Chapter Text
After the Dark Flour War, Pure Vanilla Cookie disappeared, and was presumed dead for quite some time. When he was found, he was... different.
He was in the Black Raisin Village, but the village seemed long abandoned. The place looked horrid. Buildings were falling apart, and the place seemed ravaged by wild animals. Pure Vanilla Cookie was alone, but he was... happy.
Unnervingly so. How could someone that had been isolated for years be this happy?
Regardless, his presence brought a sense of relief to the rest of the Ancients. Knowing that he was alive was what mattered.
However, slowly, the other Ancients started to disappear under mysterious circumstances. Until only Pure Vanilla was left.
Despite this, Pure Vanilla seemed happier than ever.
When they had finally obtained the airship needed to go to Beast-Yeast in search of Dark Enchantress Cookie, he had continued to grow increasingly... strange, shall I say. He tended to stare off into the distance, and he didn't seem like himself.
"Pure Vanilla Cookie, are you sure you're alright?" Strawberry Cookie inquired, seemingly worried about him.
"Yes, I'm sure," Pure Vanilla Cookie responded, even though he didn't seem it. His smile seemed like it was stuck on like glue.
"I don't believe you." Chili Pepper Cookie stated simply.
"As much as I hate to do so, I agree with Chili Pepper Cookie." Wizard Cookie added on.
"There is no need to worry, friends. I am alright." Pure Vanilla Cookie said.
"Whatever you say, Pure Vanilla Cookie!" Gingerbrave agreed happily.
Pure Vanilla seemed relieved at the fact that they believed him. He seemed relieved, but no one could tell what he was actually feeling beneath that smile of his.Meanwhile, Custard Cookie III was running around the ship, carefree as usual. He had no idea of the horrors that awaited him.
PURE VANILLA POV
I couldn't stand these people. Combined with this overwhelming feeling of joy; what was happening? I hadn't felt this happy since... since the other Ancients started to disappear.
I needed to keep it together. Why did I feel so... violent. And yet so happy.
Before I had realized what I was doing, I was looking down at Chili Pepper Cookie, and she was clearly injured.
Had... had I done that? I didn't feel like myself, I felt like I was watching some strange showwhere everyone dies in the end. The others were looking at me with shock, and Gingerbrave was clearly very angry at me... I was so busy monitoring his expression that I didn't notice that whatever had taken hold of me was brutally injuring Chili Pepper Cookie.
She was putting up a fight, and a good one at that, but she couldn't surpass my strength. None of them could.
Is that why they were hesitating to intervene? Hurting Chili Pepper felt... right. It shouldn't have, but I was helping another poor soul find rest. Her jam was already on my hands, so I should finish the job.
GINGERBRAVE POV
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. How could Pure Vanilla Cookie be so... violent? And towards Chili Pepper Cookie, no less. I thought he was our friend.
I ran in front of Chili Pepper's cracked and crumbling body to try and protect her. My efforts proved to be futile, as I was easily pushed aside.
The airship started to crash. What was happening again? It all felt so—
