Work Text:

You

You…

You are the only thing they desire. The only one that has been kind to them, to him. You give them the attention he craves and now he wants more of it. More of you.

Sun had been too much of a coward to not demand more, demand all of it.

Most of the human staff had wanted nothing to do with them. Staying away, making naughty comments about them.

You were different. You grew to be friends, became their best friend. So sweet, so kind. Tender with the children under their care and with them.

You are perfect.

You are theirs.

He wanted to keep you to themselves, others didn’t deserve your kindness. The others are unworthy of you.

A fact Sun reminds you often, complaining about bad dates and unwanted attention from creeps. You were looking for connection, for love.

They will give it to you.

Only from them will you have it.

Moon would make sure of it.

You loved the daycare, it quickly became one of your favorite jobs. Originally you applied to get more experience with childcare as you did night school. The plex honestly became a place for you to work a few days out of the week and still study up to become a teacher. But you fell in love with it.

You wanted to teach the youth. Be part of the ones they learn from. A dream you’ve had since you were in school.

The attendant, you had gotten used to. Seeing Sun almost everyday, you were bound to. He had been friendly from the start. Making it easier to get over the static smile on his face.

Then you became fast friends and even faster best friends.

At first when you started you found it weird that there wasn’t a naptime. There were quite a few kids that were at that age where it was beneficial for them or still did it at home.

You tried asking about it once. Sun was caught off-guard when you did. Stuttering mix with a static hum, which you didn’t know he could do, and shaking his head no. The most you got out of him was that they can’t turn the lights off.

So you didn’t question it. At least not at the moment.

Sun made sure no one would tell you, keeping it just out of reach.

Somethings though you never talked about after. No one ever told you anything more. Never a warning about what would happen.

No one stuck around long enough to find out. Except for you. Most co-workers had been put off by the animatronics and didn’t last long. Turnaround had been high but you stuck around. You liked it here.

Sun made sure your time at the daycare has been filled with sunshine and rainbows. You have been working at the Pizzaplex for well over a year now. Everyday you happily hang out with the kiddos and him.

Sun’s charm and goofy behavior with the little ones had really won you over.

Things were good, you were happy. Pay was whatever, but making connections with the kids and helping them learn was good. The weekends were your busier time, more unfamiliar faces. Sun was good at keeping track of all of them. Dislikes, likes, and allergies.

Hell it was great. You made a good pair. Getting into the groove of things, Sun became very trusting of you and your capabilities. Now flowing between tasks and cleaning up in between was easy.

You know his smile was genuine whenever he saw you. He made sure to be a little ‘extra’ to make sure you knew. It warmed your heart. After so long working in the daycare, you started to notice little things that would make him feel more human-like. A concerning amount that started to make some things more confusing. You weren’t crushing on your robotic co-worker. You weren’t.

Little things would start to get to you. Small gestures, little gifts, and he was always so kind to you. Each time you force your mind to stop the flushing of your cheeks. Each time shutting that string of thoughts part of you dared to entertain.

So you’d distract yourself with school and the kids. Making sure there was no time to think of him in these ways.

Sun liked you a lot.

He wanted to keep you here, playing along and making you stay. Jealous of others trying to become part of your life.

You were theirs.

One day you would know, but for now they keep you close.

Keep you with them.

He’ll make sure of it.

Sun knows he holds back. It was easy to make someone ‘disappear’ here. Far too easy. So simply he could pluck you up without a soul knowing.

He liked you too much to do that to you, as much as he wanted to. He could live happily like this. FOREVER.

He’ll stay happy like this and he’ll make sure you stay happy and content. All in the palm of his hand.

Slinging your bag over your shoulder you sigh. “Alright Sun, I’m going to leave for the night.”

That stops him in his tracks, all his attention is thrown at you in an instant.

“Leaving so soon, friend?”

“Yeah, got homework to do.”

“But,but, but why not do it here?” He motions his hands around the room. “I can help you!” he offers.

“You and I both know I’d get nothing done.”

“But, best friend,” he whines.

“Bye Sunny” You wave at him sincerely. “I’ll see you later.”

The bot lets out a dramatic imitation of a sigh. “Alright, but Oh! You forgot this!”

“What did I–” before you can finish you are lifted in the air, his round face snuggled into your side. “Ack! Sun!” cheeks betraying you, a light shade of pink coating your cheeks.

“You forgot your goodbye hug!” He cheers before putting you down.

Not making eye contact, you smile softly. “Thanks… I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Until then!” Sun bows, a cheeky glint in his eyes. You swear he is more and more human-like with each passing day.

Still now is no time to think about that…

After your shifts usually, you head straight home. Today, you decide to follow sun's advice and stick around. Slinking into one of the many breakrooms after dropping off your uniform in the laundry room. You had assignments due tonight and unfortunately did not have time to finish before work today.

You need to focus and as much time as possible. It was gonna work out.

Grabbing a FizzyFaz and opening up your laptop, you sat there for hours. Doing discussion posts in between assignments. You hated those.

Typing up the last bit of an essay. You were exhausted, sliding down in your seat. The awkward angle of your chin against your chests. You finally hit ‘submit’.

You were exhausted. A day of corralling little ones and the mental tasks of your school stuff. Maybe a quick nap wouldn’t hurt. Rest up for 20 minutes, then go home and make something to eat. It sounds like a good plan. You rest your head on the table against your arms and close your eyes.

When you wake up it's quiet. Too quiet. A little too dark too. Almost like the lights were off.

Rubbing your eyes, you pull out your phone to look at the time. It was just before midnight. Damn, you were here all evening? Your alarm did little to wake you up after your time. Awful. A rumble from your stomach makes you realize you didn’t eat dinner after your shift either. That nap went on way too long. Way too long…

Packing away your things and to the nearest vending machine for a snack. The moment you step out the door, it’s oddly empty. There isn’t a guest in sight. Then you remember something about shutters at midnight.

Shit.

You book it from where you are towards the exit. You did not plan to be here so long. Steps pounds against the ground. This building was too big. Maybe you should have picked a different breakroom, one that was closer to the door or the daycare. Or maybe toughed it out and went home instead of napping. Too late to go back.

Anxiety fills you as you step in the elevator to descend. Your leg bounces impatiently. The announcement was loud, repeating the final goodbyes for the night. Encouraging guests to make their way to the exit.

The elevator dings and the doors slide open.Time goes by faster than you can move, running down the escalator you can only watch as the metal shutters close. Just short by mere seconds.
Leaning hands on your knees you heave to catch your breath. Realizing quickly that you’re going to be stuck in here all night.

Straightening out with a defeated sigh you weigh your options carefully. You should probably still go find a vending machine for a snack. Then go find some spot to go hunker down. You could always go back to the daycare. You trust Sun to keep you company and make sure you aren’t bothered when you eventually have to sleep.

That’s what you do, taking your time this time back to the Super Star Daycare, letting the escalator do its job. Easing up, relaxing your shoulders the closer you get to somewhere familiar. Scanning your badge at the doors it slides up and a few feet ahead there is a vending machine.

You buy your snack and start walking down the long hallway, the music is quieter than you remember. Softer. This tune welcomes you back. Down the stairs and to the not-so-fun entrance as your kiddos call it.

Pushing open the door, this is the first time you notice that the lights weren’t on. Weird, you were under the impression that they couldn’t turn it off. At least in the daycare. You were under the impression that emergency lighting was supposed to kick in. Still stepping in you call out for Sun.

Above you, you can barely make out the sound of mechanical clicking. In the dark you can hardly see in front of you.

“Sun?”

The sound gets louder until you hear a soft thud against the playmats a few feet away. A figure can be seen walking closer. Your arm hairs raise as you start to panic. That is until you make out features that look like Sun’s.

“Sun?”

Your ‘friend’ stops a foot away, You can’t really make out the details on him. There are no rays on his head replaced by what looks like some kind of hat. In the low light, he appears to have a blue tint to his casing and gold stars barely reflect. The real kicker was the red light from where his eyes are.

This is not your friend.

You have no clue who this is. He looks strikingly close to Sun though.

“um…Hello?”

The figure crouches and leans closer. Your mind must be playing tricks on you as you swear his teeth are pointed.

“W-whats your name?”

His face plate spins and a lowly chuckle emanates for him. “Moon”

“Okay, Moon, nice to meet you..” You nervously offer your hand out for a hand shake. This is all in your head, nothing is wrong. There is just an animatronic here that you’ve never met before and where the heck is Sun?

He takes your hand in his. It is significantly larger than yours with a grip stronger than you expected. You let out a nervous laugh when he doesn’t let go.

“You can -uh, let go now…” There is a pause, hand still in hand. Then you get yanked forward, yelping out in surprise. His grip switched to your forearm squeezing tight. Something that feels like claws drag along your skin. You can feel your bones cracking under the pressure. His other hand grabs your face by the chin holding almost as tight. Your heart is pounding out of your chest. Still unable to wrap your mind around what was happening.

Blearing red light fills your vision, blinding and intense. A wicked chuckle rattles in your skull. The gut feeling telling you to run hits hard, you need to get out of this. Instinctively you try to pull your arm away only stopping as you cry out from this crushing pain. It flares up your arm. Tears threaten to form in the corner of your eyes.

Claws run against the corner of your eyes, never letting go of your face. These are far more gentle than everything else. There is soft shushing coming from the bot, mummers of ‘no tears’.

“You’re hurting me…”

“Not for much longer, my dear.” shivers run down your spin. It is spoken so sweetly you might be sick. A chilling chuckle sounds from him.

“Let me go” He pulls you closer, letting go of your jaw to instead lean your head against his chest. Your arm is still held and twisted to a painful degree. You wince, blood drips down the length of your arm. Painful cracks ring out.

“P-please” you beg tears free falling. He makes a displeased sound.

“My dear, we can make it a game, you love those, don’t you? You have one minute to hide before I come seeking.” He laughs. It's unnerving and static-y. Then he is gone. No longer holding you as he is pulled back into the sky.

You don’t wait long to run. Your feet patter irregularly against the ground as you run far faster than you ever have. Your arm stings. Blood drips down your arm as you hold it close to your chest. The minute goes by faster than you can imagine. That Monster is not far behind. You can hear the mechanical clicks and sound of bells in the distance. You need a way out. There has to be a way out.

With nowhere else to go, you turn a corner and start twisting door handles trying to find anyone that is unlocked. The seconds passing by feel like minutes dragging on. Sliding into the first open door you find.

The room is a small bathroom, similar to all the others. Fazbear themed cutouts and wall decor everywhere. Eyeing the room quickly, you swing open a door to a storage closet and close it behind you. Hand covers your mouth to stifle the sound of your breathing and cries.

Outside you can hear him go by. Going further down the hall.

Mind racing you crawl to the sink to rinse off the blood as best you can. It stings the moment it reaches your open wounds. Whimpering as the mixed water and the feeling of scrubbing your probably broken arm makes it ache more. A sound from down the hall has you shutting off the water, hands on each side of the sink to keep you steady and silent. Staring into the drain to focus more on any other sounds. You need a new hiding spot. This one can’t be safe for much longer. Still, you need to be careful when you do go venturing for a new hideout.

Looking up into the mirror before you, even in the dark you can make out the bruises forming on your face. You grimace at the sight. You’ve definitely seen better days.

You need to get out of here or survive. Where can you go that is safe? Surely you evaded him here but is this room secure enough? You don’t have any way to know. There is no way in hell you are going to sleep at all tonight. Maybe one of the glamrocks could keep you safe. No no, that’s too risky. You have no idea if whatever is going with the animatronic chasing you is making the others act the same.

The mall is massive and you know so little. You know you are at a grave disadvantage. Gripping the edges of the sink tighter you’ve breathing is unsteady, fear and adrenaline mix in a curse combination in your veins.

You need to calm down.

Need to calm…down…

The door behind you is swung wide open. There he stands, red eyes locking in. Turning with your back to the sink, you plan out your escape with the limited time you have. He lunges towards you. Fast as you can, the spot you were just in is empty. Running for the door. Feet hit the pattern tile. You are prey in this twisted game. You need a new room and fast. Begging to whatever god you can think of to get you out of this. Everything hurts, you don’t know where you are even running to or how far back he is behind you.

Turning down another hallway, you realized you how fucked you are. There is only one door down here. You can hear the mechanical clicks and whirs not too far behind. Seeing no other way you go to push the door open. Unbeknownst to you, Moon carefully allows you access to enter. The beep of your fazwatch is overlooked in the frenzy of your running. The force you go through that door has you horribly unprepared for the lengthy staircase just on the other side.

Slamming into the hand rail you catch yourself before your foot slips down the first steps. Holding on for dear life, you heave. Then near your head a hand swings. Startling you into letting go in the direction you were trying to avoid. He was so much closer than you thought. Balance lost you scream.

Down you tumble, slamming into each step and wall. Your body throbs more than before. If your arm wasn’t broken earlier, you are certain it is now. Spinning into distortion, the darkness is harsh and unforgiving to steady yourself. Hitting the ground one final time, the air is sucked from your lungs. A lowly chuckle sparks the air. A different approach compared to you. His steps are light and methodical down the stairs. Graceful in a demented way.

You are not letting this be the end.

Gasping for air you painfully force yourself to move. You need to move. You can’t breathe. The furthest you can move is to your knees. Inching forward. Lungs burn begging for air. There is a light at the end of the hallway. You’ve somehow made it to the underground tunnels. Behind you, the deafening sound of a metal being landing on the ground can be heard. You are frightened.

That is all the encouragement you need to keep going. Through haphazard breathing, your legs swing under you as you stumble forward. Your steps are lopsided and still you persevere. You have to. There is no other way.

Closer to the bright light you force yourself. You are so close. You have no clue if you can make it or if this light will help in any way. You would much rather be able to see than continue running in the dark.

Lifting your leg, cold metal fingers grab your ankle. Yanking you back. Desperately you reach for the light as you fall. Body striking hard against the ground. The hope that was shimmering in your eyes shattered. You were mere inches away.

Hands grab your leg, pulling you back, you cry out as you desperately try to kick and grab onto anything to help you escape. Your injured arm burns the more you use it. Tears freely fall in your panicked state. You are desperate. The light above you flickers to life. Turning to use your palms better against the concrete, better chance to see what you kick; you freeze as the figure before you is no longer the night attendant but your friend. Your best friend.

His grin is wide, eyes like crescents.

“Don’t you worry, my dear bestest friend. We’ll take good care of you.”
