Work Text:
Someone slapped the back of Fumiya’s head, forcing him to his senses. The taste of chocolate still lingered in his mouth—heavenly sweet. He risked dipping his finger back into the cake batter one last time.
“Fumiya-san!” Rikai huffed, grabbing his shoulder and whirling him around. “What do you think you’re doing!?”
Usually, there’d be plenty more time for him to sneak around while Rikai read. So, he must have finished his law book, then. Why did it have to be now?
Fumiya slipped his finger into his mouth, sucking the batter off with a pop of his lips. “Taste-testing.” He said, fighting back the urge to take the bowl and run.
“That is a completely unsanitary way to do so! Use a spoon!” Rikai gestured to the neatly organized utensils only a few feet away. He hadn’t even realized the flaw in his words.
That was a clear invitation for him to carry on. “Ah. Okay.” Fumiya took a few steps forward, but his wrist was quickly snatched up.
“Wait a second—Did Iori-san say you could taste test it?”
“Yes.” Fumiya lied with the same expression as ever. Not a crack on his face.
Rikai’s brows furrowed. He looked around the room with narrow eyes, his frown intensifying. “You’ve been out here with me this entire time. To get consent, he’d have to be out here, too.” Skepticism—the kind that meant Fumiya’s plans risked being foiled—laced his words. “Yet I do not see him.”
“Ehh…” Fumiya tilted his head. “He said I could before he went to the bathroom, Rikai.”
“He, of all people, knows you would eat the entire bowls-worth!” Rikai scoffed. He spread his arms out as if it were such a simple concept he couldn’t believe Fumiya didn’t understand. “Which, he’d never allow before he can put in more work. Do you think I’m a fool, Fumiya-san!?”
“Your words.” With a shrug, Fumiya turned back to the cake batter.
Just as he was reaching for it, Rikai’s hands wrapped around his wrist again. He began to tug him away, muttering to himself.
“You filthy delinquent!” His feet slipped at first, but he managed to get Fumiya moving. “Everyone is working so hard except for you.”
“Oi, Rikai.” Fumiya didn’t quite mind having Rikai touch him, so he didn’t bother to fight back. But he did still want that cake batter. “Let go.”
“Absolutely not! You are not to leave your room until the Christmas party.”
The smell of cake was intoxicatingly strong, even halfway across the living room—delicious enough to make Fumiya drool. “Let go, Rikai.”
When he finally bothered to pull away, they were standing in the doorway. Surprisingly, his arm slipped free as if it were covered in oil.
Rikai’s eyes were fixed above them. His cheeks flushed a soft pink, and his jaw hung slack. With eyes wide, he looked like he had just seen a ghost. An attractive one, or something.
Fumiya followed suit, looking to the ceiling. Mistletoe hung directly above them. Its white berries glistened tauntingly in the light.
“Oh.” If he tried, he could probably convince Rikai to kiss him. It wouldn’t take much manipulation to get it done. Plus, it would be quite amusing to be the one to take his first kiss. And he did always wonder what Rikai tasted like.
“F-F-Fumiya-san…” Rikai’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. Sweat was already dripping down his forehead, making Fumiya’s heart skip a beat. If he was this anxious… “Do you know what… what that is?”
“A mistletoe,” Fumiya replied casually.
“And you understand the—that there’s a tr-tradition…” Rikai rocked back and forth on the balls of his heels. He wiped away sweat with the back of his sleeve, shaking his head.
Fumiya almost couldn’t keep a smirk off his face. He had a golden opportunity here. It’d be so much sweeter than any cake. “I don’t.”
“Y-You don’t?” Rikai squeaked. He immediately froze in place. “Ahh! Fumiya-san, you must be joking!” His face burned brighter as if Fumiya had only gone and doused the flames in gasoline.
“I’m not. What is it?”
“Really!” He was nearly whimpering now. God, it was agonising. “W-Well… When two people… stand beneath one…” Tugging at his shirt collar, Rikai looked away. Fumiya could almost see his heart pounding right out of his chest. “They—Um! They must k-k-ki… Ah—!” He shook his head wildly. “I can’t say it!”
“But I don’t get it,” Fumiya lied, knowing very well what he was going to say. His skin crawled with sick desires.
Rikai’s jaw hung lower and lower. Fretful tears pooled in his eyes. “It’s obscene… but…” He fiddled with his thumbs, as if that’d ever be enough to comfort him. “Tradition says we must… put our—our lips. T-together.”
How did saying it like that make it any better? It almost sounded more obscene said like that than if he had just said they had to kiss. Either way, Rikai was putting his plan in place without him having to exert any effort. He could have fun with it.
“Ah, well, it’s just tradition,” Fumiya waved him off. “Not like a law or anything.”
“How can you still not get it!?” Rikai practically shrieked. “We—If we don’t follow tradition, what are we!? It might as well be a law!”
“Does it matter?”
“O-Of course it matters!” Rikai stomped his foot. He clutched his whistle, squeezing it until his knuckles whitened. He took a deep breath. “I’d—I would rather not, obviously! B-but… If we don’t… You know.”
“No, I don’t know. Let’s just not.” As he spoke, he could almost see the heat of embarrassment radiating off of Rikai. “I have to stay in my room, remember?”
“You can go after!” Rikai pleaded. “Please, Fumiya-san! We have—There’s no choice—!” He gasped for air, his body trembling.
The poor thing was going to faint if he stalled much longer. So, Fumiya reached out and cupped his face. Rikai flinched at the touch, but did not dare move. He stayed exactly where he was as Fumiya leaned in closer and closer.
Rikai’s breath against his lips was hot and damp. His eyes squeezed shut tight; however, it did nothing to stop tiny whimpers from escaping him. Was he really that desperate for a kiss? From Fumiya, no less.
It was utterly exhilarating.
He grazed his thumb over Rikai’s bottom lip, savoring the way he squirmed beneath his touch.
“F-Fu—” When Rikai opened his mouth to rush Fumiya, he shoved his thumb right in.
His gut twisted at the feeling of skin against tongue. Rikai let out a squeak, muffled by Fumiya’s thumb in his mouth.
Gently, he pulled his thumb free. A trail of spit followed it, hanging loosely between Rikai’s lips and himself. He wanted so badly to push Rikai straight to his room and see what he looked like beneath those awfully tight clothes, but he held himself back.
Just a kiss.
“FUMIYA-SAN! Th-That was—Why!?” Rikai gasped, his hand clutching his chest. “You ought—”
Fumiya closed the gap. Their lips touched in an electrifying burst, sending shivers down both their spines. Fumiya sucked at Rikai’s bottom lip as he tried to get a better taste of that sweet lip balm—vanilla—a favorite of his.
Rikai clearly couldn’t suppress himself. He moaned softly as Fumiya pushed him against the doorframe, pressing his knee between his legs. Nothing mattered unless it was convenient to him, and based on the way he wrapped his arms around Fumiya’s neck, he needed this more than anything. Even more than he needed to keep the house under check.
Pushing his tongue against Rikai’s lips, he slowly parted them to allow Fumiya inside. Their tongues entwined in a heartbeat. The further touch was enough to make Rikai’s knees give out. Fumiya had to support his entire body weight just to keep him pinned in place.
Just as Rikai’s hand was sliding up Fumiya’s chest, Fumiya pulled back. In an instant, he longed to feel his stuck-up friend again. The way Rikai stared at him with half-lidded, hungry eyes made the separation worth it.
“Mmm…” Rikai’s lips curled into a frown. His head tilted down, scarlet gaze not leaving Fumiya’s. He was so close to pouting.
Fumiya pushed Rikai’s arms off of him, taking a step back into the living room. “Wow, Rikai. Didn’t know you were into that.”
It didn’t take long for his eyes to widen. He straightened back out, fists clenched. He looked just like the ideal apple. Appealing, but awfully red. Somehow even redder than before. “F-F-Fumiya-san! I—You took that much too far—I don’t—”
“Yeah. A peck would’ve sufficed.” Terra chimed in, pushing past the two of them. “You two should get a room, Terra-kun doesn’t want to watch you get it off to anyone but her.”
“Terra-san!” Rikai almost fell backwards. He was panting now. “I am NOT g-getting it… HAH!? No!”
“Heh.” Fumiya chuckled. Maybe it’d be enough of a distraction for him to sneak back to the cake batter.
“Get to your room, Ito Fumiya!” Rikai demanded, readying his whistle. “I-I don’t want to see your face for the rest of the day!”
“Ehh? But you were the one who wanted to kiss.”
“Do not remind me!” Rikai’s voice was high-pitched and frantic. He, too, moved right past Fumiya, pressing his back against the doorframe so they would not touch. “I wanted no such thing!”
“Sure, sure, sure.” Fumiya shrugged.
He watched Rikai move away, his steps wobbly and confused, with a grin on his face. Someday, he’d be lucky enough to see more of him.
None other than Fumiya had been the one to taint his purity.
And, for now, that was enough.
