Work Text:
The universe was blinding. Even when filtered through his laptop's crappy monitor, he could still feel infinity piercing his mind. He looked away, desperate for the comfort of mundane reality, but as he turned his head the world seemed to flash. Rather than his bedroom wall, it was the side of the yellow gates that greeted him. He turned back, gazing once more upon the King, this time with no barrier.
He spun quickly, stumbling as his heavy armor pulled him down and ran towards the right tunnel as fast as his shaky legs could. He reached a dead end and started punching and clawing at the stone.
With each hit, he sees a flash of reality, his bedroom wall stained with blood, his knuckles burning, before being pulled back.
After what was simply a second compared to the timelines worth of memories he now held, he reached the start of his mineshaft.
He crawled through the opening, and searched through the single chest for anything to write with, to release the pressure on his mind before it could burst from everything at once.
He slammed down the lid of the chest, and with one more flash, was finally released back into his true world, in front of his laptop, his hands throbbing with pain and ripped to shreds. With a shaky mouse in hand, he brought the book and quill into his hotbar and started typing.
