Just Say It!

Summary:

Angel wants to ask Husk out. Cherri is tired and wants Angel to ask Husk out as well.

Work Text:

Angel is on the couch watching Husk from across the room. Husk is at the bar, not taking notice of Angel’s gaze, washing a glass to serve a costumer. Cherri is sitting next to Angel on her phone. She looks up to see Angel ogling at Husk. She rolls her eyes.

“Dude just ask him out already.” Cherri says annoyed.

Angel jumps slightly. Cherri comment took him off guard. “Psh what the hell are you talking about.” Angel tries to play it off.

“Gee i don’t know maybe it’s how you’re just ogling at the guy.” Cherri says point at Husk.

Angel looks back at Husk and Husk meets Angel eyes. Husk smiles with a faint blush creeping on his face and waves. This makes Angel blush and wave back.

“And it’s so obvious he likes you too. Just ask!” Cherri says swatting Angel’s shoulder.

“Ugh I can’t. Trust me I’ve tried. And it just went right over his head.”

✨Flashback✨

“Heya Whiskers~” Angel Dust says coming up to the bar.

“Hey Legs. The usual?” Husk asks already making the drink.

“Eh sure. Buuut I actually came here to ask ya something.” Angel says taking a seat. And Husk can’t see it but Angel is fidgeting with his second set of hands while his first set of hands are on the counter.

“Really? Alright shoot.” Husk says sliding Angel’s drink to him.

“Sooo hypothetically if I were to ask a certain someone out how should I go about it?”

Husk pauses for a moment and then turns to look at Angel.

“Oh…um….Angel I don’t think I’m the one you should come to for love advice.” Husk says.

Angel thinks that’s bullshit. Husk is like the most romantic person he knows. Well that or maybe Husk is just a gentleman unlike most of Hell. He’s always doing stuff for Angel. Whether it be getting Angel’s favorite snack without him asking or caring for Fat Nuggets while Angel is out. Husk can’t be that oblivious can he?

“Sure….well this is hypothetical so don’t take it too seriously. Mk?”

Husk sighs “Alright if you say so. I guess it depends on what the person is like…”

Angel stares at Husk.

“….Soooo what’s he like?” Husk asks.

“Oh! Well he’s super sweet and caring but he acts like he doesn’t care and comes off as a huge grump. Sounds like anybody you know?” Angel says raising an eyebrow, as if he was trying to telepathically tell Husk something.

“No not really.” Husk says taking a glass and cleaning it.

Angel blinks at Husk. He must be playing dumb. Right?

Angel laughs “Okay funny but sure I’ll play along. So he’s a huge grump. Loves his alcohol though he’s getting better at managing it and he has a soft spot for Fat Nuggets despite what he might say.”

“Huh. Well besides the alcohol thing, sounds like he’s a catch.” Husk says putting away the clean glasses.

“Doesn’t he!? Now advice time what should I do?” Angel asks eagerly. Surely Husk knew who Angel was referring to now.

“I don’t know Angel. Does this guy show signs of liking you back.” Husk asks putting a hand on his hip.

Angel takes a moment. “Um I think so. Or he’s just a really nice guy. But I’m leaning more on the “he likes me” train because of the whole…y’know grump thing.”

“…Right….and he’s never thought to ask you out?” Husk asks. Finally looking Angel in the eyes being done with his bar duties.

“Um well…I don’t know if he’s thought about it. But either way I wanna ask him so…how do I go about it oh wise bartender?” Angel asks in a playful tone.

“Hm. Well my best bet is just to ask him straight.” Husk says.

Angel smiles smugly. “Straight you say….”

“Oh my satan— you know what I mean!” Husk says trying not to smile at the joke.

“Hm fine I can do that. Hey Husk.”

“Yeah?”

“Do you wanna go on a date with me?”

Husk stares at Angel. Angel starts to worry that this might be the moment that Husk rejects him and ruins their friendship forever. That is until—

“See! Now was that so hard? Now all ya gotta do is ask him like that and I’m sure he will say yes. If he doesn’t well he’s just a dumbass.” Husk says shrugging and then closes up the bar. Angel stares at Husk dumbfounded. He can’t believe it. Husk had no idea that the guy he was talking about WAS in fact Husk.

Husk is leaving the bat after finishing closing the bar. “Night Legs. Let me know what he says. Yeah?” Husk leaves before Angel can even respond. Something about the way Husk said that made Angel think he really doesn’t know that Angel was talking about him. And Husk sounded sad. Which made Angel sad. Angel bangs his head on the bar.

✨Flashback over✨

“Wooow…” Cherri says.

Angel sighs “Yup. He had no idea I was talking about him. Which is crazy considering how specific I was. Literally described him!”

“And half of Hell.” Cherri retorts.

Angel stops and looks at Cherri “what?”

“I mean all you said was that the guy was a grump and but had a heart. Hate to break it to ya babe but that could be anybody.” Cherri says.

“Pfft no it could not. I also pointed out his love for alcohol.”

“You do know the guy is a bartender right? He sees people who love alcohol just as much as him everyday. Hell! He sees you everyday.” Cherri says.

Angel sighs in defeat. “Okay that’s fair. But I did bring up having a soft spot for Fat Nuggets!” Angel says confidently.

“Angel, babe, it’s Fat Nuggets. It’s like impossible to not like him.” Cherri says.

Angel groans and his head falls into his lap “Fuuuckk your right I wasn’t descriptive enough.”

“Oh my satan. It doesn’t matter how descriptive you were just ask the guy and don’t dance around it. I’m sure if that was the first thing you said there wouldn’t have been any confusion. You’re both a little dumb when it comes to each other. It’s honestly sad to watch.” Cherri says.

“Fine! I’ll just be more forward in asking him next time.” Angel says sinking back into the couch with both set of arms crossed.

Cherri gives him a look.

“What?” Angel asks.

Cherri gives him the same look with more intensity.

“W-wait now?” Angel asks.

“Uh yeah! You ain’t doing nothing right now and would you look at that the bar is empty.” Cherri says pointing to an empty bar where Husk is now cleaning empty glasses.

“I don’t know he seems pretty busy.” Angel says.

Cherri gets up and pulls Angel off the couch to his feet and pushes him in the direction of the bar.

“Ask. Him.” Cherri says pointing towards the bar ordering Angel to go over there.

“Ugh fine but if he rejects me you’re buying me like—six tubs of ice cream.” Angel says walking backwards—still facing Cherri—towards the bar.

“Six? Why six?” Cherri asks confused.

“One for each hand.” Angel says smugly as he turns to start walking forward.

Husk is putting up empty glasses. He looks up to see Angel heading towards him. Husk watches carefully as Angel takes a seat on one of the bar stools in front of him.

“Heya kitty cat.” Angel says nervously.

“Hey legs. Want a harder daddy?” Husk ask reaching to make the drink.

Angel grabs Husk hand to keep him in one spot. Seriously how hard was if for the bartender to not bartend for like five seconds.

“Angel?” Husk asks rubbing Angel’s hand with his thumb. Worried something might be wrong. This snaps Angel out of his thoughts.

“Husk. I’m gonna be straight with you—.”

Husk snickers “You sure that it ain’t gonna be hard for you?” Husk says smugly.

“Ha ha. Husk look about our conversation yesterday—.”

“Oh yeah about that. What did he say?” Husk asks tilting his head.

“W-what did who say?”

“The guy you’ve been crushing on. Did he agree to go on a date with you?”

Angel stares at him again dumbfounded once more and then takes a breath. “Husk…babe the guy I was talking about was you.”

There is a moment. Husk stares and Angel can see the gears turning in Husk’s head. And then it clicks.

“Wait were you asking me out?!” Husk says voice cracking and a hard blush falls on his face.

Angel can’t help but laugh blushing as well. “Yea! I thought I was being cute and mysterious with the whole hypothetical thing but I think I just confused ya.”

Husk hides his face with his wings in embarrassment.

“Aww wait no Husk it’s okay Cherri kinda explained to me why you probably thought I wasn’t talking about ya.” Angel says trying to push Husk’s wings away so Angel could look at Husk’s face.

“Well I guess I’m the dumbass huh?” Husk asks blushing and eyes glowing.

“Only if ya say no.” Angel retorts.

Husk chuckles. “Of course I’d love to go on a date with you Angel. Shit I was gonna ask ya first if then yesterday the whole conversation—it went straight over my head.”

“Tell me about it. I literally said the words “will you got out with me” and you still didn’t get the hint.” Angel says laughing. Eyes glowing and blushing as well.

“I’m a fucking idiot.” Husk says with his head in his hands.

“Yea but you’re my idiot.” Angel says pulling Husk close for a hug. He then gives Husk a bunch of quick pecks on his face.

Husk playfully tries to push him away. “Ya big sap.”

Angel and Husk are now just laughing and flirting probably going over date plans. Cherri is watching from afar still sitting on the couch watching the love birds finally gush over one another.

“Aww would you look at that. Fuckin idiots took ya long enough.” She says to herself. Scrolling on her phone once more but now in peace.
