Work Text:

Alya Césaire waved to her best friend as she entered the room. There had been some......tension between her and Marinette recently but they'll always care about each other. As evident by the bluenette waving back with a smile. Though the smile dropped when the source of the tension walked in. Alya sighed internally. Lila was a really cool girl and she couldn't understand why Marinette didn't like her. At first she thought it was because she was jealous of the brunette spending time with their mutual crush, Adrien, but her blossoming friendship with her other rival, Kagami, kinda shot that theory in the foot. The reporter and her friend had definitely gotten into arguments about it in the past, hence the previously mentioned tension, to the point that they just didn't talk about Lila. Still, it would do wonders for the harmony of the class if they could just get along.

"Hi Alya." Lila greeted with a smile.

"Hey Lila." The creole teen responded.

Then Lila made eye contact with Marinette, causing Alya to tense slightly. Fortunately, other than a narrow eyed look at Lila's smile in her direction, Marinette did nothing but walk to her seat.

"Sorry about her. I just wish we could figure out how to get you to get along. You two would rock together." Alya said to Lila.

"Don't worry about it Alya. I don't know what her issue with me is, but maybe some people just aren't meant to get along." The brunette responded.

Well obviously, but this was different. It was one thing for her and Chloé not to get along since the latter was the worst, but Mari and Lila were both awesome.

Her thoughts were interrupted by someone else walking into the room hurriedly. It was Sabrina. The ginger looked flustered and was doing her best not to look at anyone as she took her seat next to Chloé.

"What's her deal?" Alya thought to herself.

The class proceeded without interruption until the end, in which Sabrina attempted to quickly leave as well, only for her to trip and land on the floor. Marinette, because of course she would, was the first to check on her. How caring she was was one of Alya's favorite things about that girl.

"Are you ok?" The bluenette asked.

For some reason, it seemed the other girl only got more flustered, simply nodding before running off, not even bothering to wait for Chloé as usual. Ok, now she was getting suspicious.

Her suspicions only grew later at lunch. Alya was sitting with her friends (unfortunately without Marinette who had chosen to eat elsewhere when Lila had invited her), when Chloé and Sabrina arrived. The blonde was talking about whatever it was they talked about when Sabrina suddenly froze, face going red.

"Actually Chloé, I need to go.......somewhere else." She stammered, quickly leaving the cafeteria and a stunned heiress behind.

"What?! Sabrina! Get back here!" Chloé exclaimed.

"What was that about?" Lila asked.

Good question. Because Alya noticed the moment she froze, and it was right when she looked at their table. Or more accurately, at Lila.

So whatever was going on with Sabrina had to do with Marinette and Lila and left the ginger flustered. What could it possibly be? She needed to know. If the scene in the cafeteria was any indication, Chloé didn't seem to know what was happening. So she'd have to get information from the source.

They were returning to class but still had a bit of time before they actually needed to. Which meant neither Mari nor Lila were back, and it was the perfect time to confront her.

"Alright, spill." Alya said.

Sabrina startled and looked around. "Me? Spill what?" She asked.

"What the deal is with Marinette and Lila. And don't try to deny it. You've been freaked out all day." The reporter said.

"Is that why you've been weird? Dupain-Cheng and Rossi?" Chloé asked.

Sabrina gulped. By this point the others were paying attention to the conversation and were definitely curious. And since Chloé knew something was up now, she couldn't just not say something. So she started talking.

Flashback

Sabrina Raincomprix was on her way to class when she heard a noise. The ginger paused. For a moment she thought she was imagining it until she heard the sound again. It was someone or something bumping into something. Worried someone might be hurt, she followed the sound to a usually empty room. She opened the door slightly and froze.

Pinned against a wall was a flushed but smirking Lila. And the one pinning her there was none other than Marinette. Just as Sabrina was trying to process what on Earth was going on, the two girls moved in for a kiss, Sabrina's reality shattering on the spot. Marinette and Lila didn't like each other. Everyone knew that. So she couldn't comprehend the steadily evolving make out session, finding herself unable to move even when they separated.

"You must have really missed me." The brunette smirked.

"Don't push it." The bluenette said.

"But that's my favorite part." Lila said. "You're cute when you're mad."

"Keep talking and I'll have to shut you up again." She growled.

"And if I want that?" Lila asked.

It was at that point Sabrina found the will to move, running off before either of them could notice her.

Present

At her story, everyone was either blushing, slack jawed or both.

"Marinette. And Lila. Are together?" Alya asked in disbelief.

"I don't think that's the right word." Sabrina said nervously. "There was still animosity."

"Seriously?!" Chloé exclaimed. "I've been trying for years and Rossi gets it done this fast!?"

Choosing to ignore that, Alya tried to wrap her head around the story. Who knew Marinette could be so dominant? It didn't quite fit what she knew about either of them. Wait, where were they now? If Sabrina was right about what happened, then she had a pretty big clue.

Alya quickly ran out of the room to the empty room her classmate spoke about. Quietly and slowly opening the door, her face immediately heated up. Hearing about it and seeing it were two very different things. Lila had her arms wrapped around Marinette's neck as they were locked in a fierce kiss. Alya knew her friends were pretty but at this moment, she couldn't think they were anything other than hot. Their flushed and slightly disheveled looks as they separated didn't help.

"Y'know, Alya said we could do great things together. Though I doubt this is what she meant." Lila said.

"Over my dead body." Marinette breathed.

"Oh don't be like that. Maybe she has a point. We could have a lot of fun on the same page." The brunette pulled her closer.

"We'll only be on the same page when you stop lying." Marinette said.

"And stop making you mad? You're always more fun when you're mad." Lila grinned.

Alya saw Marinette smirk at the brunette before they continued and decided it was time to go. Red in the face, she realized that those two's relationship was more complicated than she realized.
