Chapter 1: Dear diary
Chapter Text
Dear diary, it’s me Radia. I’m starting a new diary so it’s best I start with the rules of how dad wants me to live my life.
1. Don’t touch technology with bare hands. Especially, if it’s connected to the Internet.
2. Don’t go out without permission or someone with you.
3. Don’t talk to strangers at all nonverbal cues are OK.
4. Don’t interact with people from Dillinger electronics.
5. Hide my markings at all times.
I know they’re hard to follow sometimes, but I guess being in a rural area makes them somewhat easier. As most people don’t really do the whole technology thing. The only time I even get to touch technology if it’s not connected to the Internet, so retro shit. At least I get to play arcade games like space paranoids. Mom tells me stories of the lady I was named after she was apparently a great leader from where she was from but they never give me great detail details like they’re hiding something. I’m 15 I deserve to know some information. Like the glowing markings I have on my body, and my weird connection to technology. I still even have a bedtime because they don’t want me sneaking out. Things have been especially stressful since what happened on the news happened with that recognizer attacking center city they were pretty panicked about that but had faith in this Eve Kim. Dad talked about her on occasion, but he doesn’t like giving out details like both of them do. So fucking annoying. Writing things down, beats venting to the goats as a diary doesn’t try to eat your clothes at the same. Sometimes I hear strange noises from the basement like a laser turning on, but I must just be going crazy from isolation and stuff. I just need answers and it’s driving me mad! I at least have one friend Rebecca she’s from the next homestead over a little ways away but reasonable for the countryside. She makes me not go crazy and pull my hair out. She has some errands that she has to do for her parents in town and my dad says I can come with her so I hope nothing goes wrong…
Chapter 2: A strange interaction
Summary:
A strange new man wandered into town, looking for someone

Chapter Text
“ don’t worry I’m wearing my gloves!” Radia yells before opening the door to leave the Homestead. Rebecca was waiting outside in her pickup and she quickly runs up to the pickup. “ so your dad finally let you leave the house again.” Rebecca says in lightheartedly “ you know my parents protective as always.” As Rebecca drives they begin to gossip especially about the new farm hand at Rebecca’s place who is rather cute and Radia’s type. Kind, genuine, and a bit of a nerd but of course, she can barely even get a few words in without her dad breathing down his neck. They quickly park in the town Square near the courthouse and begin to walk around the Square to do some errands. “ first we need to pick up some pills from the pharmacy but you know how long they take. Maybe we could get something from the soda fountain.” She says dreading how long it would take. “ but at least your dad’s money. Should you know handle the soda fountain pretty good” Radia smiles awkwardly “ I know he’s filthy rich, but chooses to live in the bum fuck of nowhere what kind of decision is that” Rebecca smiles “ if you were somewhere else you wouldn’t meet me” “ shit you’re right maybe this place ain’t so bad but still you wish I it had a little bit more stuff to do” they joke until they get to the pharmacy where Radia gets the form for her mom’s meds ready ever since her mom gave birth to her. She’s had some chronic pains and stuff Radia always felt guilty about that stuff. While the meds are being prepared she sits down at the soda fountain and order some pie and ice cream. “ so any drama at the public school I should know about.” Radia inquiries “ apparently some debate about the permanent code thing got physical, who the super scrawny kids who are a little too passionate about tech could fight like that” Rebecca and Radia laughed a little at that. When they finish their food, pay and grab the meds, Radia takes her glove off for a minute, get some fresh air on her hands, even though it was against the rule she wasn’t gonna touch any technology. She quickly bumped into a tower of a man with long dark hair and brown eyes wearing all leather. Her gloves quickly fell, and she was about to pick him up when he grabbed them for her. “ nice gloves do these belong to you” Radia quickly, grabbed her gloves, accidentally touching him and feeling a strange sensation like electricity through her body after touching him, which is not normal if he is a human. Not wanting to get into deep shit with her father decides to speak up “ those are hers and thanks for the compliment, but she’s mute so.” quickly, grabbing her hand and running off noticing the guy also felt the sensation. She could hear in the distance “ she’s not normal is she?” She quickly panics internally realizing she could get in deep shit if her father finds out they quickly finish up their errands and quickly drive home Rebecca dropping off Radia. “ hey Mr. Flynn sorry it took a while your wife’s meds do take a while to get prepared at the pharmacy because of some legal mumbo-jumbo” she says casually “ I know and thanks for letting my girl get out of the house for a bit. She didn’t violate the rules, right” he says the last part a little sternly enough to get them sweating a little “ no sir I covered her a lot when it came to the rules.” Omitting the fact that the strange man interacted with them. Radia hurrying into the house, not noticing the motorcycle in the distance.
Chapter 3: Entry two

Second of the diary entries
Chapter Text
Dear diary… Dad sent me straight up to my room after I dropped off my mom’s meds in her room. He said he needed to talk to someone with mom. I know it’s rude to listen in, but I can’t help it. The vents are very good at carrying sound. Apparently the person I encountered while in town is named Ares, and he knows stuff about my mom and dad. This is getting juicy.
Apparently, this guy is friends with that Eve Kim lady but the way they talk. Sounds like he likes her too much. He says he knows about my gift, that’s one way to put the curse that makes Dad have to put in all those rules. Apparently I shouldn’t be possible, and that mom should be perfectly infertile, and since I’m here, I’m a miracle or something. What a joke.
I just don’t get it when people praise me I mean, yeah I can get arcade machines to do what I want and get the high scores easily but it’s all in the wrist really. Shit. Dad’s getting mad. Apparently the guy wants to take the family to Eve so that I can be safe from this Julian asshole. Dad for some reason has another plan saying he’ll send me to his father’s creation. Great now they’re fighting and the guy is staying pretty calm though. Seems he also has some difficulty expressing emotion. My parents said I didn’t really cry much as a kid. Dad sounds exhausted and he’s calling me down. Pray I don’t die or something
