeing his pink letter worriedly. "How do you know Namjoon?"

"Huh? Oh! He's kinda sorta dating my brother, Seokjin. Who, by the way, already sent me a letter yesterday so I don't see why he sent a new one..."

Jeongkook peered down at the envelope. "Open it."

Just as Taehyung flipped the envelope flap, a loud booming voice echoed throughout the hall. "KIM TAEHYUNG!!!"

The envelop formed into a mouth and it certainly wasn't smiling. Taehyung gulped. "Oh no..."

"KIM FREAKING TAEHYUNG. DID I RAISE YOU THIS WAY? TO KEEP SECRETS FROM ME? DID I?! I TOLD YOU TO TELL ME EVERYTHING AND HERE NAMJOON GOES TALKING ABOUT A BOYFRIEND AND HOW HE'S A NO GOOD TROUBLEMAKER. The flustered Hufflepuff quickly rumpled the talking paper and hid it under his robes, his face a glowing hue of red. Everyone has got their eyes on him and after a moment everyone has got their heads bowed trying to stop their laughter.

He heard a snort beside him and glowered when he found it was Jeongkook. The Slytherin coughed, his eyes full of mirth. "Your brother seems very lovely."

Re'em - an extremely large and dangerous oxen with golden hides.

"What's wrong?"

Taehyung let out such a loud sob that Jeongkook's heart lurched horribly at the sound. He brought the boy closer to his chest and pressed his lips on the top of his head.

"Okay you don't have to tell me. Just please, stop crying."

The Hufflepuff only shook his head and stuck his face closer to Jeongkook's white shirt, hoping he doesn't ruin it. His shoulders kept shaking from how hard he was trying to stop his tears and his hands were starting to burn from how hard he was holding on to the other's robes. A new wave of pain crashed inside his chest and now the tears wouldn't stop. It was like a Re'em was slashing his insides just like how the names he was called slashed through him. Weirdo. Pathetic. Freak. The voices still echoed through his head and right now he just really wanted to hear Jeongkook's voice.

Then he tried to remember all the other stuff Jeongkook would call him. Precious. Love. Babe. But his most favorite one of all would be...

"Sunshine," suddenly his head was being forced to look at dark brown eyes with hands cupping his tear-stained cheeks, "stop crying."

Snidget - an extremely rare and protected species of bird.

"Did you know that the Golden Snitch was created to prevent the extinction of the Snigdet which was what they used to originally chase during Quidditch?"

"That's really interesting, Tae, but tell me how that's supposed to make me feel better over losing our match?"

Taehyung looked up from poking Jeongkook's broom. "Oh. Sorry. Was I supposed to be comforting you?"

Jeongkook swung his broom to his other shoulder with a scowl. "Forget it."

"Taehyungie!"

Both heads snap up at the call and Jeongkook's scowl deepened when he saw it Jung Hoseok, Hufflepuff's Seeker. It didn't help dampen his mood when said guy carried Taehyung off his feet and spun him around. They were laughing when he finally, finally, put him down. Jeongkook was the only one not laughing, his vision full of green.

"Congrats on catching the snitch, Hoseokie!"

Hoseok ruffled his hair. "Thanks, Taehyungie. Was a bit of a close call if you ask Jeon over here."

Jeongkook just huffed and looked away.

The Hufflepuff Seeker sensed the tension so he gave one last big smile to Taehyung. "Well, gotta get back to the team. See you around, kid. And uh you too, Jeon."

Taehyung enthusiastically waved the boy goodbye, unknowing of the pouting Slytherin right beside him. Then he turned to Jeongkook with a disappointed look. "Must you always be rude to my friends?"

"If they call you Taehyungie and beat me at Quidditch then yes you bet your ass I will."

The Hufflepuff smirked. "Jelly."

"Am not."

"You are sooo jelly."

"Am soooooo not."

Suddenly Jeongkook's cheeks were being squished and he was sure he looked like a fish. But it didn't bother him when Taehyung leaned closer and pecked his puffed out lips.

"It's okay, Kookie," he said, "in the future I'll catch a big Golden Snidget just for you so that you'll never feel bad over Hoseok beating you ever again. Ever ever."

"But he didn't beat me."

"Huh?"

Jeongkook escaped from his hands and moved to place a short kiss right on his nose freckle. "I got you first, didn't I?"

Chapter Text

Troll - a fearsome creature up to twelve feet tall and weighing over a tonne.

"Jeon." Jimin said, with his hip jutted out and arms crossed.

"Park." Jeongkook replied, eyeing the other with distaste.

After that the two just remained quiet outside the Hufflepuff common room, waiting for their only link to each other in the form of Kim Taehyung.

Finally, when it seemed like they were going to go at each other's throats at how tense they both were, the lanky Hufflepuff shuffled out from behind the painting. He hopped over first to Jeongkook to place a noisy peck to the boy's cheek then threw his arms all over his best best friend.

He noticed his friend's obvious disgruntled face. "Why do you look like you've just seen a Troll?"

Jimin glared at Jeongkook over his shoulder. "I have."

Taehyung caught on what the other was trying to say and sighed. "Will you two never get along?"

Jeongkook raised his hands in defense. "Don't look at me, he's the one who's always got a wand up his ass."

"At least I know how to properly use a wand!"

"Wow good for you! Five hundred points to Hufflepuff!"

Taehyung tightened his hold around his fuming friend to keep him from punching the face he loves. "Maybe next time Jimin and I should just wait outside Slytherin's common room. That way I don't leave you two alone."

Suddenly, to Jeongkook's confusion, Jimin blushed. "I'm not waiting out there!"

Taehyung smirked. "Why not? We might even bump into your hubby Min Yoong---"

Before he could finish, Jimin slapped a hand to his mouth.

Jeongkook was sure his jaw just dropped to the ground. "Yoongi? Hubby? What? The fuck?"

Unicorn - a magical pure white, horned horse.

Jeongkook smiled warmly at the Puffskein snuggling his green sweater. He turned his head to look at the just as fluffy boy sleeping on his shoulder. He didn't know which cuddle buddy he loved the most, Soonshim or Taehyung.

Soonshim's fur shivered as it rubbed its face against Jeongkook's tummy. Taehyung's nose wrinkled and at the sudden movement and lifted his head to nuzzle the Slytherin's neck. He sighed when Jeongkook started playing with the collar of his Unicorn pajamas with the one arm wrapped around him.

He decided.

Jeongkook rubbed his thumb over Soonshim's fur and leaned his head closer to Taehyung's ear.

"I love you both."

Valentine's Day - a day to celebrate love...and a bunch of flowers.

Jeongkook hated Valentine's Day.

And it's not because he's some loner-single-guy with nobody but because it's the one day where the entire school population thinks they got a free pass for harassing their so-called "love of their lives". That only meant one thing...love potions.

Jeongkook wasn't one to brag but he's had a share of people he had rejected and cleared out how he has no returning feeling for them whatsoever. He just wasn't like that. Love was a waste of time and effort, both which he could just put all-out on Quidditch. But these people he's rejected think he's just too shy to confess his feelings and think a petty potion is going to solve all of that.

But from years of experience, and embarrassing moments with Yoongi where the elder had to literally tie him up to a couch so that he won't go out and find his love, Jeongkook knew it was best to just not accept any gifts, flowers, food, nor drinks. Especially drinks.

But of all persistent creatures out there, the most persistent would be girls.

That's why here he was, running for his dear bachelor life to find anyone to be with him so that the girls would at least have some decency for chasing a guy.

His heart gave out a relieved flip when he finally saw Yoongi.

"Oh hey, Jeongkook." Yoongi said with a bored drawl.

Jeongkook just heaved out a big gasp in answer and slouched on the seat beside his senior.

"Say, did you leave out this box of jellybeans for me as a fucking joke? You know how I hate not knowing the flavor--"

"I *gasp* did *choke* not."

Yoongi blinked. "Oh. Well. I just assumed since it said 'love from J'. Who the fuck else would it be, I don't know any more J's."

When Jeongkook finally managed to catch his breath he sat up straight and looked behind him to see, in absolute glee, how the wolf pack have left him and his friend in peace. He ruffled his hair. "Man, I hate this fucking day so much."

Yoongi frowned. "Language."

"I swear, Yoongi, the day I fall inlove with someone please just do me a favor and slice my throat because I probably lost my mind if that does happen."

Yoongi popped a pink jellybean to his mouth. "You don't mean that."

Suddenly a pink rose appeared in front of them. Jeongkook looked behind him to see some lanky guy with probably the softest brown hair he has ever seen running away and stumbling due to his long robes. His breath got caught in throat once again when the boy looked behind him for a quick moment to check if he had succeeded in giving the flower and damn, those are the prettiest fucking eyes Jeongkook has ever seen in all his years in Hogwarts.

He eyed the rose with Yoongi's name in envy. "Who was that?"

Yoongi rose his brow at him. "I don't know. Some guy doing his friend a favor or something. I guess the flower thing was a last minute along with the jellybeans. These are some good shit by the way, you want some?"

Jeongkook didn't hear the rest of his friend's words. His head was filled with the rushing boy's shining brown orbs.

*Three Years Later*

"If you guys keep snogging like that, I'm going to fucking take your word years ago and slice your throat. Both of you."

Taehyung giggled through their kiss and broke free, in Yoongi's relief.

Jeongkook scoffed and nuzzled his nose into the juncture between his Valentine's neck and shoulder. "Fuck off, Yoongi."

Winged Horse - a horse with wings. (no kidding).

"So it's a Pegasus."

Taehyung rubbed his eyes in frustration. Jeongkook smirked at how adorable he looked. "No, it's not a Pegasus. It's a Winged Horse."

"So what does it look like?" He asked as his fingers flittered with the Hufflepuff's shirt collar, loving how each area of skin he brushes past flush pink.

"What do you mean what does it look like, it looks like a horse with wings!"

"Exactly. A Pegasus."

Taehyung slapped his hand away and glared at the stubborn boy. "Listen, you child, there's a huge difference betwe--mmph!"

He didn't get to finish due to the sudden soft, pink mouth that attacked his own. He had a half-mind to push the Slytherin away until he moved his jaw in that way that made Taehyung's entire brain turn to goo. So closed his eyes and sighed into the (unfair) kiss and tilted his head. Then he decided to try moving his own jaw, caressing the other's bottom lip along with its own movements. When Jeongkook slightly nipped back, he whimpered and pulled away; trying to calm himself down even with the sight of the other's now swollen lips.

Jeongkook, the little shit, smirked with that cursed dimple. "You're adorable when you want to be right."

Taehyung scoffed. "I'm always right."

"Sure, babe."

"It's not that bad."

Taehyung poked his arm cast which made him groan out loud. "Sure it isn't, you big reckless dumbo."

"It's Quidditch, sunshine, it's my job to be reckless."

"So is it also your job to freaking fall off your broom and almost kill yourself?"

Jeongkook chuckled nervously but immediately stopped when one of his broken ribs started to ache horribly again.

The Hufflepuff hurriedly reached for the ice pack beside the bed and placed it gently on the other's torso, despite his clear annoyance and want to smack him upside his pretty head.

Jeongkook placed his own hand on top of his and gave him a forced smile. "At least we won, right?"

Taehyung scoffed. "If only I had an x-ray to show you how terrible your body condition is right now and how extremely idiotic you sound."

"If I had an x-ray, I would look at other things." Jeongkook smirked and wiggled his eyebrows.

Taehyung's entire face turned beet red and he looked away to maintain his serious persona. "Shut up, you Troll."

The Slytherin chuckled, careful not move his stomach, and reached out his uninjured hand to turn Taehyung's face back to him. Then with a slight groan, he raised both arms so that he could place his two index fingers on each edge of the boy's mouth and pulled them upwards for a goofy smile. "There's the smile I love." He said with a soft smile then he leaned forward, ignoring the searing pain on his left rib, and placed a chaste kiss right on the freckle on the tip of Taehyung's nose.

The Hufflepuff sighed and let their foreheads touch, Jeongkook's sweaty fringe clashing with his soft brown one. "I was really worried...and scared."

"I know."

"When I watched you falling down...I-I really thought you were going to die then I would have just sat there and watched while y-you-while you--God--"

Jeongkook silenced him with a press of their lips. Then another on his cheek. Then his eyelids. Then his forehead, which lasted longer than the rest. "I'm sorry. I'm fine. I'm so sorry."

Taehyung clutched both of his wrists and sighed deeply, like he was the one with his ribs broken. "Don't be sorry. It wasn't your fault. Freaking gravity."

Jeongkook smiled. "Yeah," he mumbled as he gave one of knuckles a kiss, "fuck gravity."

Chapter Text

Yeti - believed to be similar to a troll although no one has gotten close enough to study it.

“Hey,” Taehyung began, breath hitting the back of Jungkook’s neck, “do you think if Hagrid got really really reaaally old, all his hair- beard included -would turn pure white like Santa Clause or a Yeti?”

Jeongkook huffed when he almost tripped on a rock, causing both of them to jostle a bit. He hopped Taehyung higher on his back and hoped he doesn’t sweat between the other’s arms like last time. “Why didn’t you just ask him, we were literally with him five minutes ago.”

“I thought it would be rude to ask!”

“You know,” Jeongkook paused to kick away another rock in the way, “when we board the train back home tomorrow, I’m pretty sure you’re going to miss Hagrid more than me.”

“Don’t be silly...of course I’ll miss him more than you.”

When Jeongkook dropped him to the ground, he was too busy laughing to care about his now sore bottom. His laughter died away when suddenly the Slytherin’s arms caged him in between, his hands on each side of his hips and his face not farther than an inch. “So,” Jeongkook smirked, knowing he’s got the badger trapped, “you’re not going to miss me?”

Taehyung turned to look away from the other’s lips. “N-no.”

His breath cut short when Jeongkook placed a soft kiss on his cheek. “Not even that?”

“Nope.”

Jeongkook’s lips trailed down to his jaw. “Not even this?”

“Nuh-uh.”

Then to his neck. “Or this.”

“Y-you’re a little snake, you know that?”

Jeongkook chuckled and raised his head back up to look straight into the brown orbs. He loved Taehyung’s eyes. They were the first thing that had him hooked. That and how he explained Fizzing Whizzbees have dried Billywig stings.

He tilted his head and finally planted a chaste kiss right on Taehyung’s lips. “A snake that you’ll really really reeeaallllyyy miss?”

The Slytherin was caught off guard when a peck to the tip of his nose was returned. Taehyung smiled and Jeongkook cursed at the sun inside his head for taking all the credit.

“A snake I’ll miss forever.”

“I hate zoos.”

Taehyung looked up from the book he was reading and frowned. “What? Why?”

“For one, they basically imprison animals. And two, well...I just find the whole concept of it sad.”

“Have you ever been to one?”

“Heck no.” Jimin shivered like it was the worst idea ever. “Do you like them? Shouldn’t you also be against them being an animal lover and all?”

“I do like them. And I think it really depends on which zoo. Like there are zoos who treat the animals well while we should just avoid the ones who are shit at it. But yeah, I like them a lot. I saw an elephant once. It was freaking awesome.”

Jimin just rolled his eyes. “Whatever, Taehyung Scamander.”

Just then a loud crash echoed through the main hall and all heads turned to the Slytherin table where a group of them was laughing at Min Yoongi soaked in today’s soup. One of them caught Taehyung’s eyes. His raven black hair was all ruffled this morning, probably didn’t have enough time to gel it with all the last-minute packing, and a dimple peeking out as he smirked at him. Taehyung could list down all the moments that smirk both intrigued him and made his heart skip about two beats. Beside the list of fantastic beasts inside his head, he’s sure there’s another list which contained all the things he loved about this boy, one of them was that smirk.

Taehyung winked back with a goofy grin and instantly turned back to his best friend.

Jimin noticed and immediately caught up with their scheme. His eyes widened. “No. Absolutely not. You are not doing this to me--”

Taehyung spoke with the loudest voice he could muster that it reached the other end of the hall. “Oh hey! Jiminnie! Is that a handkerchief you have?!”

“Kim bloody Taehyung.”
