Work Text:
Toriel was loving living on the surface. She felt like she had much more freedom than before. Taking care of a child again was nice as well. This whole new life of hers is nice.
She has also gotten a…
“*... ‘Pen Pal’, nice term for it, no?” Toriel asks her child, Frisk.
Frisk comments on how you said to not to talk to strangers on the internet, how is this any different?
“*Well… I am an adult with magic, you are a small human child. I can defend myself easily.” Toriel responded.
Frisk says they got through many difficult battles and one was with yo-
Toriel pats Frisk's head, and shoos them off. “*Now, now, Flowey is waiting for you on your bike. Don't want to keep them waiting or be late for school now, no?” Toriel didn't really ask, but more demanded.
Frisk begrudgingly leaves for school, playfully glaring back at Toriel before waving goodbye. Toriel waves back at her child and the very grumpy flower in the bike basket.
Toriel walks back into her house, now alone. She knew what she was going to do while waiting for Frisk to get off of school. First, she needs to clean up the house.
As she gets supplies out and looks around she realizes the house doesn't actually need to be cleaned today. Well, she could bake some pie… no, no, there were already 2 pies in the fridge. Does she actually have anything to do today? She actually has free time.
She might as well get back to her “Pen Pal”. Now what should she write back… they have been sharing recipes lately and she has some good ones to share. And they have been quite… cute in their messages to each other as well. This felt quite weird to Toriel.
She hasn't felt this way in years. Not since, well since him. That was still putting her off of ever being in a relationship again. What if something happens again that she could stop, what if she fails again. She can't fail again. But to not fail, she has to try again.
So, she knew what to write back. She might as well try again.
“Dear Pen Pal,
Your offer of meeting up is a nice thing, and I would love to do so. May we agree on a spot to?
I was thinking the local park? We could also meet up at one of the local cafes. I know this letter is shorter than others of mine, but I mainly wanted to get to the point. So, I do hope we get to meet up at some point soon.
Your best regards,
your Pen Pal”
That was good enough, Toriel truly didn't really know what to say. But now she has to send it out, so off to the Postal office.
She was putting the letter in her box when she felt someone bumped into her. When she looked at who did, she somewhat recognized them. It was a spider monster, they were purple, and had a dark red vest. Red somewhat puffy pants. And nice boots.
“Ahuhuhuhu I am so sorry dearie~ I didn't mean to bump into you, ahuhuhu~~~” The purple spider said.
“It's completely fine, you didn't mean it.” Toriel said gently.
“That is correct dearie~ I am just dropping a letter off for my pen pal~” Muffet said.
“Me too. Is that not curious? Hehe!” Toriel chuckled, and then realized something.
“Are we “Pen Pals”? That is very likely.” Toriel asked.
“Ahuhuhuhu~ if that is the case, then would you mind going somewhere with me, dearie?” Muffet asked.
“That was my intent with sending this letter… but I am not sure if I am ready for something like that.” Toriel said.
“Well dearie~ I think we should take it slow then?” Muffet asked.
“Yes, I think that would be nice, a walk in the park sounds like a good start.” Toriel said.
“Well then dearie~~~ I think a walk would be amazing~” Muffet said.
“Then let us start. I do hope wherever this ends up, it will be nice there.” Toriel said.
“Me too dearie~~~” Muffet laughed as they both walked together to the park.
And they both truly did hope wherever they ended up at the end, be it together, or apart, was beautiful.
