Impulse misses Skizz

Work Text:

Impulse was kneading the dough in front of him, looking down at what he was doing with a look of concentration. That was until he heard a door open behind him, and he turned to glance over his shoulder at the newcomer.
“Hey Impulse!”
“Hi Tango,” Impulse waved to his friend with a floury hand. Tango cheerily waved back.
As Tango set down his bag he was carrying, he peeked over at Impulse’s task.
“Making bread again? Can I join?” He asked, beaming when Impulse nodded. “Great!” And he departed to go and wash his hands.
Impulse listened to the running water he waited, looking at his dough. He pushed at it, and then shifted to the side so there was room for Tango.
Not long after, Tango left the bathroom, rubbing the leftover dampness he wasn't able to vanquish with the towel with a quick brush against his pants and he walked over to join Impulse.
He joined in on the kneading.
“So, how was your day?” Tango asked, “Did Skizz stop by already?”
“No, not yet, he said he wouldn’t be available until a few hours from now,” Impulse complained a bit grumpily. “He hasn’t come over for a few days, he keeps saying he’s busy helping Scar out.”
Impulse wasn’t upset that Skizz was helping Scar out– It was work after all, he was just sad that Skizz hadn’t been able to find time to come visit Impulse, or that there hadn’t been an important enough event that required his presence along with Scar and Skizz.
“Think the bread will be ready by the time Skizz gets here?” Tango nudged Impulse. Impulse shrugged.
“I don’t know exactly when he’s getting here,”
Tango glanced down at the bread, and then up at Impulse. “How about you call him? I think the bread’s ready to sit for a bit anyways.”
Impulse looked down at the bread with a scrutinizing look, staring intensively, and then nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, it’s ready.”
Tango helped out Impulse as he put the dough into a bowl and covered it.
They both went to wash their hands before Tango went over to give Impulse his phone.
“Is Skizz working right now?
“No,”
“Then call him,” Tango prompted. Impulse rolled his eyes but took his phone and clicked on Skizz’s number, ignoring that Tango had noticed that his contact was pinned.
The moment Impulse saw that Skizz had accepted his call, he heard a voice emit from his phone.
“‘Sup Dipple dop,” Impulse couldn’t help but smile at the greeting and the sound of Skizz’s voice.
