Work Text:
It was a snowy Tuesday… wait, no way it’s Tuesday—
Shoto was sitting in class drawing in his notebook, slowly zoning out, when he heard Aizawa start to talk.
“Alright, class. As you all know, it’s the 24th of December, also known as Christmas Eve, so instead of working, we are going to throw a Christmas party,” Aizawa said, writing a list of what to do on the board.
Shoto smiled slightly. He wasn’t really a big fan of parties, but the ones Class 1-A had planned had always been amazing, so for once he was excited.
“Alright, after, you can all head back to the dorm to start setting up. I will be here napping,” Aizawa said, grabbing his sleeping bag and flopping down.
“Hey, Todoroki!” Deku said cheerfully.
“Oh, hi Midoriya,” Shoto said, closing his notebook.
“Are you excited for th—” Deku started, but someone shouting from across the room cut him off.
“Ugh, for the last time, shitty hair, I’m not telling you how I came up with all of your nicknames!” Bakugo shouted, trying to walk out the room.
“Awww, come on, man! It won’t even take, like, five minutes,” Kirishima said, blocking the door so Bakugo couldn’t leave.
“I swear to All Might, if I tell you, will you and Sparky over there leave me alone?!” Bakugo asked, giving up on leaving.
“Yesss! Now go on, tell us!” Denki said, practically bouncing over.
“Ok. Kirishima is shitty hair ‘cause his hair is shitty,” Bakugo said, pointing to Kirishima.
“It’s not that bad…” Kirishima mumbled, touching his hair gently.
“Yeah, yeah. Kaminari is Sparky ‘cause of his quirk. Mina is Pinky ‘cause, well, she’s pink. Shinso is Brainwash ‘cause of his quirk. Uraraka is Round Face ‘cause her face is pretty round. And Todoroki is Icy Hot ‘cause he’s hot,” Bakugo said—then his eyes widened, and he covered his mouth, realising what he had just admitted.
Shoto stared at Bakugo, not knowing what to say or even if he should say anything, since he wasn’t part of the conversation. To be fair, they were speaking kinda loud, so it’s not like he was eavesdropping.
“Wait… you think Todoroki is what?” Denki said, smirking.
“Nothing! It was nothing! S-shut up, Sparky!” Bakugo shouted, storming off.
“Hey, man, wait up!” Kirishima said, following him out.
Denki looked over to Shinso, who smirked back at him… They were planning something; Shoto could tell, but he didn’t pay much mind to it… yet.
“Oh, Todoroki, we should go help set up,” Deku said in that same light tone as before.
“Yeah, we are both helping to decorate, yes?” Shoto asked, standing up and grabbing his bag.
“Yesss! Let’s go deck those halls—or should I say Deku the halls,” Deku said, laughing slightly.
“No, Midoriya… just no,” Shoto deadpanned.
“Aw, man,” he said, walking to the door with Shoto following close behind.
“I wonder what he meant by me being hot… is my fire too much for him?” Shoto thought, clearly getting the wrong idea—
…
Shoto stood in the living room decorating the tree, and honestly, it looked magical since he had used his ice to make snow—which somehow wasn’t melting, but that was probably just his quirk or… something.
“Hey, Todoroki, that looks really good,” Shinso said, walking over with Denki following behind, a charger in his mouth, charging what seemed to be Shinso’s phone.
“Oh, thanks. I’m just about done, actually.” He stepped back to look at the tree. “Do you guys need help with anything else?” Shoto asked.
“Well, there is one thing we could use your help with,” Denki said, a grin forming on his face.
“Sure. What do you need?” Shoto asked, putting the tree’s lights on.
“We wanna play a prank on Bakugo, and we think you’re the perfect person to help,” Shinso said, putting his arm around Denki, whose face flushed.
Shoto thought of the earlier comment and smiled slightly. “Ok, let’s go then.”
“Yesss!” Denki said, leading Shoto and Shinso to his room.
“Ok, so Shoto, the plan is: we wrap you in a little bit of ribbon, and then you have to say something to make Bakugo flustered, and we’re gonna record it!” Denki said, grabbing some red and white ribbon.
Shoto smiled again. “Alright, uhh… what do I say, though?” he asked, letting Shinso start wrapping the white ribbon loosely on one side.
“Well, anything really, ‘cause apparently he thinks you’re hot, so?” Shinso said, shrugging.
Shoto blushed slightly. “O-oh… yeah.”
…
The Christmas party was in full swing, and honestly, it was better than last year’s one. Everything was great!
“Ok, I think it’s time to do it. Are you ready, Todoroki?” Shinso asked, peeking around the wall and seeing a clear path to Bakugo.
“Yeah, I think I am,” Shoto said, looking slightly nervous.
“Alright, I’ll go get him!” Denki said, fast-walking over to Bakugo. “Heyyyy, bro!”
“What do you want, Sparky?” Bakugo asked, frowning.
“Shinso and I got you a big gift, and we wanna give it to you!” Denki said enthusiastically.
“Uh… ok? Why not bring it over here, though?” Bakugo asked skeptically.
“‘Cause it’s wayyyy too big. We can barely move it,” Denki said, trying to emphasise that he couldn’t bring the “present” over.
“Ugh, fine. Just make it quick, dunce face. I have food to cook!” Bakugo said, his tone sharp.
Denki took him to the hall and over to Shoto.
“Here it is!” Denki said, pointing to Shoto, who was just… standing there.
“So where is it?!” Bakugo asked, his tone harsh.
“Right there,” Shinso said, pushing Bakugo closer to Shoto.
“I—uhh… w-what do you mean—” Bakugo said. He was flustered as fuck, and Denki was getting it all on video. “M-my gift is Todoroki?!”
“Yup,” Denki said happily.
“Uh… c-can I, uh—” Bakugo started, but he was damn flustered and kept stuttering.
Shoto leaned in and kissed him, kind of struggling because of the ribbon, but it was a kiss nonetheless.
“There’s your gift,” Shoto said with a straight face, wiping his mouth.
“T-thank you—” Bakugo mumbled, turning around. “Do you, uh… wanna come sit with me?” he asked quietly, holding his hand out to him.
Shoto smiled. “Yeah, I’d like that. But uh… can someone get this ribbon off me—”
