Flower Girl

Summary:

Coco is a flower girl, Ollie has a sister :3

Work Text:

Coco stared at her mom and Mr. Adler in both disbelief and surprise. She wanted to tear up, but held back as she asked the question:

"You want me to be the flower girl?"

Ollie sat next to her, smiling softly with her head tilted to the side. Looking at her expectantly, Coco realized.

"Yes, Coco. Ollie gave us the idea in the first place," Mr. Adler looked at Ollie lovingly. "And we thought it was a great idea! So... what do you say?"

Coco didn't know what to say. As much as she talked, she was at a loss for words, for once.

She looked over at her mom, who had remained silent since they'd asked the question.

She was looking at Coco with her analytic face; the one she used when she was writing a story for the Evansburg Independent newspaper.

Coco had wondered about what her position would be during the wedding; whether she'd be a bridemaid or guest or groomsmen (she didn't know! Coco was open to any possiblity.)

Never did she think, however, that she would be the 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭. Coco had thought that that would be Ollie's position, or one of her baby cousins or 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦𝘴 place.

She wanted to cry tears of joy.

Instead, she took a deep breath (though it didn't do much) and stuttered out, "I-i would love to!"

They all seemed to brighten up, and Ollie tugged her into a hug.

That seemed to set off the waterworks. Coco sobbed into Ollie's chest, fingers digging in to her soft long-sleeved t-shirt and tears surely leaving an uncomfortable wet spot.

Her mom shifted to rub her back, and Mr. Adler tugged all of them into a hug.

They stayed like that for a while, long enough for the oven timer to go off.

They all sat up, and Mr. Adlers cheery voice told them all they needed to know.

"Who wants cookies?"

The special day came quickly, and Coco was following her mom down the aisle, throwing yellow, white and red rose petals around.

The venue was outside; fairly sized, but not huge. White roses were meticulously placed in the surrounding trees, decorating the area. A pale platform was placed at the end of the aisle, a floral arch paired with it.

Her mom was beautiful. Her blonde hair was put up into a braided chignon, a hairstyle Coco hadn't known the name of until now.

Her dress was elegant, yet simple. It was form fitting until it flared out at the bottom, like a mermaid dress but way more subtle. It was silky smooth, and looked good in the fading light of the sun, setting over the horizon.

Ollie stood among six bridesmaids beside the alter. She was stunning, too.

Her dark, corkscrewing curls were prominent, left in a half-up half-down braid that suited her suprisingly well.

Her dress was similar to Coco's, the only difference was that Ollie's didn't have flower patterns weaved into the lace that made up the skirt that fell just below her knees.

As they made it to the end of the aisle, Coco walked over to Ollie, standing beside her in the empty space Ollie had saved for her.

The vows begun. Mr. Adler looked the fanciest Coco had ever seen him, in a pale white suit that matched the color of her mom's dress.

They looked so 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 together, and Coco smiled so wide her face hurt.

Ollie leaned over to whisper in her ear, just as the vows finished and applause overcame the crowd, "Love ya', sis."

And Coco teared up, leaning against her f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ 𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 shoulder. Quietly, in a happy, shaky voice, she said, "I love you too... sis."
