Work Text:
Every morning spent beside Sanemi always feels peaceful.
“Sanemi?” Giyuu says softly, not wanting to break this quiet moment.
“Yes?” He asks as he plays with Giyuu's hair, braiding them with skilled and delicate fingers. Giyuu would gladly spend his days being touched by Sanemi, loved by his gentle caress.
“Have you ever thought about settling?”
“What do you mean?” Sanemi wonders, titling his head slightly.
“I mean after this is all over. After we defeat Muzan,” he says.
“Sometimes I do,” he says, shrugging his shoulders, hands still braiding his hair. “I guess… it can be something we all wish for, at some point. You?”
“I do,” he replies. “If I survive… I want to live peacefully for the rest of my days.”
“You'll survive, Giyuu,” Sanemi firmly says, as if even thinking about it was too much. “I'm sure of it.”
Giyuu smiles. “I hope you'll survive. I don't want to lose you.”
Sanemi keeps braiding his hair and Giyuu watches as if that was all he ever wanted — being here with him, so close he can hear him breathing. He wants to settle with him so much it hurts. Giyuu wishes he could spend his life with Sanemi.
“I can hear you thinking, Giyuu,” he murmurs playfully. “Is there something you want to ask me? You might hide it well, but your pretty eyes do not.”
“Sanemi?”
“Yes?”
“I want to settle with you. To spend our peaceful life together, and grow into a life without demons. I want to be with you so badly.”
Sanemi puts his hand under Giyuu's chin, tilting his head up. “You really want that with me?” He asks, lips so close to his that Giyuu feels like dying. “With me?” Sanemi asks, as if he struggled to believe someone might want to be with him. To build a life that goes beyond fighting and surviving.
“I want that so much,” he says. “I want you.”
Sanemi gives his lips a soft lingering kiss and then lays his forehead against Giyuu's. They remain like this for a while, Giyuu can feel Sanemi’s breath on his skin. Sanemi moves away slightly and gently caresses his cheek, and Giyuu leans into his touch with a smile.
“I want that too,” he murmurs, voice so soft that it makes him want to cry.
Then Sanemi holds him tightly, burying his face in the crook of Giyuu’s neck, lightly kissing his skin. “Just make sure to survive,” he whispers against Sanemi’s skin. “Don’t leave me.”
Giyuu simply wraps his arms around him, holding him tightly.
“Sanemi?” He murmurs shyly.
“Yes?”
“Can you keep braiding my hair? Your touch is so gentle.”
Sanemi smiles. “Okay.”
He begins to gently braid his hair, and Giyuu thinks that this too could be a way to settle down. Nothing is certain except for the feelings they have for each other, and that is enough.
