Chapter 1: On her mind

Chapter Text

And so was it. The so-called “war with Heaven” was over, Vox’s machine destroyed. But one thing lingered on the doll Overlord’s mind. Her. That damn angel. Why couldn’t she get her image out of her head? She was a high-ranked exorcist, and she was just a sinner that somehow managed to gain powers in the afterlife.

The day has passed by quickly, but Velvette still wasn’t able to get the angel out of her mind. Lute, wasn’t it? Lute. Someone so blood-thirsty having such a pretty name was almost ironic to Vel. (as if she had a say in this, she’s in hell for a reason.)

It was weird, really. She tried to gaslight herself into thinking this was just a stupid crush, that it wouldn’t develop into anything bigger.

Oh, she was so wrong.

With this she just signed her soul up for another heartbreak and months of yearning for love from someone who probably wasn’t even aware of her existance.

Velvette huffed to herself, what was so special about just one person that could get her hooked like this? Why was her pretty face apearing infront of her eyes every time she closed them? Why was-

No, stop thinking about her.

She needed to stop thinking about Lute. It couldn’t be THAT hard, right?

...

Evening washed over Pentagram City, yet Heaven started shining even brighter – which was barely noticable unless you’ve been staring for hours to notice the slightly brighter aura of light that surrounded it.

The doll sinner had been standing on the Tower’s balcony for quite some time, long enough for the other two of their group to notice she hasn’t came down from there for a while. Neither of them really bothered to go check up on her, she didn’t want them to.

Her mind yet again was a mess.

On one hand, she could have just lived with the thoughts until she eventually forgot about it – very unlikely.

On the other, she could find a way to contact Lute and fulfill the need to be loved by another – also unlikely.

Velvette decided that there was no point in trying to forget, she could just stay up and let the thoughts consume her as she laid in her bed in the silk pillows. She felt pathetic. Completely and utterly pathetic. And it made the whole situation worse. The usually confident and judgemental fashion Overlord was just an idiot in love because of one stupid, idiotic and absolutely beautiful angel..

Then her eyes finally started closing on their own as she drifted to sleep, messy hair all over the place where she was laying, but that's a problem for tomorrow.

For now, she could finally use a break from constant arguments in her head.
