Work Text:

Margie, Rich, Lilly, Ronnie, and Will took three “Mommy’s Little Helpers” and followed Matty into the sewers. The pills kicked in fast, and everyone and everything seemed a little bit distorted. As they began their adventure into the sewers, Ronnie and Lilly stayed by each other’s side. They giggled at each other and held hands. They continued to follow Matty, that was, until they reached a dead end.
“Looks like a dead end.” Lilly spoke.
“I… I-I could’ve sworn it was right.” Matty stuttered.
Somewhere, in the distance, someone yelled, “Hallorann!”
“You hear that?”
“Voices.”
Lilly squeezed Ronnie’s hand.
“There’s someone else down here.” Matty spoke as he investigated a passage.
“We should go back,” Margie spoke, fear evident in her voice.
Suddenly, Susie’s body appeared. Margie covered her mouth and let out a “Oh my God!”
“It’s Susie, Oh my God!” Lilly spoke with fear.
Teddy appeared.
“Teddy!” Lilly yelled.
Phil appeared next.
“Oh my God! Is that Phil?!”
“He’s dead!”
Ronnie increased her grip on Lilly’s hand.
Matty began to sing as he circled around a pole:
“All of the tunnels are underground where none of the children will ever be found,”
Lilly stepped back, tripping over a body, falling into the gray water and thus letting go of Ronnie’s hand.
“They wandered away to join the show and lost their way in the world below,”
Matty’s figure shifted, then…

Matty’s body was revealed. The Matty they followed into the sewers wasn’t the real Matty.
The real Matty was dead.
Pennywise continued singing the tune, the others screamed in fear at Matty’s body.
Pennywise kept transforming and the kids watched in fear.
“Duck and cover, kiddos.” Pennywise spoke with that terrifying smile.
The kids ran, as fast as they could, back the way they came.
Lilly tripped, falling behind.
“GUYS, WAIT UP!!” She yelled.
She got up and continued running, catching up to them. Pennywise was hot on their trails.
“You can’t outrun me, kiddos!” Pennywise spoke, chuckling.
They made it near the exit and Will, Rich, Margie, and Ronnie ran out.
“Guys we made it out!” Rich exclaimed.
Ronnie looked at the sewers, and her face filled with horror. She screamed,
“LILLY, WATCH OUT!”
Lilly almost made it out but Pennywise caught up to her.

One of his hands became a big claw and he scratched Lilly’s backside.
She screamed, falling out of the sewers and onto the rocks.
Pennywise let out a great chuckle and spoke:
“Better luck next time, kids!”
He disappeared into the sewers, body disappearing into the darkness. His eyes glowed for a few seconds and then nothing.
Ronnie ran to Lilly’s side. The scratch was horrible and Lilly was bleeding bad.
She held Lilly in her arms, who was crying.
“Lilly, stay with me, please!” Ronnie pleaded.
“It hurts, Vee… It hurts so bad…” Lilly cried.
“I know, Lills, I know. Try to stay awake, okay?” Ronnie was panicking; Lilly’s eyes kept closing like she was going to sleep.
“Vee…” Lilly spoke softly, her breathing was slowing.
“Yes?” Ronnie spoke, tears falling down her face.
Lilly raised a hand to Ronnie’s face, caressing her cheek.
“I… I love you.” Lilly mustered a small smile.
“I love you too…” Ronnie spoke, her tears never-ending.
Lilly’s breathing stopped.
“Lills…” Ronnie spoke.
“Lilly! Lilly Bainbridge, don’t you die on me!” Ronnie yelled, shaking Lilly’s lifeless body.

The others stood in silence. Margie cried into Rich’s shoulder.
Ronnie screamed, pulling Lilly closer to her.
Ronnie’s body shook with both anger and pain. Anger because Pennywise took away someone Ronnie loved. Pain because… Well, she had lost Lilly, the girl she was in love with.
Ronnie couldn’t believe it. That horrific bastard had taken Lilly’s life. He had also taken other kids' lives. Ronnie was pissed. She looked down at Lilly, a sad smile appeared on her face. At least she is safe from this horrible place in Maine. Ronnie grabbed Lilly’s hand and squeezed it. She brought Lilly’s hand to her face and planted a kiss on her knuckles.
“Don’t worry, Lills, we’ll get revenge. For you, and for those kids.” Ronnie spoke, and a wave of new tears hit her. She let them fall because Lilly would have wanted her to cry, to let it out. Lilly would have comforted her, told her she was here for her, that’d it be okay. But now? Now she wasn’t here, and that made Ronnie cry even harder. Ronnie hadn’t even gotten the chance to tell Lilly her feelings and now she would never be able to. Ronnie spoke in a whisper,
“I love you and always will. I’ll never forget you, my pretty girl.”
Ronnie leaned closer to Lilly and planted a kiss upon her forehead.
“Goodbye, my brave warrior.” Ronnie whispered, tears rushing down her face at a fast pace.
Ronnie looked back at the sewers and spoke, loud enough for the others to hear:
“We’ll be back for you, you sick, twisted, asshole!”
Ronnie was filled with a new determination: get vengeance for the girl she loved and for the other kids who had lost their life to that thing.
