It was Friday, meaning nie mingjue and lan Xichen would have their weekly movie night. They switch out picking movies and snacks. It’s Nie Mingjues week to pick the movie and lan Xichens week to pick the snacks.
If it were Lan Xichens night to pick the movie it would likely mean watching Twilight again, Nie mingjue on the other hand likes documentaries, and occasionally queer romance movies. He has got a recommendation from his brother to watch some animated movie that happened to be gay. Nie huaisang said the music was good, and that nie mingjue would probably like it.
For snacks, Lan Xichen got boba (Xichen got butterfly tea flavored, and Mingjue got green apple with tapioca pearls. It’s odd, Nie mingjue normally doesn’t like sweet flavors like green apple or tapioca pearls. but he’s been oddly craving it for a while.) Lan Xichen comes to sit down. As usual he sits right next to nie mingjue allowing mingjue to lean against him so they can cuddle.

The morning after nie mingjue woke up, he knew it was early, early because lan xichen hadn't woken up yet and lan xichen normally wakes up at 5:30 on the dot. Nie Mingjue grabs his phone and clicks the home button to turn it on. He's still sleepy so he squints at the bright screen and makes out the numbers, 4:39.
Just as he sets his phone down he feels nausea rise to his throat. Baxia who was sleeping happily at his feet wakes up and stands at alert as nie mingjue throws his sheets off himself and rushes to the bathroom quickly and frantically opening the toilet seat just as he starts throwing up. Lan xichen must have heard the gagging because before long he is in the doorway.
“Is your stomach upset?” lan xichen asks
Nie mingjue weakly shakes his head then shrugs as another bout of nausea hits him full force. Lan xichen rushes over and holds his hair back with one hand and rubs circles in his back with the other.

“Im sorry you are feeling sick. Is there anything I can do to help?” lan xichen asks
Nie mingjue thinks for a moment as if contemplating what to say or if he should say something.
“Uhm when the sun comes up do you think you can go to the pharmacy and te me ginger candy, any ginger drink and uhm” he clearly contemplates if he should say something but he ultimately decides to say it “a pregnancy test”
Xichen seems a bit shocked and speechless for a moment before responding with “a pregnancy test?”
“Yeah” baxia entered the bathroom as well and sat next to nie mingjue who is currently avoiding eye contact with lan xichen
“Oh well uhm i can do that for you” lan xichen pauses “do you think you are pregnant?"
“Yeah” nie mingjue mutters “I dont know I mean probably not I just need to know I just have a feeling and its probably wrong I mean if I am I wouldn't be mad because I want a baby but I don't know if you do and I would probably be a terrible parent, and if I am pregnant it would be worth it if we both want it but that's only if you do and what happens if my health get worse or I have a flare up that affects the baby what if the baby dies what if I die and and god im spiraling because im probably not pregnant but if I a-”
Lan xichen puts a hand on his shoulder
“Love, it's going to be ok if you are pregnant. We can talk about it, we have options and we can talk about it. I would be happy to be a father and think you would be an awesome father if you wanted to have a baby but let's calm down ok? Nothing bad will happen right now and I will make sure you are safe ok”
“Ok” nie mingjue responds
“Breath with me ok?” xichen takes a big breath in and mingjue follows

“Now let me get you some water to wash the taste out of your mouth and then i make you tea and the second the pharmacy opens I will go out and get you a test and some ginger candy”
“Thank you” nie mingjue responds, petting baxia who is clearly happy to be included her soft fur being a sort of comfort to nie mingjue and baxia is happy to provide nie mingjue with support in turn she gets fed and unlimited pets
Lan xichen fills a dixi cup with water and hands it to nie mingjue who sips the water and swishes it around his mouth and spitting it out
“Good now lets get you back to bed” lan xichen holds out his hand to help nie mingjue up, nie mingjue takes it and stands up on shaky legs and lets lan xichen guide him to bed.
Once nie mingjue gets in bed with his soft comforter he checks his phone again its 4:58 the 19 minutes in the bathroom had felt like an eternity.
Lan xichen goes to the kitchen and nie mingjue can hear the sounds of cabinets clinking and the stove top being turned on.
Before long lan xichen returns with two cups of ginger tea he hands one to nie mingjue and sits down on the edge of the bed.
“The pharmacy opens at 6:30 so we have an hour and a half to calm down ok? Do you ant to come with me or stay home” lan xichen asks
“Stay home” nie mingjue responds “can we cuddle?”
“Drink your tea then yes of course we can cuddle” lan xichen responds smiling and chuckling a bit
Nie mingjue drank his tea quick enough so he can get to cuddles and slow enough so he wouldn't get scolded for drinking to quickly
Nie mingjue felt so much better after drinking the tea, he set his cup down on the nightstand and laid back in bed lan xichen nuzzled up next to him and baxia right in the middle of it all.
For an hour they just lay there together as one in bed but peace cant last forever and lan xichen did indeed have to get up.

Once the clock hit 6:2- lan xichen started getting ready to go to the pharmacy. Really he was only gone for 30 minutes but it felt like forever for nie mingjue who stayed laying in bed still feeling not great from his morning sickness.
Lan xichen comes back with a plastic grocery bag in hand.

A bag of ginger candy
A little puppy plushy (lan xichen wanted nie mingjue to feel extra loved)

And last but certainly not least and the star of the show: a two back of pregnancy tests
Nie mingjue grabs the box and xichen squeezes his hand in support

He's going to take both tests just in case
Nie mingjue takes the tests and lays them face down in their bed and sets a 3 minute timer.
Lan xichen sits across from him holding his hand
The timer goes off and lan xichen looks at nie mingue
“Are you ready love?”
Nie mingjue nods
“Im ready” he closes his eyes and breathes before flipping them over.
Two red lines

Both tests have two red lines
He looked back up lan xichen who has an expression of awe
“Its positive its actually positive” nie mingjue said tears forming in his eyes
Happy tears
“Xichen we are going to be parents”
Lan xichen hugs nie mingjue taking him into a tight embrace
“Love you’re pregnant!” tears well up in lan xichens eyes as well
Nie mingjue pulls lan xichen into one more hug.

Later that day nie mingjue took a photo of the positive tests next to baxia and sent the photo to nie huaisng
