The One Time Jimin Didn't Mind Jungkook's Forgetfulness

Summary:

Jungkook and Jimin fake being mated to save Jungkook from being deported and Jimin being married off by his parents. But things aren't always as they seem and no one is surprised by their sudden mating.

Notes:

For my secret santa recipient dagusts. This ended up way more fluffy than I anticipated. Hope you enjoy!

Prompt: Omegaverse mating of convenience where Jikook decide to mate each other. They think it will be hard to fake being into each other but everyone surprising believes it very easily/almost expected it.

This fic is unbetaed, sorry for any errors.

FYI -I know nothing about immigration laws, or spousal visas.

Work Text:

“Mr Jeon,

Please be informed that your temporary student visa is set to expire on November 30, 2025. By 11:59 on this date you must return to your country of origin, South Korea. If you do not comply with this order, you will be contacted by Immigration Canada and forcibly removed from the country. Any questions may be directed to the email listed below. The Canadian Government thanks you for your contribution to our country and wishes you all the best in your future endeavors. “

“Ugh!” groaned Jungkook, rubbing his face. Fuck! How had he forgotten about his student visa. Well probably, since he dropped out of school last year and started working at the tattoo studio. November 30th was less than a month away. On a whim he had decided to check his former school email and was surprised to see numerous emails from Immigration Canada, he couldn’t even remember the last time he had logged in. University had not been his thing, it was his parents dream not his, and after he decided to stop trying to live up to their expectations of what his life should be he hadn’t looked back. Maybe he should have then he would have had time to work around this; now he was just screwed. He could just hear Jimin, “I told you to switch your emails...” Fuck! Jimin was going to kill him! Back to Korea, back to his parent’s house, what was he going to do?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hey Mom!” Jimin said, answering his cell as he walked down the street to the nearest subway station.

“Jimin, your father and I would like you to come to dinner tomorrow night. There is something we would like to discuss.”

He could tell immediately from his mother's tone that this was not going to be a pleasant conversation.

“What’s this about?” he asked dodging a teen zipping by on an electric scooter. He was pretty sure he knew what this was about; his parents thought it was way past time that he was mated to an alpha and having pups. “Is this about getting mated again, cause I told you..”

His mother cut him off before he could finish. “Your father and I have taken matters into our own hands. We have several well-suited alphas for you to choose from, and we would like you to have a say, but we can decide if you refuse,” she said firmly.

Jimin stopped in his tracks. What! They couldn’t do that. There was no way he was mating some alpha his parents chose. There was no way he was mating anyone right now.
“I’m not...” he started but his mother cut him off again.

“If you don’t get mated before the end of the year, your father and I are cutting off the funding for your school. We can discuss this more tomorrow. We will expect you at the house at 7. I really must go. We’ll see you tomorrow, and Jimin, this is a family matter, so I don’t need to tell you that Jungkook is not invited. Why you choose to associate with that alpha all the time I don’t understand, no wonder you don’t have an alpha of your own yet,” she remarked as she hung up.

Jimin froze, staring at his now silent phone. He was in the first year of his PHD in mathematics at the University of Toronto. If his parents cut off his funding there was no way he could continue. He never thought they would resort to something like this. He knew his parents disliked him hanging out with unmated alphas, particularly Jungkook, especially since his new job as a tattoo artist, but this seemed drastic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jungkook banged his head against the bar, “Yoongi what am I going to do? I can’t go back home! My parents are going to make me work for them and probably get married to some daughter of one of their friends that I never even met.”

Yoongi rolled his eyes as he poured Jungkook a drink of whiskey and pushed the glass towards him. Jungkook raised his head and downed the drink in one shot.

“You wouldn’t be in this mess, if you just checked your emails occasionally. Didn’t it occur to you at all that you that your renewal was coming up?”

Jungkook just glared at his friend. He should have gone to see Jin, he would have sympathized with him instead of lecturing him. Who was he kidding, out of all his friends, other than Jimin, Yoongi was the most levelheaded. Not only did he own his own bar, he was also a sought-after music producer and all just after graduating with his business degree.

“I don’t need to reminded, I know I messed up, I just need to know how to fix this,” he said pushing his glass back towards his friend.

“Well, I don’t think you have many options left,” he said, filling the glass again and pushing it back to Jungkook. “You could try to re-enroll in school, but that may be too late.”

“Not an option,” he stated flatly throwing back the drink and pushing it towards Yoongi again. “I would rather die, in fact I was dying, if I have to sit through one more accounting lecture...”

Yoongi shook his head, “You’ve had enough. Jimin will have my ass if you pass out drunk here again. You could not go back, but I don’t think jail is your thing. I guess you could always mate someone, although who’s going to mate you, I don’t know. Have you talked to Jimin? Maybe he has an idea? Could you get a work visa? Is there a demand for Korean tattoo apprentices?”

“No, I already looked into it,” he sighed not realizing his friend’s sarcasm, “and no I haven’t spoken to Jimin, I’m not ready for that lecture yet”.

“Well, you better get ready he just walked in.”

Jungkook turned towards the door. Jimin approached looking down, his usual sunny disposition gone. Did he know already? How did he find out?

“Hey,” he said, sliding onto the stool beside Jungkook as Yoongi slid him his usual drink.

“You look like you could use this. What a pair you two make tonight. You are going to scare my customers away with all your negative energy.”

“You have no idea, my life is over”, Jimin moaned, “I don’t know what I'm going to do.”

Jimin downed his drink in one gulp and pushed it back towards Yoongi. Yoongi raised his eyebrows and looked at Jungkook, who shrugged in return. Jimin was not known for drowning his sorrows.

“My parents are mating me off to some alpha of their choosing, oh sorry, I get to choose from a line up, or else they are cutting me off,” he stated and downed his newly refilled glass, pushing it towards Yoongi again.

“What!” exclaimed both Yoongi and Jungkook at the same time.

“Yes, apparently proper omegas like myself should be mated and having pups not doing their PHD or hanging around with undesirable alphas, no offense,” he said tipping his newly re-filled glass towards Jungkook. “And if I don’t comply, they are cutting me off, which means I will have to quit school. Although I guess that’s going to happen anyway. Not many alphas are going to be ok with their mate in school and not home being a traditional omega. And if my parents are choosing, they have definitely picked from some outdated traditional family.”

Yoongi looked at his two friends, both looking like the world had just been pulled from their feet. Jungkook, clearly buzzed, was trying to grasp what his best friend was telling him, and Jimin looked downright distraught.

“Sounds like you two both have problems that could be easily fixed.” Both looked at him, confused. “Jungkook needs to get mated, and you need a mate, problem easily solved,” he said shrugging.

“Why do you need to get mated?” Jimin asked, confused as he turned to Jungkook beside him.

Jungkook gulped, ready for the lecture. “Ah, I forgot to renew my visa and I have to go home by the end of the month”

Instead of the lecture he was expecting Jimin just burst out laughing. The laughing quickly turned to tears and suddenly he was sobbing uncontrollably. Jungkook turned, hugging Jimin. “Hey, it will be okay. We’ll figure something out,” he said softly, rubbing Jimin’s back gently.

“I’m serious, you two should just get mated. I mean you two are already joined at the hip. It would solve both of your problems. Stay mated for a bit and then get divorced, problem solved. It doesn’t have to be a real mating other than in name.” Yoongi shrugged, leaning on the bar.

Jimin freed himself from Jungkook and wiped his eyes.

“Would that actually work?” he asked looking from Yoongi to Jungkook. “I mean for Kook? Would that allow him to stay? Wouldn’t they want some sort of proof or something?”

“My friend from Seoul married his girlfriend from Toronto last year. There was some paperwork and interviews with immigration. Nothing crazy. I can ask him if you want?” Yoongi said.

Jimin turned to Jungkook. “I mean my situation isn’t as serious as yours, you are actually getting kicked out of the country. I can always try to bring my parents around, but I don’t want to lose you, none of us do,” he said looking back at Yoongi.

Jungkook chewed his lip, maybe it was the alcohol, but it didn't’ sound like the stupidest idea. He and Jimin were best friends, they already practically lived together. They could easily pull this off for a few months or whatever time was needed, he was sure it didn’t have to be too long. Plus it would save Jimin being forced to mate some boring business suit his parents came up with. He grabbed a pretzel out of the bowl on the counter and fell to his knees beside Jimin. Jimin and Yoongi stopped talking and looked at Jungkook curiously.

“Jimin, will you do me the honor of becoming my mate?” he grinned holding up a pretzel.

Jimin laughed, turning red. “I would be honored Kook,” he laughed holding out his hand as Jungkook placed the pretzel on his finger. Yoongi laughed, shaking his head.

“Jimin and I are getting mated!” Jungkook shouted out to the bar as he stood hugging Jimin. “Drinks for everyone!”

The regulars at the bar all cheered. “Congrats!” “About time!” “Knew it!”

Yoongi smirked as he took in his friends being congratulated by those around them. It was just a matter of time before those two idiots got together. It was so obvious to everyone around them that they were so madly in love with each other. If it took something like a fake mating to finally push them together, so be it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ugh,” groaned Jungkook as he opened his eyes, pulling the blanket over his head. Why was it so bright. As he slowly woke up, he became aware of three things; one he was severely hung over, two he was not in his bed and from experience he gathered it was Jimin’s couch he was currently dying on, and three Jimin was awake and furiously typing on his laptop.

“What time is it?” he asked, poking his head out. Jimin was seated beside him, papers spread out over the couch, and concentrating on whatever it was he was so invested in.

“Noon,” Jimin replied looking up from his computer, “I ordered some hangover soup, it should be here soon.”

“You know me too well,” he said, sitting up. “What are you working on?”

Jimin looked at him seriously, his glasses taking up most of his face, his usual seriousness was diminished by his hair, which was currently sticking up in all directions.

“Just looking into your visa and what happens if we do get married, and what that involves. That is if you were serious last night?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Jungkook looked at his best friend and rubbed his face, “Yes of course, if you are ok with it. Let me wake up and we can talk about it.”

Just then there was a knock on the door. “Foods here,” Jimin said, getting up from the couch and going to the door. He returned, unwrapping the food and taking a seat next to Jungkook.

“So, what did you find out,” Jungkook said, slurping his soup from the couch once he was feeling half alive again.

“Well, we are short on time if we are going to do this. Your visa expires in a few weeks so we need to get married like ASAP and file the paperwork. After that you will be able to stay on a temporary spouse visa until they approve your official spousal visa. They will want statements from people who are close to us and then both of us will have to go for interviews about each other but it’s pretty straight forward. The main thing is convincing people that we are actually a couple and in love,” Jimin said blushing.

Jungkook tipped his bowl back as he finished his soup. His head was finally clearing, and he was able to think more clearly. He was never drinking like that again, ok maybe he would, but not anytime soon. After he and Jimin had announced their “mating” people had come up to them all night offering congratulations and giving them drinks in celebration.

‘Well people last night had no problem believing us and we’ve been best friends for years so we shouldn’t have any problems with the interviews. And our friends will have our backs. How would it work though? Would we have to move in together? And what about the mating part, would it be a true mating?” Jungkook asked, looking at Jimin shyly.

He didn't want to force Jimin into this, that was no better than what his parents were planning. Nor did he want to destroy Jimin’s chance at a true mating and a family in the future. “How long do we have to stay mated for?”

Jimin blushed even more, “Umm, it depends, at least a few years to avoid suspicion. We wouldn’t have to do a true mating in the sense of mating bites, especially today with the omega rights movement.”

Jungkook nodded. The last thing he wanted to do was tie Jimin to him or cause him any pain. Breaking a mating bond with bites could be fatal to an omega. Thankfully, it was not mandatory, and omegas now had the right to decide if they wanted the true bond or not.

Jimin stood picking up the takeout containers and moving to the kitchen. “We will have to move in together, otherwise it’s going to look weird. I was thinking you could just move in here, I have the extra room, and my apartment is bigger, plus you have a roommate.”

Jungkook nodded. “Will they do home checks? Like do we need to worry about them showing up randomly?”

“No, I checked. They can come see where we are living but they must let us know beforehand.”

“Ok, that’s good,” Jungkook said, trying to think of how to ask his next question. “So, what about dating and stuff? I mean obviously this isn’t a real mating, other than on paper, but what if you meet someone or want to bring someone home?” he asked, feeling slightly nauseous. Even though it wouldn’t be real, the thought of Jimin with someone else made him feel uneasy. Must be a natural alpha response?

Jimin blushed again. “I guess we just figure it out as we go,” he shrugged. “I’m not really into dating right now as you know, with my thesis and everything there is just no time, and no offensive but most of the alphas I’ve met kinda sucked.”

Jungkook laughed, “Ya, me too. I’m sick of the dating scene right now and the pointless hookups, so we can figure it out if it comes up.”

“Stud Jungkook, I’d never thought I’d see the day you weren’t interested in dating,” laughed Jimin.

“Ok, so when are we doing this then?” he asked, leaning on the kitchen island looking at Jimin.

“I was thinking this weekend, unless that’s too fast for you? I was going to text the group to come over later and we could figure it out.”

“Sure, this weekend is fine, might as well get it done as soon as possible. I’ll go tell Taylor I’m moving out, but I don’t think he’ll really care. Now that he and Ashley have hooked up it’s only a matter of time till they don’t want me around anyway. You get to tell your mom though, I’m not going anywhere near that conversation.”

Jimin paled as Jungkook laughed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimin was still in shock as he walked down the hallway to his apartment. His conversation with his parents had gone better than he had expected, way better in fact. He had been expecting a battle but instead his parents had seemed happy. His mom had even said that she was hoping their ultimatum would push Jungkook to finally step up. He wasn’t sure what to make about that. He had always thought his parents hated Jungkook, when in fact it appeared they were only upset that he didn’t seem like he wanted a serious relationship. Now that his parents thought they were actually committing to each other they were more than supportive, even offering to pay for the wedding. Jimin's mom had been a little thrown off by the abruptness of everything, but she got this grin like she was in on a secret. Jimin was sure that she thought he was with pup, and there was nothing more she wanted than grand pups. Jungkook was going to die laughing when he heard.

As he approached his apartment, he could hear laughter coming from inside. The gang must already be here, he thought as he went inside.

“Jimin!” yelled more than one voice as he entered seeing everyone sitting around the living room. Their group of friends had met during university and had remained a close group despite them all going in different directions with jobs and even families now. Jimin was the only one still in university, now as a grad student, but they still got together on a regular basis.

“So, I hear congratulations are in order,” laughed Jin jumping up and hugging Jimin. “About time Kook made an honest man out of you.”

“Shut up,” he said, laughing and pushing Jin away.

“Well, you are in one piece still, so things must have gone ok with you mom,” Jungkook said coming from the kitchen and giving Jimin a bottle of Soju.

Jimin sat down with his friends, who were already eating and drinking. “It was weird, she seemed happy about it.”

Tae, the wild spirit of the group, started choking on his drink. “You sure you were at the right house?” he laughed.

“They seemed to think we were already together and that Kook was stringing me along or something. As soon as they found out he was going to make a commitment, they were all for it. I also think my mom thinks I’m pregnant...”

Now it was Jungkook’s time to choke.

“Careful you’re going to kill Jungkook,” Joon said as he patted Jungkook on the back.

Jungkook wiped the tears from his eyes, “I can’t believe they thought we were already together. I always thought they hated me, especially your mom.”

Neither one of them noticed the looks their friends gave each other. Tae actually rolled his eyes. Apparently, the only one who didn’t think Jungkook and Jimin were already together was Jungkook and Jimin. Their friends had a longstanding bet about when they would finally get together. Although not quite the circumstances they had anticipated, Yoongi had still won. Now there was a new bet, one that was when they would actually realize they were in love with each other. Yoongi was confident that he would win once again, betting it would be before the end of the year. Hopefully it wouldn’t be as long as the initial bet which had lasted over five years.

Jungkook realized that Jimin probably didn’t have anything to lose by not going ahead with their plan. “Jimin are you sure you want to do this? It sounds like your parents would be more understanding than you thought and I don’t want to...”

Jimin cut him off, “There is no way I’m letting you go back to Korea. Anway what about our pup?”

Their friends burst out laughing as Jungkook looked like he was going to puke.

“Ok, we don’t have much time,” Jimin stated, getting back into his organizational mode. “Yoongi already said we could have the wedding at the bar and Jin we were hoping you could cater?”

Jin nodded, “And Mia is ready to be your flower girl, she loves her uncles.” Jimin smiled. Jin’s two year old daughter was the sweetest little girl and was doted on by all her uncles.

“And I’ll marry you,” exclaimed Tae, slapping Jungkook on the back. "I already took the test online and am certified in case anyone else also wants to get mated?” he asked, looking around. Yoongi threw a pillow at him, hitting him in the head and causing the rest of them to burst out laughing.

“Ok, so it’s just the guest list then,” Jimin said as he walked into the kitchen to look for something to make a list. He felt someone behind him and turned around to see Hobi looking concerned.

“You sure this is ok?” he asked, looking concerned.

Jimin sighed. Only Hobi knew the real truth; the truth he had only spoken once. One drunk night years ago Jimin had broken down and had spilled his secret to Hobi. Jimin had foolishly thought that maybe Jungkook would finally notice him but his hopes were dashed once again when Jungkook showed up with his new girlfriend. After one too many shots he had poured his heart out to Hobi, who swore never to repeat what he had said. Over the years Hobi had given Jimin several concerned looks but had never brought it up again. It was that night that Jimin had decided that he and Jungkook would never be more than friends, and he was fine with that, mostly. That wasn’t why he was doing this; he was doing this to keep his best friend from being forced to leave the life he was building here.

“I’m fine,” he said, avoiding Hobi’s eyes. “It has nothing to do with what I told you years ago. I’m completely over any feelings I had for him. Now lets go make that guest list.”

He grabbed the pad of paper from the counter and went back to the group laughing in the living room, leaving Hobi to follow. Hobi frowned, not believing Jimin and followed him back towards their friends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The week leading up to the mating ceremony flew by. After their groups get together Jimin’s mom, together with Jin and Yoongi coordinated everything in record time. Jungkook moved into Jimin’s apartment in one afternoon; granted he didn’t have much to move, nor was he very organized. Jimin had just closed the door to his room, not wanting to see the mess that Jungkook would most likely never get around to organizing. He was used to it by now, not that it didn’t bother him, but it was exactly why he was standing here today in a white suit waiting to marry his best friend, because Jungkook was so disorganized and forgetful.

He tried to keep busy the past week so he didn’t have time to actually think about what he was doing. They had been friends for over five years, easily falling into friendship instantly. Living together wasn’t a huge jump from their current friendship; they already spent most of their time together. But it was the secret that he had hidden and tried to ignore that had been tormenting him all week. Was he doing this because of his feelings for Jungkook? Was he trapping him into marriage? His omega was going into overdrive already, what was going to happen when they were actually mated? Would he ever be able to leave Jungkook, bite or no bite? His mind wouldn’t stop racing.

Everyone, apart from their five closest friends, thought they were actually in love and getting mated which didn't help. The constant congratulations and affirmations of how magnificent their bond was going to be was confusing for his omega. His omega wanted Jungkook as it’s mate regardless of immigration visas.

There was a knock at the door. “It’s time,” Yoongi said, opening the door. Jimin took a deep breath and smiled, “Let’s go”, pushing his doubts aside, no time for second thoughts now.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jungkook smiled while watching his friends as they laughed and danced. In the middle of them was Jimin, dancing with Jin’s daughter, Mia, in his arms. The two-year-old laughed as Jimin twirled her around, the grin on his face lighting up the room. Jimin had never looked more beautiful. He always looked good, but today he was absolutely glowing. He would be lying if he said he never thought of Jimin in a romantic sense. They had clicked so quickly and easily as friends. Jungkook hadn’t wanted to mess with that bond, so at the time he had quickly put any romantic thoughts out of his head.
Jimin leaned down and kissed the little girl on the cheek, Mia giggling in response. Jimin would make an excellent mother one day. He was dedicated to his school right now, but Jungkook was sure one day he would make time for a family. He didn’t know how he would ever repay Jimin for the sacrifice that he had done for him.

Their friends, and Jimin’s mom, who was suddenly his greatest supporter, had pulled off a beautiful ceremony despite the short notice. Tae had done an amazing job with the ceremony despite everyone’s initial hesitation, resorting the guests to tears with his heartfelt speech about how they were truly soulmates and belonged together. Even Jimin had teared up.

It was surprising how easy it had been to convince their friends and colleagues that this was real. No one had seemed surprised by their announcement. It wasn’t surprising that people mistook their close friendship for something more; it wasn’t the first time people had thought they were dating. Jungkook had more than one partner who thought there was something more going on. Thankfully, this common misconception should make it easier for them to convince immigration that this was legit. Jungkook smiled as Jimin waved him over, putting his glass down and going to join Jimin and his friends on the dance floor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimin clutched the bag to his chest as he maneuvered the busy sidewalk. Jungkook had been busy at work the last few days, coming in late and leaving early. He had developed a significant following lately, and his appointments had taken off. Jimin was happy for him, but he missed his friend, which is why he was surprising him with dinner. Jimin had spent all afternoon making his favorite meal just for him.

So far their “mating” had been going well. They had fallen into a domestic routine of roommates fairly quickly. Their friends liked to joke that they already acted like an old married couple. Thankfully, this made the interviews with the immigration department much easier. Jimin and Jungkook had yet to do their interviews, but their friends and Jimin’s parents had already done theirs and had no issues. Jimin was confident that soon Jungkook would officially get his spousal visa.

Jimin paused as Rebel Ink came into view. Through the large storefront window he could see Jungkook as he leaned across the counter flirting with a woman. Jimin knew he was flirting; he was well versed in Jungkook’s flirting having seen it in action many times over the past years. He couldn’t see the women’s face, but it was obvious it was his usual type.

He shouldn’t be upset about this, they had discussed this, but it was only a few weeks since their mating. His omega was visibly upset. That was his alpha! What was he doing? Jimin was his mate! Jimin shook himself out of his haze; he had to get out of there. He turned to leave and bumped into Jungkook’s co-worker, Hazel.

“Hey, Jimin! You here to see Jungkook?”

“Actually, I’ve got to go, something came up. Can you give this to him?” he said, shoving the bag of food into her arms.

“Ya sure,” she said confused as she watched Jimin sprint away.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimin was acting weird, that was one thing Jungkook was sure of. Their first few weeks living together went fine but now something was off. He had started being really clingy and needy and now he was just avoiding him. At first Jungkook thought it was just the stress and worry about the whole visa thing and his thesis, but now it seemed like he was mad about something. What Jungkook couldn’t figure out, he couldn’t think of what it could be. Maybe he was already fed up of Jungkook and his messiness. At first he thought it was just his busy schedule, but it was obvious that Jimin was definitely avoiding him now. Jungkook had finally had the night off the previous evening, he brought take out home hoping to have a night in with Jimin catching up, but Jimin was nowhere to be found. He later found out he had gone to Tae’s to spend the night. And then there was the whole incident at work. Hazel had run into Jimin outside of Jungkook’s work but he had fled before even talking to him. Hopefully he was home so they could finally talk. He wasn’t used to Jimin avoiding him. Jimin had his interview earlier today and he hadn’t even texted Jungkook about it.

Jungkook opened the apartment door to find it dark inside with no sign of Jimin. A Christmas tree twinkled from the living room, proof that Jimin had been there sometime because that wasn’t there earlier. His phone dinged with a message; he looked disappointed once he saw it was from Hobi not Jimin.

Jimins here with me. All’s good. Jimin’s heat came suddenly so he’s staying here until it's over. Wanted to let you know he’s ok and will talk to you in a few days when he’s feeling better. And don’t forget about your interview!

Jimin’s heat? That explained his odd behavior. But wait, his heat shouldn’t be for months, and he was on suppressants; they both were. Jungkook suddenly noticed the peach smell permeating the apartment. He had been craving the fruit recently; he had even mentioned it to Jimin. He was such an idiot, he thought as he texted Hobi back.

Are you sure he’s ok, his heat shouldn’t be yet. Maybe he should go see someone? Can I come over?

Joon came over to check on him. He said it happens sometimes, probably cause you guys are living together now. It isn’t a good idea if you come over, his omega is in control and he’s not himself.

That was some comfort that Joon had come to check on him, but still he needed to see him. But he knew there was no way Hobi was going to let him, plus who knew what would happen. His alpha was already agitated and if he showed up there, his rut would probably also be triggered which would just complicate things more. There is no way he would make his interview if he went into rut and all of this would have been for nothing.

Ok, tell him I’m thinking of him and let me know when it’s ok to come over.

“Ugh,” sighed Jungkook, rubbing his face as he fell to the couch. He stared at the Christmas tree.

Everything was a mess. All he did was complicate Jimin’s life. Jimin loved Christmas, it was his favorite holiday; the decorating, the presents, the baking. He always went all out. Now instead of enjoying his favorite holiday he was in pain and suffering. Jungkook knew heats, especially sudden heats were very painful for omegas and he would have done anything to protect Jimin from that.

How was he supposed to concentrate on his interview when all he could think about was Jimin? He grabbed the neatly organized, color coordinated file that Jimin had created to prepare for the interview. The least he could do was pass this thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jungkook stepped out of the immigration office with a determination he had never felt before. He needed to see Jimin now! He ran down the street and down the subway stairs, just catching the subway. He just hoped he was at the apartment, their apartment.

The interview had gone great, better than expected. The case worker actually said they had never had such a clear-cut case. The statements from their friends and family had been glowing, and they had even seen Tae’s speech. Jimin’s interview though had been the final piece. The interviewer had said it was evident that the two of them were very much in love, and Jimin’s recounting of their relationship and bond was a testament to their love.

Jungkook couldn’t even remember what they had asked him or what he had answered. All he could think about was that he was in love with Jimin and that he had probably been so since they first met over five years ago. The interview had triggered all the feelings that he had been repressing and ignoring. It was if a literal hammer had hit him over the head. Now all he could think about was Jimin and how he had to see him and tell him. The subway pulled into his station and he bolted out of the station and up the street to their apartment.

He opened the door in a rush. “Jimin?” he asked, rushing into the darkened apartment only lite by the glow of the Christmas tree. Jungkook could see the luminated figure of Jimin sitting on the floor near the tree looking out over the city through the window.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” he asked approaching him, the faint smell of peaches still filling the air. Jimin looked up at him with a fake smile, “Ok,” he said softly, “but we need to talk Jungkook.”

Jimin looked awful. He was pale and had dark circles under his eyes and it was obvious he had been crying. Jungkook resisted the urge to pull him into his arms.

“Ok,” he said hesitantly sitting on the floor next to him.

Jimin looked away from him, keeping his gaze on the snow falling slightly outside. “I can’t do this anymore, I’m sorry.”

“Do what?” he asked freezing, but he knew what he meant.

“This, pretending to be something we aren’t. It’s killing me and my omega and I can’t do it anymore. I know I said it would be fine, but I was wrong and I’m really sorry. We can figure something out; we can have some sort of plan if they come to check things. I didn’t...”

“Stop,” Jungkook said loudly, cutting Jimin off.

Jimin looked at him, tears falling down his cheeks. Jungkook’s heart broke. “Please stop,” he said softly, wiping the tears gently from Jimin’s cheeks. “I love you and I think you love me too, please stop!”

Jimin looked up at Jungkook in shock, his eyes going wide. “What?” he whispered.

“I think, no I know, I’ve been in love with you for years, probably since the first time we met at Jin’s stupid start of the year party. I just thought I wasn’t, I don’t know good enough or what you wanted. You are so perfect Jimin. You are beautiful and kind, and so smart. I am so proud of you. I’m so sorry it took me so long to figure it out. It took this stupid fake relationship to make me see what was right in front of me. I don’t want to pretend; I want it to be real. I want to be your mate, I want to have a family with you, I want to hear about your stupid math que..”

Jimin cut him off, surging forward and kissing him deeply. “I love you too,” he whispered against Jungkook’s lips, touching their foreheads together. “And I want it to be real too,” he said softly before kissing Jungkook again.

“Wait,” Jimin said, breaking the kiss and pushing Jungkook away. “What happened with your interview?”

Jungkook laughed. “Nailed it. Apparently, the only ones who didn’t think we were actually in love were us. Now come back here, we have lost time to make up for.”

Jimin laughed as Jungkook pulled him closer, and the two proceeded to kiss under the tree. “Best Christmas ever,” sighed Jungkook kissing Jimin. Jimin smiled, “Love you too Kook!”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One year later....

“I’m home,” Jungkook said as he opened the front door to their apartment.

Jimin was standing in front of the tree, he turned and smiled at Jungkook. “Lily and I are just looking at the Christmas tree decorations. She loves the lights,” he smiled.

Jungkook went and took the tiny baby from Jimin’s arms, kissing him softly on the lips.

“Hi sweetheart,” he whispered, kissing her softly on the head. “Is Mommy showing you the tree. The tree where you were made,” he smirked raising his eyebrows at Jimin. He looked down at his daughter who was enthralled with the dancing lights on the tree. She was the perfect mix of both him and Jimin, and he had never been more in love.

“Hey!” laughed Jimin, “don’t tell her that.”

Jimin smiled as he took in Jungkook showing Lily the decorations and telling her all about Santa. Jungkook was a wonderful father and seeing him with Lily just made him fall more in love each day. The last year had been full of changes but he couldn’t imagine things any different. After they had finally admitted their feelings their relationship became one of a true mating and they had exchange bites a few months later when they realized that Jimin had been expecting. Their friends and family had been ecstatic, especially Jimin’s mother. After Lily, Jungkook was her favorite and she doted on both of them. She had been a godsend, making it possible for Jimin to continue with his school despite now also raising a pup. Jimin had not been happy to find out their friends had been placing bets on their relationship, the last bet being on when they would be parents. Yoongi of course had won all three bets. Jungkook thought the whole thing was hilarious of course. Jungkook’s career had really taken off, and he was looking at opening his own tattoo parlor. Jungkook’s spousal visa had been approved pretty much instantly, their case worker even sending them a note wishing them well for the future.

“Jimin, come see,” Jungkook said excitedly, “she’s trying to touch the lights!”

Jimin smiled walking towards his mate and daughter. Who knew that Jungkook’s constant forgetfulness one day would have resulted in his dream coming true.
