Chapter Text

Working part-time proved to be far more confusing and overwhelming than Sakura ever could have imagined.

He's avoiding snapping at another fussy customer, brows twitching badly, and fists curling on themselves. The screaming was making his head hurt, and he wanted the woman to stop. Really bad. It was getting really, really bad. He couldn't really pounce on them, since it'd get him in trouble. Besides, Furin is volunteering. He couldn't really just- jump in and punch them. He'd get in trouble with Hiragi.

"Excuse me." Suo smoothly cut in, walking up to the customer "You're making a disturbance in the store. It'd be better if you leave." he advised with a smile.

"What?! I'm not leaving until this dumb cashier accepts the coupons!" they exclaimed, aggressively pointing at him.

"Ma'am. These are expired. Sakura-kun has told you that several times already." Suo told them, clamping a tight hand on the customer's shoulder "Again, I advise that you leave."

"UGH! Whatever!!" they left the bag that Sakura had put the products they planned on purchasing on the floor, stomping out of the store. Nothing had spilled, thankfully.

"I have so much more respect for cashiers." Sakura groaned, banging his head softly against the register. Unfortunately, he hit the open button with his forehead on accident, which caused him to let out a loud 'OOF!' when the register opened, hitting him in the stomach. Suo snorted, covering his mouth with his hand.

"Don't laugh, bastard." Sakura hissed as he closed the metal box, glaring at his vice-captain. Suo just smiled.

"My bad!"

"Do you guys need help with that?" Nirei asked, already picking up the bag of items in his hands.

"Thanks." Sakura groaned out, still recovering from getting hit with the register. Nirei looked obviously concerned, sliding his arm through the bag's handles before walking over to him.

"Are you okay, Sakura-san? Do you need me to take over the register?" he asked, looking at the other with a worried glint in his eyes. Sakura, however, shook his head. He'd rather not put Nirei through the hell of dealing with annoying customers. Sure, it sucked having to deal with getting yelled at, he admitted that. But it wasn't like he wasn't used to it. Not to mention, Nirei was like a rug most of the time. He didn't mean it as an insult, but the blond would let others walk over him to please. He'd rather get the brunt of the yelling than Nirei.

"Nirei-kun, how about you and Sakura-kun go on break? I'll take over the cash register." Suo suggested with a smile, just as concerned as Nirei. Honestly, that break sounded like heaven. Nirei nodded, handing the bag to someone else Sakura didn't really recognize since he was still slightly doubled over. But Nirei grabbed his hand and led him to the break room, letting him sit down and breathe.

"Are you okay?" Nirei asked, placing a hand on Sakura's back. The other paused, brain wracking slowly.

"...I have so much respect for people who have to deal with those assholes without being able to snap back." he said after a few seconds of silence, and Nirei just let out a chuckle in response.

"Yeah, me too."
