Chapter Text
“Wait… You actually know how to play Othello?”
Togame looked up at Sakura in surprise.
“Wait! Sakura! You know how to play!? I didn’t know you were into tactical strategic board games! Do you play anything else?”
Whipping out his notebook Nirei prepared himself to take notes on this newfound piece of information.
Sakura couldn’t understand what the hell was so suprising about him being able to play one of the most common games known to man.
“What- WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!? OF COURSE I KNOW HOW TO PLAY OTHELLO! YOU’D HAVE TO BE STUPID NOT TO!”
Furin and Shishitorn were having one of their monthly get-togethers,and Furin was currently the one hosting, with everybody on the rooftop kicking back and conversing with one another.
“Sakura… Does that mean if somebody didn’t know how to play… they’re stupid?” Suo ,the sly bastard, asked sweetly.
“Hah!?”
“You see Kurita here has never played before!”
Kurita seeing where this was heading tried to flee, on for Suo,
who was already several steps ahead,
to grab him by the shoulder and force him to play along.
”Oh my, Look how heartbroken he is!”
“Captain! I-”
”No! I didn’t mean- NOT LIKE THAT”
Exasperated Sakura glared at Suo,
Before sending a silent plea to Nirei,
help me!
But, Nirei, ever oblivious, ignored him,
”Sakura! We should play a game! I’m assuming Togame knows how to play! We can have a friendly match Furin against Shishitoren!”
Sakura who was still trying to apologise to Kurita,
who really wasn’t harbouring any feelings other than guilt.
Finally stopped and turned back to Nerei,
“Hah?”
Togame smiled,
”That sounds like fun, but we’re going to need an Othello board, and unfortunately I don’t have one on me as of the moment. Unless you guys happen to have a board?”
”Ah… You’re Right… I guess there’s no helping it.”
Nerei slumped in disappointment.
Sakura felt bad seeing Nerei, who’d seemed so excited but moments ago,
”Don’t worry, maybe next month, I can play a round or two with Shaggy Hair. But we can always play a couple of rounds at school tomorrow.”
“Hey guys! What’s happening over here?”
Umemiya walked over towards their group with Choji not too far behind.
“Togame! You hanging out with Sakura-chan!?”
”Yeah, turns out Othello-kun knows how to play Othello! We were gonna play a round but we don’t have a board… We’re planning to reschedule it for our next meet up!”
”But that’s going to be a while from now.”
Umemiya commented thoughtfully,
”Ah, wait now that I think about it…! Hey! Mizuki!”
Umemiya turned to call for the Leader of Komoku team.
”Yes, Umemiya.”
Mizuki turned to see the commotion.
”Do you happen to have an Othello board?”
Mizuki paused to think before replying,
”I think I might have one in my class room, want me to go and grab it?”
”Yeah that’d be great! Thank you!”
Umemiya glanced back at the group,
”I didn’t know Sakura was into strategic board games!”
”Why does everybody keep saying that?!”
“Because isn’t it obvious?”
Suo smiled,
”You aren’t exactly the type of person to think before they act.”
”I THINK PLENTY! BESIDES!WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH OTHELLO!?”
”Well Sakura it’s a game of planning. But as I said earlier-”
”That’s it, you and me outside!”
”Umemiya! I found it!”
Mizuki returned just in time with an Othello board in his arms and…
”Shogi?”
Togame inquired seeing the second board game,
”Yes! And chess! I figured I might as well bring it along! It isn’t everyday I meet somebody else interested in these kind of games! I hope you don’t mind if I spectate?”
”Thank you, Mizuki! And I’m sure Togame and Sakura here wouldn’t mind! Right?”
”I’m fine with it!”
Togame smiled casually before turning to Sakura.
”I guess.”
Sakura hadn’t expected the crowd to nearly double in size and yet here he was.
”But it’s been a while since I last played.”
”That’s fine! But I won’t go easy on you, alright Othello-kun?”
”IF YOU GO EASY ON ME I’LL BEAT YOUR-”
”Alright now, let’s start this game, yeah? Not a fight!”
Umemiya intervened.
”Now, Togame you’re black, Sakura, you’re white. Now who’s first?”
”Togame goes first since he’s using black, you don’t know how to play Umemiya?”
Sakura glances at the leader of Furin.
”I haven’t played much to be honest.”
Umemiya rubbed the back of his head sheepishly with a small smile.
Sakura nodded, and then set up the board game.
He placed two white pieces and two black pieces in the centre, and then turned to Togame.
”Alright, Let’s start.”
