Work Text:
As long as you’re mine
Kiss me too fiercely
Hold me too tight
I need help believing
You're with me tonight
A footstep, a snapped twig. Someone was outside his hiding place. A small cave in the forest the entrance covered by a willow tree that sheltered it completely from sight. It had been an accident that he had found two it days ago, falling through the long willows while training one day.
He hadn’t told Hermione about it. Despite it being meters away from their camp. It was his place to come to think or to cry away from his friends worried looks.
Tonight he’d left her sleeping slipping in to his cave and sending out his stag with a message to follow it back to him.
He hadn’t been alone long. Just enough time to ward the cave opening to ensure no one could see in and then light a candle that flickered lighting the cave walls up an orange hue.
Then his stag reentered following by the person he’d been waiting for. Not even letting him get his bearing’s Harry crushed their lips together flinging his arms around the others neck. After a moment of shock the other man responded in kind arms wrapping around his waist and walking them back until they were against the cave wall.
My wildest dreamings
Could not foresee
Lying beside you
With you wanting me
Tears fell involuntarily down Harry’s cheeks and after a moment more the man pulled back pushing their foreheads together while wiping the tears away, “Hush, I am hear now.”
Harry nodded, “I can hardly bare it anymore. Not knowing you are safe.”
Those lips kissed his again, “It is I who should be worried. My lover is being hunted by a mad man.”
Harry allowed a small laugh, “Yes, but you have to be in the same room as that madman.”
“Only to learn his secrets to keep you safe,” The man whispered into his mouth. “I should keep you locked in a dungeon that only I have access to.”
“Promises promises,” they fell to the floor on to a blanket that Harry had brought from the tent.
And just for this moment
As long as you're mine
I've lost all resistance
And crossed some border line
There were no more words exchanged between them then for a while then afterwards they lay together, naked, covered by a soft fluffy navy throw that Hermione had told him she’d stolen from her cousins house when she’d been collecting for their potential trip.
Harry turned burrowing closer to the man, an arm across his middle and head on his chest. The man long fingers traced patterns on his shoulder.
“How long can you stay?”
“Until Dawn.”
“I wish it could be an endless night then,” Harry whispered placing a soft kiss to that naked chest.
“We have hours left yet do not waste them by fretting about the ticking clock,” the man captured his lips in another searing kiss and Harry’s heart felt as though it would explode.
“Hermione might wake and find me gone,” He almost cried at the thought.
The other man laughed, “I know 101 spells that would knock her out for the rest of the night. I’ll not let anyone take this moment from me.”
And if it turns out
It's over too fast
I'll make every last moment last
As long as you're mine
The silence ensued again and the cave was filled with moans and grunts. Then they were still again. Harry felt tired, bone tired, exhausted from long days training, running, and fretting.
“Tell me a story?” Harry whispered.
The man arched a brow, “You’ll fall asleep.”
“Not with you here. Never with you here.” He teased the man’s nipple.
“Alright, as you wish.”
Maybe I'm brainless
Maybe I'm wise
But you've got me seeing
Through different eyes
“There were once two men whom were trapped by two masters. They did not see the similarities in their situations, in their minds, they did not see how broken and hurt the other one was. Then one day one of their masters made them work together, train together, and it should have been a disaster. A violent mistake that drove them even further apart,” the man kissed his forehead, “but they saw into each others broken minds. They saw each others hurt they saw each others pain and they began to trust each other.”
“They shared secrets, about plans, about curses and spells, about the future. Then when the time came for one of them to do the masters bidding again they each knew the truth. About each other and the plans.” An hand stroked down his arm.
“Then, not knowing if he’d ever see the one he’d come to trust more than any other, he did something very stupid,” the story paused as the man ran his fingers over the others mouth.
“He didn’t do anything stupid,” Harry interrupted.
“Oh, I did, I snogged him silly right there outside Hagrid’s hut with Death Eaters not meters ahead.” Then he kissed him again. The way he had that night.
Somehow I've fallen
Under your spell
And somehow I'm feeling
It's up that I fell
“I love you, Severus.” Harry whispered as the man moved back again.
“And I you, Harry.” Severus wiped away a stray tear that had fallen again.
Every moment
As long as you're mine
I'll wake up my body
And make up for lost time
“These stolen hours are never long enough,” Harry told him by way of explanation for the tears.
“Time with you will never be long enough.” Severus told him.
“And what about after all of this. Will we have to keep meeting in caves and pretending we hate each other in corridors.” Harry said distastefully.
“If I survive this war there is nothing that will keep me from your side,” the man told him sincerely.
Say there's no future
For us as a pair
“Don’t say ‘If’, I cannot live if you do not survive this,” The tears continued to fall and his heart ached.
Severus shook his head, “I think that death with be my retribution for all the wrongs I have done.”
“Severus, you have spent half your life making up for the wrongs you did in your youth.” Harry grabbed his face pulling it forwards trying to make him believe it.
And though I may know
I don't care
Just for this moment
As long as you're mine
“I have done nothing to deserve you, Harry, I was a weak man to take you like I did but you are the only good in my life but I have captured you because I am a wicked man.” Severus told him eyes closed.
“If this is wicked then I hope you stay wicked always.”
Come be how you want to
And see how bright we shine
Borrow the moonlight
Until it is through
The moonlight was fading fast disappearing further behind the trees and Harry’s heart began to ache knowing that the sun was approaching and at any moment the sky would turn from black to the beginnings of blue.
“When will I see you next?” Harry asked suddenly desperate.
Severus shook his head, “I do not know. The Carrows leave Hogwarts less and less. The risk is too high while they are there incase they follow me or discover I was gone and report my unexplained absence.”
“We are moving again tomorrow to a new camp.” He told him.
“Good,” Severus told him, “You should move after every time we meet. My shields are strong but one day I might make a mistake and I could not bare to be the one who caused your capture.”
The first orange of the suns glow broke out over the forest as they both dressed quietly.
“Harry, everything I do, I do so that you may live.”
“Everything I do, I do so that one day we can live together in peace.”
They kissed again, slowly this time, and then Severus Snape was gone into the day break and Harry had to slowly make his way back to his lonely bed in his tent falling into a tense sleep wondering when they would next meet.
And know I'll be here
Holding you
As long as you're mine
